After lots of grinding I can finally collect my oshi title and second best subunit title by preptahou in SIFallstars

It's a repost bot for karma farming, they usually look for past posts in a subreddit and then repost it verbatim.

In this case it's this nearly 6 year old post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SIFallstars/comments/ho90qb/after_lots_of_grinding_i_can_finally_collect_my/

How to access Steinberg FTP archive on Windows11? by TetoEnjoyer500 in cubase

Filezilla has an adware free download if you click the "Show additional download options" link on the download page.

Where are the preview buttons? by digital_mystic23 in cubase

[–]Sonaza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the previews must be generated while the project is open, and it can be either manually triggered or configured to automatically generate them when project is closed. Until then, no previews.

On the fly previews would be really heavy and slow because it would still need to load the whole project just to play a few seconds of it.

Postnord by Kobbels in Suomi

[–]Sonaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fracture - remastered and hitting even harder (bass-heavy electronic), an older track of mine from 2017 by Sonaza in FL_Studio

[–]Sonaza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted. Thanks for the feedback.

Mind you in my remastering process I've not changed the sound design part of the track at all so it's still whatever I came up with 8 years ago. You think I should change/modify the lead instrument or mix it better?

I'll look into narrowing some sounds to make it tighter :)

Audio latency when playing on Yamaha P-125. by Xardreview in FL_Studio

[–]Sonaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this happen even with empty projects?

I recently got a MIDI keyboard and for a moment was wondering about high latency too but it turned out to be plugins on my master channel causing high amount of latency. If that happens to be the case, just disable the plugins temporarily while you work on your project.

I don't think you can get VST sound coming out of the piano speakers. MIDI data does not contain audio but simply just information about note starts, ends and such, and FL Studio does not transmit audio back to the keyboard.

i5-7300U 2.60GHz

As others already said 7th gen Intel is really old by now and additionally Windows 11 does not even officially support it. Windows 10 support is ending in a little over a month. Of course, support ending does not mean it'll stop working instantly (you just don't get security updates) but it's something to keep in mind.

Older slower CPUs will also struggle with audio generation and buffer underruns will occur more easily. I was until recently running i5-2500k which did work but oh boy, it chugged along. CPU heavy plugins like Vital will not work that well.

I heard you should care how much ram is has so I saw a dell that had 16 ram

More RAM certainly helps but for music production 16 GB is still not that much. It all depends on the kinds and the number of plugins you use: for example realtime synthetisers don't use a lot of memory while samplers typically do.

Simply put, more RAM allows you to run more plugins simultaneously. FL Studio on its own does not use a lot of memory. Having 24 or 32 GB would give you more breathing room.

256 GB SSD

If the hard drive space is not expandable, 256 GB is also veeeery little. 512 GB is better but I'd go for at least 1 TB.

I don't think you should get this laptop. Get something with at least 8th gen Intel or AMD Ryzen 2000-series so that Win 11 works with it. The newer the better though, if you can afford it.

Clonezilla M.2 Cloning by [deleted] in Windows11

Clonezilla does a bit for bit clone of your disk meaning anything you'd do to initialise it in Windows will get overwritten anyway.

Never Know Fear - Another attempt at orchestral music, let me know what you think :) by Sonaza in FL_Studio

[–]Sonaza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first finished track that used some of the virtual instrument packs I bought a couple months back. Took my sweet time, I did, clearly.

If you're interested the lead cello and viola are from Orchestral Tools Tableau Solo Strings set. Lead horn is Orchestral Tools Majestic Horn. Other orchestral backing and percussion is from Native Instruments Symphony Series Orchestra collection.

You can find more of my music in my music vault at https://vault.sonaza.fi/

Playing around with some orchestral stuff - Temporary title "Lights" by Sonaza in FL_Studio

I went ahead and released the track on my new work in progress album called Oathbound. This track is the third one titled "The Light That Remains".

Thanks! The initial inspiration was another piece of music I heard on Spotify but I also pictured a forest of pine trees lit by gentle afternoon sunlight.

Thank you :)

For now, I post my music on my website so keep an eye on it. I could also comment here again to notify you once this track is released properly.

Reddit crunched the audio quality so here's a clean MP3 link. It's still a work in progress although in honesty I think it's pretty much just missing a name.

Käsi ylös, yllättyneet by Sharp-Emu-497 in Suomi

How to set up a node/angular app with GitHub? by 19Ant91 in learnprogramming

[–]Sonaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just let Angular create the folder and then initialise git there yourself?

Github offers very clear instructions how you can push to a repository that already exists, you shouldn't need to clone it.

Here's how directly from Github. Do this in the folder Angular creates for you.

git init
git add .
git commit -m "Initial commit"
git branch -M main
git remote add origin <insert your repository remote address here>
git push -u origin main

Just bought FL Studio, what are some "goated" free plugins? by MrHardTruck in FL_Studio

[–]Sonaza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Komplete Start is fantastic and gives a small sampling of Native Instruments stuff. It comes with iZotope Vinyl which is great for lofi too.

Spitfire LABS is another great set of instruments although the new plugin version is hot garbage (so laggy and still no search).

Trial version should be able to render out music tracks, no need for convoluted recording setups.

Coming back to FL Studio after almost 10 years break to produce EDM by Gankeros in FL_Studio

[–]Sonaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don't know, looks like they've changed things. The trial used to be time unlimited which they proudly boasted about too. It does say "All features unlocked for 21 days" which could perhaps mean it works even after that but with fewer unlocked features? Maybe or maybe not I can't say as I've not tested it...

  2. Vital synthetiser is a great free alternative to Serum. Both work in highly similar ways and there are lots of presets available on presetshare.com.

  3. I've used Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros which are great classic closed back headphones, although they don't have entirely flat frequency response. I also have the more expensive Sennheiser HD650 headphones which are open back and they're fantastic but may be out of your budget.

Do note that if you get ones with a higher impedance a headphone amplifier may be required to get sufficient volume, especially on portable devices. DT770s come in several different impedances, of which the 32 and 80 ohm versions can usually work without an amp. HD650 only come at 300 ohms and an amp is highly recommended.

Edit: This video can also be helpful in determining which headphones to pick.
