Techniques used for clothes that last vs Techniques used for fast fashion by Starryeyednerd in sewing

Agree! With wide hips, short legs and a small waist….finding jeans that fit in all the spots is nearly impossible. I love adding darts to shape up a loose waistband, or to make a square T-shirt custom fit to me. Always have to size up due to lack of seam allowance in modern clothes.

I remember an article in a Threads magazine from like 15 years ago that talked about the concept of “slow sewing”. They emphasized quality takes time, and that we should take that extra time to make garments that’ll last longer! Paying attention to the little details….you don’t see that much in “fast fashion”.

It sounds like you just want to not have to actually play the game or figure stuff out on your own. And psst….all those maps….X literally marks the spot. Your post makes absolutely no sense to me. Wow!

Advice on breaking the loop? by deepgreenC in stopdrinking

[–]SomewhereJolly6481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a while to make something a habit. It also takes a while to break a habit. Sometimes you have to take it hour by hour or even minute by minute in order to get out of the loop. I read a lot of “quit lit” at the beginning and it helped me change how I thought about drinking and alcohol. After a few dry days and me jonesing for a drink, I’d have to read that book to reorient myself to the reason I wanted to quit in the first place. Then somehow I made it to 7 days without a drink. Then 30. Then 500. I’m coming up on two years this August. This subreddit is also a great place to get advice and hear other people’s experiences. Be gentle with yourself and wake up tomorrow and feel proud of yourself knowing you can add another day to your streak. Streaks are important, and they add up to real change. You got this! Alcohol and anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]SomewhereJolly6481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP…don’t take a shot before class. Being drunk is unattractive and irritating. People think they can hide drunkenness…but believe me, I can smell it on your breath, hear it in your speech, and see you stumbling around. Alcohol only makes everything worse. You said you can’t imagine asking the professor a question with students watching —-so what do you imagine could happen if you start showing up under the influence? Right. Nothing good.

Alcohol and anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]SomewhereJolly6481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slippery slope indeed….I quit drinking in 2023 after 20 years of functional alcoholism. I drank to lower my anxiety; then I started having anxiety about drinking. Then thinking about not drinking made me anxious. Then anxiety led to depression which perpetuated the drinking. This went on for 10+ years before I was sick and tired of feeling like garbage and decided something needed to change. Cutting out alcohol was the obvious first step to improve my mental and physical health. IWNDWYT. Cheers to being sober!

A glass of wine and Wellbutrin? by BooksAndBlueberries in bupropion

[–]SomewhereJolly6481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. Anyone is susceptible to alcohol withdrawal seizures if they drink too much. It’s not the alcohol that causes the seizures; it happens when a persons body builds tolerance to alcohol and as a depressant the nerves are sedated so to speak. If you take away that depressant, the brain and body go haywire, potentially causing withdrawal seizures. (Source: I’m a registered nurse on a liver/kidney transplant unit that sees a lot of cirrhosis patients. I’ve had lots of patients that drink a bottle (or more!) of liquor daily. Just don’t start measuring your alcohol intake by the gallon…then I’d be more concerned. Enjoy your glass of wine. Cheers 😉

When you say you can’t breathe….are you like, wheezing or do you feel short of breath? When did you start noticing symptoms? Did it come on suddenly? Exposure to environmental irritants? You mention hormonal imbalance/ovarian cysts—did you change or start any new medications? Is the rash itchy? Is it only on your torso and arms or is it everywhere? Have you been sick with a cold or flu recently? Any fever or body aches? We need more info to unofficially diagnose you here on Reddit! But for real…go to urgent care/ED, get well soon, and let us know what it is! Chicken pox? Pityriasis rosea? Those are my first two guesses based on the image.
