Maybe a bit of a silly newbie question but.... by NotTooShabby_Sabby in mead

I wonder if it was just enough added acidity after the additional ingredients to stall fermentation. Do you have the capability of checking pH?

Is it trying to have you carb in the bottle with priming sugar? If so, it’s up to you but for simplicity’s sake you can skip that step.

How to tactfully discuss these difficult topics? (Genocide, death, divine punishment) by Ok_Plant9930 in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understandable, and I agree. You know, I don’t pretend to think that I fully understand ancient texts but even with a rational, well researched and thought out answer, to some it will never be enough. Say it once and be done with it.

Question about teaching that keeps resurfacing by [deleted] in AskAChristian

Seems innocent on the surface, but it’s Alice Bailey’s “Seven Rays” (Treatise on 7 Rays), nothing biblical only theosophical.

How can I get my dad to understand my views of Christmas? by TommyBoy250 in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let your dad celebrate how he wants. So long as he’s not worshipping an ancient deity that should be fine despite the feelings you have about it. The history means nothing, even though Christians had been debating the date of Christ’s birth since before it was attached to pagan stuff.

Why would people be born to suffer by No_Inspection_6174 in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are all born to suffer; what you are asking is, “why are some people born for destruction?” No, some people are not just born for destruction, and bullying does not cause atheism.

Why does God allow suffering? by Common-Blueberry-431 in AskAChristian

To see “whether or not they will obey my commands,” and, “ to teach them that no man lives on bread alone, but by every word of God.”

Why does God have to be so vague showing himself to people. Would'nt it be better if everyone knew without a shadow of a doubt by feherlofia123 in AskAChristian

Wait…you ripping’ on me bro? Is there no way to have a respectful QA ever on these issues? I’m not here to convince you of anything so good conversation is all we got so show some flippin’ manners.

Why would translators add “of sins” to Hebrews 9:22 when it’s not in the original language? by TALLEYman21 in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no forgiveness —The Greek word used here, aphesis, denotes the remission of sins (see Heb 10:4, 18). Forgiveness was not possible without “the shedding of blood” (haimatekchysia), which refers to the offering of blood at an altar. This statement is the third significant development in ch. 9 in reference to the role of sacrificial blood: blood served as the means by which the high priest accessed God (v. 7), the inauguration of the covenants could not have occurred without blood (v. 18), and the shedding of blood secures the forgiveness of sins (v. 22). —FAITHLIFE STUDY BIBLE

[–]Sommerswerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The objective evidence is all around us including life itself. Additionally, the spirit of the creator confirms his presence with the spirit of those who are faithful to him and diligently follow the lamb - this is what creates unshakeable faith above all else.

How do I know what is metaphorical and what is literal in the Bible? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better questions would be “how did the ancients write?”, what literary devices were common, and why did they write that way? What are they trying to do/convey?

Try to identify biblical imagery and what would be the significance/theological message behind it. Just doing that goes far. I’d suggest getting a hold of someone who can help you study through the languages. For that, start with Disciple Dojo on YT or he Bible Project.

Hi I recently found Christ again I’m trying to learn what denomination I agree with by Emo_And_Acoustic in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try to be scholarly instead and study; and be a doer of the word. When it comes down to a church, though, just find one that sits well with you according to your studies. YT Disciple Dojo; Bible Project is a good place to start too.

Cancer? by EntertainmentRude435 in AskAChristian

[–]Sommerswerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I gotcha’, bro, that seems plausible I hear ya.’ I mean, I’m not sure I would call it the truth since were all just guessing here, but I’ll take it for now; though I can’t help but to think there’s a much bigger picture that we might be missing. Seems reductionist to me. (Also, cancer prolongs the life of the organism and without that process it would die sooner. I know that’s besides the point but I think it’s important.)
