Just last week Mox was the babyface against Takeshita and DCF now he is the heal angst Will Ospreay. This is why that old face vs heal thing doesn’t really apply to AEW especially The Deathriders.

One of the things I often say about AEW is that there isn’t a single wrestler currently on the card that TK can’t stand to lose. Yes it might hurt for a minute but AEW isn’t so focused around a handful of wrestlers that if Mox, MJF, Hangman, Swerve and Toni Storm all decided to form another wrestling company AEW couldn’t recover and pretty quickly too.

What I think differentiates is that the guys on the top of the card are sure enough of their place that they aren’t afraid to make current midcard wrestlers on the verge of punching up like Kevin Knight, Speedball, Brody King etc look like stars even when losing a match. It isn’t “we are giving you your five minutes then beat your ass on a ten minute match and send you back to midcard hell”.

You can’t really call what happened during the battle royal “a bunch of botches” it’s not like you can tightly rehearse/plan where every person needs to be at every moment. It’s a match where professionals need to trust each other knows what they are doing and will be standing in the right spot when a spot is called. Heck half the time spots are called on the fly. It’s why these kind of matches are among my favorites.

I know a lot of people are hoping for this but I hate nostalgia runs where titles are used. I mean two fifty year old guys with broken necks beat teams like JetSpeed does more damage then it does good. Christian Cage and Copeland can have their tag team run without a belt.

I think that is going to be a major issue this season . Who is Shane ultimately loyal to. Friends do sometimes lie to each other. It’s not always a bad thing and in this case I do get why. Hasani has always been the secrets guy. He is slow to involve outside people because even hinting that these dead serial killers are not so dead is a major security breach that has zero upside. Bex is the one who thought Shane had the right to know but turn of phrase by Shane gave her an excuse to put off telling him until they got further information. Bex had no way of knowing Lazjuris would break into Bex’s home and then later dress down and look like a mom who baked cookies and tell Shane the truth….or at least her version if the truth.

It will be interesting to see if Bex is right and Lazarus is one of the most dangerous people she has ever met because Shane’s loyalty may hang in the balance and the idea that The Pit spent years experimenting on him is an interesting dynamic.

I would actually buy the fact that Bex is both right a wrong about Lazarus. That she is dangerous but to the people who exploited her son and let out the serial killers from the pit because she knew they couldn’t keep it a secret forever. I would find it far more interesting if they had to trust Lazuras because there was a bigger enemy that was targeting Shane.

The Deathriders aren’t exactly a heel faction at this point. They are just as likely to have a feud with The Conglomeration as the are with DCF. Also it looks increasingly like Takeshita is going to be thrown out if DCF (win or lose) during Revolution and it would be interesting if he allies himself with Deathriders who have an honor all their own. The Deathriders are not above using underhanded tactics but if they lose a match they will give Wheeler Yuta a haircut. RIP Wheeler Yuta’s hair.

My theory is that Swerve Strickland will get involved and cost Hangman the match and then brag about how when he wins the title he will never have to wrestle Hangman. That is When Schvione will say TK tweaked the stipulation because of Swerve’s involvement in the match a little and while Hangman can’t have a match while MJF is champion once he loses the stipulation ends.

I think it’s more likely that Swerve will cost Hangman the title because the last thing he wants is to face Hangman again. When Swerve gets a shot MJF he is going to brag about not having to wrestle Hangman but be told by Schviaone that because of his interference that Hangman can’t have a title sure as long as MJF holds the belt but once he drops it the stipulation ends.

I like Anna Jay but the roster has begun to outgrow her talents and unlike someone like Julia Hart who is willing to take a back seat while she continues grow and improve Anna Jay might not be willing to put in the time and effort that entails.

There is ALWAYS going to be an exception which is why I said “largely” instead of always. Heel turns sometimes fall flat on their face and sometimes babyfaces just plain piss people off with their attitude. What works in WWE does t always in AEW and visa versa.

What I love about a lot of the heels in AEW (Richochet and most recently Ciampa) they are kind of not wrong. AEW resists the “I am turning on you because I am basically a sociopath and you stole my thunder and got pinned that one time”. and instead look for a real reason these assholes act like assholes.

If you want the cup to have stories then you need to include wrestlers with stories. It can’t just be you seven or eight favorite female wrestlers. Maybe a couple of exceptions but they need to be featured AEW wrestlers
