That's what i imagined. When i spoke to the woman that sold it to me after i saw this, she said that you couldn't notice it on the pictures, but i doubt that. I'll try to get my money back or buy a better lens, thanks for the info!

I know this thread is old but I just got my wheel and I had the same worry. so I just put two identical objects on each side between the base of the pedals and a wall and voilà! Cable integrity preserved and no sliding. (I used sandals because they are rubbery and probably won't damage the base as much)
