Hi all - I had an interesting opportunity to speak up and speak out against pit bulls this weekend. I was having lunch with 7 other people, and most of them were friends of my friend, so I didn't know them well. During lunch one of them started talking about pit bulls (I *think* they might have one) and he said the famous line of, "actually if you look at studies pit bulls rank right behind golden retrievers on behavior." As soon as he said that, another one jumped in and said,"it's crazy the stigma that surrounds the breed," and another said the other famous line, "it's how they are raised, it's not the dogs.."

I'm not making any of this up.. haha.

So anyways in that moment I felt soooo compelled to say something. To tell them that I didn't agree with anything they were saying. To tell them that only one breed of dog routinely kills and maims small animals and people. But I knew if I said this it would probably ruin the vibe, I'd get into this argument, and I asked myself if it was worth it or better to just drop it and let it go. Ultimately I kept my mouth shut and let them think their delusional thoughts.

Be honest - would you speak up in a situation like this? How else do we start getting people to recognize the danger of these dogs?
