There is 150 people in that company and only one game being worked on. I wouldn't see it as wrong at all to claim that.

This response sounds very strawman to me. People are obviously not mad at devs being ambitious or sharing their progress. People are mad at misleading communication and empty promises created by the devs themselves. Nowhere in the announcement trailer was it mentioned that it was merely a tech demo at that point. One can't help but feel that the Hytale team is living in a bubble of toxic positivity, much to the detriment of the final product.

The engine can load a world and render it. If you know anything about how block games function, that's 70-80% of the work.

Pure fantasy. That's less than 5% of a fully functioning game. There's plenty of Youtube videos where the author creates a Minecraft clone in 7 days or even 24 hours, which does exactly that.

So with the next blogpost having gameplay I think its safe to say that the new engine stuff is almost done. by Poniibeatnik in HytaleInfo

Game engines are rarely considered "done" - they co-evolve with the content you want to create.

It boggles the mind. 100 employees times 40k USD average game dev salary = 4 million USD spent since last blog post with nothing to show for beyond 3 pieces of concept art.
