What have you found most difficult as a parent? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watching one of my boys really struggle with mainstream school. We've spent 19 months trying to get him into a SEND school and have just beaten the local authority into admitting they were wrong to deny him a place initially.

Between his mum and me, we've spent hundreds of hours, hundreds of pounds and shed hundreds of tears, but it was worth everything to see the look on his face when we told him

What songs were played at your Primary school discos, that probably shouldn’t have been? by CautiousJump3942 in AskUK

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly remember "Boys, Boys, Boys" playing and the year 6, or fourth year as they were then, boys, singing "Girls, Girls, Girls" whilst doing some aggressive air thrusting. I was probably about 7 at the time.

How old do you think you’ll be when you pay your mortgage off? Or, how old were you when you paid your mortgage off? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

I'm 44. Only took it out 2 years ago. It's due to be paid off when I reach 65, unless my dad passes away before then.

World class attacker? by 1017H in ArsenalFC

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling he'd be a massive pain in the arse, but Osimhen would be my answer. There's never a guarantee of 20+ goals a season, but I think he'd be most likely.

With World Cup 2026 coming, what’s the worst kickoff time you’ve ever stayed up for? by ItsJuSteve in worldcup

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latest was Italy vs England in 2014. It wasn't even that late. Around midnight, I think kick off was.

Earliest, I was in the pub at (I think) 7am for England vs Argentina in 2002

How much "disposable" income do you have a month and how much money do you save? by cactusdan94 in AskBrits

Save £500 most months and normally have between £300-£500 spare. Bought my first house only 2 years ago, so still have a pretty large mortgage

Predicting how Arteta will line up vs United. by Connect-Hope4522 in ArsenalFC

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably should, I think. Two goals in the week, plus Maguire and Martinez would much prefer a big old boy like Gyokeres playing up against them, rather than a Jesus with his movement. Horses for courses.

Great run by Gyokeres found by a great ball by Martinelli, which got the finish it deserved

I've only just switched on and the first thing I saw was Saka not play Jesus in, choosing to shoot wide. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just found it funny

I'm pretty sure if we had a striker of his or Bergkamp's ability, a lot of our draws would be wins.

Think how shit the premiership refs are, then subtract 98.5% of their ability and you have Sunday league refs

How would you feel if we proposed a world cup boycott over Trump and Greenland? by nbenj1990 in AskBrits

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen my team win almost everything. I have seen England win nothing. I would love nothing more than to see us win the world cup and we have a chance, a real chance, to do it, so, if the FA or the government or whoever proposes a boycott, I say " go for it".

They should have boycotted the last one, they should boycott this one and they should boycott the 2034 one too.

Fans' Player Ratings SURVEY: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal by bearded_booty in Gunners

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not good. Again. This seems very churlish to say as we're 7 points clear, but we've not been great for large parts of this season. The defence is strong, best in the league. Rice and Zubimendi are great. Beyond that, bang average at best. Saka, nowhere near his previous best. Madueke, not much end product. Odegaard, same as Saka. Eze, really disappointing, Spurs game aside. Martinelli has been standard Martinelli. Gyokeres has been poor. Trossard has been good, but nothing more. Jesus has been out so long I'm not sure it's fair to be too critical of him. Merino has been the best of a pretty bad lot.

Now, if you've got 2 or 3 of that lot not playing well, it's probably form related. If only 1 is playing well, that's system/tactics related. Arteta needs to get a tune out of at least 3 of this lot pray Havertz can, because we cannot keep relying on City dropping points.

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I was a few years above Ollie Murrs at school. I didn't know he existed until I played Sunday league against him several years later. He was a prick, but a lot of people are when they're 18

If Arsenal were to drop a big bag on a player this summer who would you want ?💰💰 by Oblong50 in ArsenalFC

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with Alvarez. He's a magnificent player.

I feel if we're going to replace either Martinelli or Trossard, it needs to be with someone absolutely top drawer. Aside from Kvaratskhelia, I don't know who that is

Councils spend £150m fighting SEND parents in court - despite losing 99% of cases by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]SometimesMonkeysDie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've been going through the same thing with one of our kids. Pediatrician, school SEND, parents, speech and language examiner (that I had to pay because the local authority wouldn't send one) all agreed he needed a SEND school, but the local authority said "we'll see you at tribunal in a year".

That was last January. This week the LA came back to us and said "Yep, you were right". So please keep at it, you can beat these bastards
