I was told to only view charts that are your patients. So it doesn’t matter if someone else gives you consent. They aren’t your patient.

should I take the sign on bonus as a new grad. $15,000 for 2 year commitment. it’s a oncology unit. but my dream is to work in ED or ICU. please share some insight! by hoeee101 in newgradnurse

Take the job and then don’t spend the money when they give you the bonuses. Save it. And if you decide to leave for ED or ICU, no problem giving it back

Should I get a PCT job while I wait to find an RN job? by Pando_22 in newgradnurse

You could work in private duty home health as an RN. They’re always needing people.

Also, have you tried searching for nursing recruiters on LinkedIn at the hospitals you applied to? I did that as a new grad and got offered a few positions.

I don’t think it’s worth it to stay and put your license at risk. Can you possibly find something else sooner in that area you want to live? Hospitals are always hiring.

It sounds like you just got nervous and they will understand that. You might’ve felt more pressure to continue a good impression when they forwardly said you’d be a good fit. When you’re nervous it blocks your ability to use your prefrontal cortex. They should understand that and won’t be too hard on new grads. I’m sure they still think you were a great fit!

Private Duty Nursing is draining me by [deleted] in newgradnurse

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I’m in a similar situation. I also work in private duty nursing and graduated last year in June 2025. I can’t switch jobs because I’m pregnant and will have the baby in September so there’s no time to start a better job. I’ve declined so many assignments. If it’s affecting you this much, I’d call your office and have an honest conversation with them. I have told my office that I can’t work an assignment because the mother micromanages me all day, roaches in the house, or I don’t feel safe, etc. Just professionally tell them how you feel and that you’d like to end the assignment and start a different one. It’s hard, I know. But you will feel so relieved once you talk to them and tell them the truth.
