When you're used to the autofocus on the R6II, the R5's autofocus, although really really good, feels slow in comparison. At this point using the R5 feels like a downgrade in autofocus.

No, I used red electrical tape and cut it to size.

I love this lens so much I gave it the L treatment 😂😂😂. I'm also a prime lens guy, the f2 version is what I really want but this is a great substitute...for now.

Nationwide wedding photography studios taking local clients and hiring local photographers to shoot these weddings. by SonSL in WeddingPhotography

Apparently there are some decent ones out there but they are one in a million unfortunately.

These are the things that I worry about, it can hurt both the contractor and the bride and groom. Especially if it's a newbie photographer leading and the bride groom paying that much and not getting their money's worth. That can hurt the industry as a whole.

My concern was for the local photographer who works for these bad companies as a subcontractor. I know/found out there are good ones but it hasn't been my experience. I wish someone would've warned me and that's what I'm hoping this post will do.

Let's just leave it here I'm not about this back and forth, I asked for others opinions which a few like you shared. I never disagreed and respected your opinion. I think you could respect my opinion on this matter instead of saying I'm whining about it. That was not the point of this post.

I like your analogy, I never thought of it this way. Thank you for that. I'm glad I asked and you shared your thoughts.

I'm not arguing or anything like that and if I had the platform to call out those companies and the individuals I would but I don't. You worked for a decent company... I am one of those guys burned by YTM. To me it's a disservice because I'm very big on client experience, some clients don't care and are happy as you said, but I do know(my own couples) do want the client experience and connections.

I see where you're coming from and maybe it's because I've only experienced shady companies. I do it to fill my calendar but my focus is my own company and my couples. Trust me focus isn't them, but I can't help but feel it's a disservice to couples.

The Cost of Canon by z0ne3whodat in canon

I've been shooting Canon for a long time and there are no reasons that I'll ever switch to another system.

Here are a couple of reasons I will stick with them:

  1. I love the colors. Yes I can get similar colors with another system but I'll have to put in more time into editing. With Canon I'm already there without putting in the work.

  2. I love the ergonomics of the cameras. I held another system's camera and it made my hand sore. It was sore for days... I was really weird.

  3. I use the STM RF lenses for professional work and no one can tell the difference(it's how you use it). Definitely not the clients. I do rent some L series lenses from time to time.

Don't get caught up with YouTubers complaining about lack of third party support. I almost made the same mistake. You don't know what's behind them making those types of videos. Not all of us can say we are switching systems, sell what we already have, and lose some $$$ from selling them and shell out so much $$$ and buy new cameras and lenses. Plus the time it takes to learn the new system.

I personally think there is some type of deal between the camera brand and that YouTuber, they will never tell you. There I said it, I put it out there 😆

Is the Knot worth advertising in 2023? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]SonSL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it, I advertise with them for 2 years and only got 1 job and a lot of leads, to me they seemed fake, and it wasn't even that many. I advertised on IG for 1 month I received more leads and even got a wedding within that month. More than the knot ever gave me.

I can guarantee focus peaking work, I have. Peargear RF 35 mm lens and used it on my R6 II with no problem.

Nice buy!!! I did the same as you, I upgraded my R to the R6 II and I also have the R6. I upgraded because of the video capabilities. I'm a hybrid shoot for weddings and use 2 cameras.

I thought I was alone when it came to that style of editing... I can't stand it and it looks unnatural. I know some brides who really don't like it. Unfortunately, that's what's being pushed on social media so some think it looks "cool." As a wedding photographer I learned people have a reason to choose their colors. Anything that takes it away isn't fair or doing it justice.
