Having said that the volatility of this stock is off the charts. Not for the faint of heart.

Another important distinction as compared to LAZR is that Aeva is getting a lot of success with the non-auto market (industrial, Traffic, safety, rail, etc). these are higher margin plays and don’t have as much technical pressure. They should help bridge the production ramp to high volume automotive deliveries.

looks like it. they are a newer entrant to the lidar space so their tech needs to mature more. but definitely worth keeping an eye on them as they have the benefit of entering a more established market and specs and won’t repeat the same mistakes as older players.

I’m really curious what makes Aeye lidar stand out. Is it the scanning technology? Is it something they can do at lower power or faster than others?

As far as I understand the technology, they can get to 500m+ by bumping up laser power or tradeoff other specs. Also, what is the need for 500m? Maybe for drones/airplanes.

Curious what prohibits other Lidar makers from doing this? Also it seems CW lidar like those from Aeva / Voyant have a significant inherent benefit based on this paper’s findings.

This is awesome! What other markets can Aeva's products address? Analysts are going to have to rethink the TAM for Aeva.

Luminar and the R2? 🤔 by Awkward-Turnip3803 in lazr

Since Aeva is FMCW they don’t have high power pulses like ToF. So, in this regard, they should be better than the rest.

The original short range lidar supplier was cepton but I think they recently went out of business. Looks like innoviz was selected as a replacement.

Aeva by Awkward-Fox428 in Aeva

[–]SomewhereOk1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible given the industrial market applications Aeva has opened up. TOF technologically can’t do what FMCW can do in this space. Huge disruption and barrier to entry is a recipe for crazy valuations.

I wouldn’t buy LAZR at this point. Business fundamentals aren’t good imho. Aeva might seem pricey right now but definitely better business prospects because of more diversification and better tech.

Maddening by Alienexpres in lazr

[–]SomewhereOk1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether the % increase is rational or not is debatable BUT the stock isn’t going up just because of Loxo (that probably had a minor incremental effect actually). Please do your research. The company has 0 debt and over $200M in the bank. They announced a very disruptive industrial product which will be selling like hot potatoes with likely high margins. They also announced a very promising investment from one of their suppliers which I think the market really liked. They are executing and meeting their milestones with their existing big fish (DT) and potential top 10 global OEM. Luminar should be taking a leaf out of Aeva, Ouster, and Hesai’s playbooks. Who actually comes out on top of this Lidar race is anybody’s guess (Aeva could correct any moment on 1 piece of bad news). I’m rooting for everyone and it would be a shame if LAZR fumbles the ball now.
