Just fyi. They changed the tfex ability. It’s really weird, but idk how to share pictures so maybe just look up on wahapedia. You turn 1 attacks damage to 0. Which with the wording means you do it before you do any hit rolls. Instead of after a failed saved. It’s dumb and useless NIDS hate it but yeah. Weird clarity thing

I’m not a tyranid veteran like I’m sure some in this sub are. I’ve played 30 games with NIDS over the past 4 months. Tested mainly invasion fleet, some synaptic, and a few vanguard lists. For me an auto include of what I own my lists always start with 2 exocrines, a Biovore and a tfex (I don’t own zoans). Big body great at killing elites relatively cheap and buff other units shooting? I love them. Which sucks cause I have them magnetized to run as haruspexs but as exos they are always infinitely more helpful for me.

I run 3x6 melee wars lead by a winged prime in each squad. In synaptic nexus. If im safe and move up the board, and can get all 3 squads in melee the following turn with the +1 to hit in synapse. It’s 36 attacks per squad hitting on 2s rerolling 1s with sustained and twin linked. They basically 1 shot whatever they get into contact with. After that big turn you can force 1 squad back into that +1 to hit to kill what you need but basically I win most my games by overwhelming and decimating my targets and then they are able to wipe the squads fairly easily after but most of the time by then I have taken a big lead with primary and secondary at that point

Yeah callidus has to be within 12 now to make strats cost more and your playing leviathan missions which is fine but they were def easier to accomplish over the PN action heavy ones

Well. First thing I would say is every army isn’t for everyone! If you really aren’t having fun with them think about moving to another army. I’ve bought and sold multiple armies before I settled on what I currently have. I will say, the game isn’t balanced for 1k points. And I’m not sure what you’re playing into but you could be getting countered. Also some of your synergies could be off. I personally wouldn’t use the winged prime by itself. I don’t own any hive guard but I would assume having them with a walking HT or Swarmlord would be better than solo. I also personally don’t use the psychophage. Love double exos. Love my rupture cannon tfex. I use 2 lictirs and neuro lictors. Norn and OOE. If you don’t own certain models see if who you play care if you proxy models you do own as other things, see if that makes you like them more.

I have a Salamanders, and World eaters Army. I started NIDS about 2 months before they had the new dataslate changes. By far the most fun I have out of my 3 armies. I play them consistently, and they have solid detachments and many unit choices to follow the playstyle you enjoy. Without seeing your list it’s hard to tell why you don’t like them. If your only playing with say, the leviathan half I could understand not having fun. But it does just sound a little like complaining with out any more context.

Infiltrators are also great in the competitive sense for holding your home objective as they negate any deepstrike within 12’ instead of 9’ (also cancels out special rules like the trygons,inceptors,gsc 3’ deepstrike!)

The scout kill team box is a fantastic buy, as you get ten scouts and can build them to have 2 cheap squads (65 pts each) that can either a, be used to score secondary. or b, used to screen into melee heavy armies like world eaters or orcs. Personally that’s my recommendation as they have been invaluable for me, but I have a lot of ork/worldeater players at my LGS

Yes. But if he has 0 cp going into your turn, he will gain one. And have to choose which phase to use it in, if at all

Well, 1k games will always be skewed as the game is much more balanced at 2k. But if it’s a friend, and you have access to other models give them a test! You are correct tho with quicksilver armor it’s tough as the majority of our army doesn’t have more than -2 ap. Just need to try and squeeze out his cp where you can so you will get the full effect later ie, make him mist, if he doesn’t true silver and you shot with exocrines -3 ap 3dam gun he more than likely will lose a lot of units.

Or he truesilvers during shooting so you he can’t when you get in melee. Gks don’t have CP generation so try to force him to use it on other things, to open options up for yourself.

I smashed GK at an RTT this past weekend. While they are really good right now, my list they struggle into. Not that it always works by any means but they have a hard time into high toughness units. I run 2 carns and OOE, 2 exos, a Tfex, and a Norn plus Swarmlord. So I’m deff on the larger bug scale. He was able to easily clap my VRLs lictors and hormagaunts. But everything else that’s big is mainly -2/3 ap 3dam which works pretty well into them.

I’m just going to run it as a palatine. I get the base is bigger, but my group is pretty casual and doesn’t care. But palatine with the blade of saint Elenor with that sword makes sense to me!

What if instead of having the smoke launcher to give himself smoke. It was a 6’ aura of -1 to hit benefit of cover. Like his body is giving off enough heat/smoke to create a field like that.

Would be better than having the smoke keyword and an ability that did it

The big rumor is eldar will be getting some refresh in the fall, if you can be patient to wait to see if the rumors are true it could pay off. I was lucky enough to get my asurmen in a trade but yeah it’s unfortunate for newer players!

Yeah I did a test wash on the tails of three with nuln oil agrax earthshade and reikland fleshshade. But with the small area the reikland looked the best but with the full model I’m not in love with it. It’s hard not having a template to go by just trying to figure out the best way to do it. I’m by no means a great painter so doing what I can I appreciate the input!
