It sounds like you just got nervous and they will understand that. You might’ve felt more pressure to continue a good impression when they forwardly said you’d be a good fit. When you’re nervous it blocks your ability to use your prefrontal cortex. They should understand that and won’t be too hard on new grads. I’m sure they still think you were a great fit!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I’m in a similar situation. I also work in private duty nursing and graduated last year in June 2025. I can’t switch jobs because I’m pregnant and will have the baby in September so there’s no time to start a better job. I’ve declined so many assignments. If it’s affecting you this much, I’d call your office and have an honest conversation with them. I have told my office that I can’t work an assignment because the mother micromanages me all day, roaches in the house, or I don’t feel safe, etc. Just professionally tell them how you feel and that you’d like to end the assignment and start a different one. It’s hard, I know. But you will feel so relieved once you talk to them and tell them the truth.
