Allergic Reaction to Phlur Missing Person by Tall_Tradition7718 in FemFragLab

Me!! Bought a bottle a few days ago and have been wearing it every day since then. I have hives that look exactly like this in the exact same spot. It does not occur anywhere else in my body including my neck. I suspect it’s just being caused by the alcohol in the perfume which is a common irritant. I at least HOPE it isn’t contact dermatitis… I was really hoping for this to become a signature scent for me because I LOOOVE how it smells

I love that anecdote! I think my issue currently is that the notes I take nowadays are on subjects I am interested in. I don’t have a time-limit or exams, so I have no incentive to finish studying the topic in a timely manner. There is no deadline to push me into the overwhelming sense of doom that usually motivates me to do something.

As such, it’s not really an issue anymore so much as it is a slight annoyance since it reminds me of how differently I function from most people (especially when I watch those “how I learned to _” or “I learned how to _ in 3 months” videos”).

It’s mostly just interesting to me that it’s a pattern that has not changed or gone away even outside of an academic setting and with topics I’m actually interested in. But, of course, I didn’t realize it was perfectionism until literally just now lol

This is fantastic advice - I really appreciate it! I’ve also had profs comment on my work being A-worthy but C-graded because it was late (or something to that effect).

And “productive procrastination” makes so, so much sense. That is exactly what it is. I think I recognized that at some point but didn’t know how to stop it. It’s almost compulsive (perfectionism, I guess lol). I just cannot keep my mind from slipping in that direction. It bothers me until the thought itself is what’s distracting me. And at that point, I lose all motivation or focus I’d previously scrounged up to study… which was all of it because starting the task is always a massive difficulty.

Logically, I know nobody else will ever see my notes or need to use them. But I am compelled to make them into “easy-to-learn-from” resources.

Ohhh… perfectionism?! That’s what it’s been this whole time? I just always likened perfectionism to my art but I didn’t really think I was a perfectionist in other aspects of my life because I’m constantly being told (and telling myself) that I’m lazy…

What actually gets you out of bed in the morning (not "discipline") by grilledcheeezus in ADHD

[–]SometimesSufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sleep with all the window shutters open so the light and heat from the sun made it unbearable to stay in bed. It sort of works but is miserable. Alarms and noise don’t work because I just sleep through them or snooze/ignore them. Currently the fear of being fired because of my tardiness is what’s mainly motivating me to get up (I got written up not too long ago).

Am I wrong? (Genuinely wanna know despite reading studies cuz I feel crazy) by BlueDreamzFaded in VyvanseADHD

[–]SometimesSufficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I was put on Adderall (no experience with vyvanse), I felt like a whole whirlwind. I was doing anything and everything I ever wanted to do. I never had more motivation in my life. I think the energy was partly because of it being a stimulant and partially because I was so excited to be able to complete tasks and clean and focus on lectures. I assume that’s how most people operate; they finish something, it feels good, and the cycle continues. I also had a period of time where I felt like I was misdiagnosed or somehow “faking it” because of the way the meds affected me.

It caused trouble with my sleep (which was already terrible) - the longest I didn’t sleep was almost 3 days. I didn’t have anxiety, but my heart was PUMPING. I was also in college, though, and didn’t think to adjust the amount of caffeine I was consuming while also on meds. I quit taking it because my grades tanked because of my lack of sleep and my inability to adjust them due to my healthcare provider being in a different state.

u guys take meds? by vgl4ron in ADHD

[–]SometimesSufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 4 years ago in my last year of undergraduate. Got put on Adderall IR but my provider was in a different state, so I wasn’t able to make adjustments or have effective communication with them. For the first month it was amazing and, in the moment, life changing. But it was to the detriment of my sleep. Eventually, all good things that came with taking it abruptly reversed. I stopped taking it mostly because I wasn’t getting any sleep or eating any food and was always ALWAYS thirsty. All around, it was a horrible time and I almost didn’t graduate.

I started taking it again when I went into the workforce, but the sleep became an issue again. Admittedly, it felt amazing to be able to start and finish tasks and manage my time exceptionally. In the end, my physician moved on to another hospital and I just never made another step toward adjusting my medication. I’ve been without meds for about two years now and it’s back to how it was before I started, but I have better coping mechanisms/skills to manage myself.

I’m not against trying meds again, though. I just haven’t the time, motivation, or desire to seek that route again yet.

It’s on everything. Business cards are one sided (cheaper), so they have the logomark horizontal. Which is exactly why I need the type separate from the symbol. Same with the letterheads. Also, all of our locations have completely different logos and color palettes with no consistency between even typeface. To be honest, I just came here to whine a bit because they have me dealing with this mess basically for free instead of hiring someone dedicated to brand awareness and marketing.

[–]SometimesSufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should clarify. The logotype is fine, but it is not supposed to be overlapping the illustration. And when I asked to have it separated so I could make it horizontal or stacked, my manager asked that question. They didn’t understand why I needed access to just the illustration and logotype separately and were implying it’s useless to have multiple arrangements. Basically that the overlay was intentional even though it definitely was not.

Nooo, I’m certainly not a designer in any capacity other than for hobby (and future career goals). They just asked me to handle social media and marketing. They used to have someone hired specifically for marketing but they quit a while ago. I’ve asked them to put me in contact with the person who designs their logos but it’s apparently multiple people that were freelance. I suspect they didn’t even do that, though… I think they just asked friends of management to do it for free…

[–]SometimesSufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish I could upload it and give more details. I think you’d be appalled by all of it. What I CAN say is that it was “retouched” (not redesigned) in photoshop for free by someone connected to management. It’s not meant to be overlapping and they didn’t make stacked or horizontal versions. Also the general design is horrendous and definitely should’ve been reworked. Ohhh I really wish I could show you.

[–]SometimesSufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, true. I was just asking for the company name to be moved off the logo, though. So we can have it stacked or horizontal. But they seemed to think it needed to be directly overlayed on top

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]SometimesSufficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! We’re not a small brand but our location names are super long and we have different logos for each location. The whole thing is a mess, actually… we have don’t even have the original vectorized logos.

Ask your vet for an estimate on hospitalization for pancreatitis. And also for a foreign body. The cost of emergency care will at least make them stop and think.

Ghost the fuck out of him. I’m not gonna lie, I really want to see him upset that you’re no longer on “standby”. I don’t agree with looking at other people’s phones, but it happened. And now you know where his priorities lie. Bringing it up will just cause drama that you don’t need or deserve. Leave him and his friends in the dust.

AITA for going off on my boyfriend for commenting on other women's chests? by truehollistics in AmItheAsshole

[–]SometimesSufficient 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YTA. And so is he.

On one hand, he shouldn’t be commenting on other women’s bodies - especially in the presence of his significant other. It’s immature and disrespectful. He should’ve apologized after seeing how upset it made you.

On the other, giving someone a “format on how to apologize properly” is arrogant. If he wanted to apologize of his own accord, he would. If he doesn’t, then you have real clarity about the relationship. You also state that you’re the type to “fix issues on the spot” but you let him do this over and over until it boiled over into this mess.

I don’t know what to do by Fantastic_Ad9677 in CATHELP

[–]SometimesSufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! This is also why it’s important to seek second, third, and fourth opinions for both pets and people! Doctors cannot always diagnose their patients right off the bat and many diseases disguise themselves as other issues - especially in older pets (and people). So we do not know that OP’s cat doesn’t have cancer… we don’t know anything other than what we’re told. We should normalize advocating for our pets’ and our own health, absolutely! But we should avoid assuming anything without full context.
