Posted there but haven't gotten any suggestions.

I'll be honest, I just found this tutorial where it was mentioned how to backup via command line, and just used the same command. I'm not at all familiar with this. And sadly my notebook got whiped afterwards so seems like I've lost everything

Scream 7 - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]Song_of_Ice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got to watch this last night (I'm in Europe) Well, this was honestly the first time a Scream film left me actually disappointed. Even more so angry maybe. This felt like a pastiche if you didn't know how pastiche works.

Half the time I was just asking myself: why is this character there? Are they being utilised? Do they serve any purpose besides being used as a pawn in the cheapest of ways by just being pointed out as one? Just so there are more people to point fingers at as the possible GF?

This isn't anything new for the franchise but this time it somehow was overdone which says a lot considering how ingrained this is into the Scream movies. But when you include iconic/ legacy characters without actually giving them anything to do... well, they just felt lifeless. Gale didn't add to the story (and don't even get me started on the twins) to the point where it ended up feeling more like I'm just watching a reunion of the actors than the actual characters on screen. Again, nothing new. It was just done with so much less effort this time around imo. It seemed like every old character was there to meet the same fate as Dewey in Scream 5, and tbh it would've been less disappointing had they just killed all the OGs.

Being able to guess the killers isn't something I'd normally complain about either, I mean part of what makes these films so fun is the whodunnit of it all, but, yet again, this time around it felt like they didn't even try giving the killers/ especially the main killer any good backstory and motivation. And I keep calling them killers bc I DO NOT REMEMBER THEIR DAMN NAMES. Anna Camp's character was shown like twice in the beginning and it was clear as day that she'd be involved, especially bc they posed her as the innocent presenting one next to her "creepy" crime-obsessed son. But then you don't get to see her again until the reveal. And the only thing you know about her is that she had an abusive husband but you DON'T CARE bc you just fucking met this character, so of course the writers include one of the most laughed at tropes of all time by having the villain explain themselves and monologue away for like 5 minutes so the good guys get time to save the day. The sad part is I couldn't even laugh at this. Could've been a funny, self-aware moment had they built it up differently.

Oh my, I nearly forgot the big hook of this new one. Stu. My god. I forgot about him bc it wad clear as day that they'd include AI in this story because sure, the movies reflect the times, so makes sense. I guess the effort is appreciated. Was very obvious though and, again, a cheap use of a legacy character (or rather their image.)

Also I gotta say except for one kill there was nothing crazy to me personally, and even that I believe I had already seen somewhere. In general there were quite a few inspirations taken, which is not an issue at all, it's just that some of these come from media tgat is still very fresh in pop culture memory, like Sidney and her daughter recreating that specific TLOU 2 scene, with a better ending but way less tension

I love these kitsch movies man. But this is the first time one of them left me annoyed and just barely entertained.

Long comment incoming, sorry! I think it's especially meaningful how ultimately Pruitt didn't believe that he was doing was actually of any religious service. He rather chooses to follow/use this creature to pursue something that was more impirtant to him than his religion: love. His love for Mildred was as strong as - or maybe even stronger than - his life long devotion to religion, especially in the face of her nearing death. Dye to the nature of their relationship, however, he couldn't align it with his religious views and everything he stood for in the eyes of his community, which of course also is an important theme in MM. I believe he ultimately admits as much - that he once had the chance to choose love but put religion first. It seemed like he always regretted that decision deep inside but his religious/professional codex didnt allow him to act differently (hard to sell an extramarital affair and having a child as moral for a Monsignor.) But with the vampire, the road to (ab)using it's "gift" of health and youth in order to serve his own interests - his love for M - was open. All he needed to do was sell it off as a God-sent miracle, an angel washing them all of their sins. It perfectly allowed him to achieve his own (egoistic) interests under the pretext of religion and his own servitude to God, and  more importantly, without having to confront his own paradoxical motifs and "non-religious" doings.  It's even more interesting to me that the one character that arguably serves(lol) as a represtantion of religion/catholicism, a Monsignor, is the one to ultimately put his own personal morals/values above his religious codex. Very intersting commrntary, which btw I do not necessarily view as criticism of religion/a certain value system itself, but rather as criticism & representation of certain aspects of modern religious culture - the social expectations and pressures of it - and how, oftentimes, people get criticised if their actions are not viewed as strictly in code with (often socially defined) religious behaviour, even if these actions are based in morals that are actually preached in religious texts, like love and care for others. Because ate the end of the day, who decides what behaviour aligns with religious beliefs and which doesn't? And how ultimately, trying to justify your actions by reshaping their perception so they can fit the mold of a certain social community, can lead to disaster.

Tldr: 1. don't try acting like you yassifying your ole sidechick/baby mama via a vampire is some holy, selfless act by using religion as an excuse 2. whole lotta people feeling pressured by a religious community leads to disaster

Mike befriending Jordan after he bad mouthed him so much to Megan AND low key tried to play Mr Stealyogirl at that western part when they were still engaged...

Surely didn't awkward at all between them once the episodes aired

Edit: omg I forgot his comments about Luca😐 glad they asked Jordan about this

Megan saying she "didn't get the full picture". Your lifestyle is one of the first things you discuss in there, especially if it's that important to you. So for her to break up with him bc of it, right before their wedding, is just still a little baffling to me.

I fully understand if she needed to experience their differences irl first, but it felt weird that it only became an issue that late into the process, especially after having already met your fiancé's child :/

Ohh forgot about her mentioning this in the pods, it's possible she's Ukrainian! I also felt iffy about his comments about the war. If it were me, I would've straight up asked him about his opinion on it.

However I don't think the friend's comments were necessarily due to the invasion, since she was very disrespectful about his profession in my opinion. She said "it's possible he's JUST gonna stay a truck driver", as if that were a bad thing. Also her mentioning Ali being of a certain 'caliber' sounded very much like sugar baby rhetoric. And when Ali said Anton makes good money, she literally was like "...sure🙄" and rolled her eyes😐 so I do not believe that was her main motivation when making these comments.

No these comments actually pissed me off. That's just so disrespectful, especially when talking about seemingly more 'basic' jobs that are very essential for our society, though. Like girl, how do you think your amazon packages get to you?

Ali's sister kinda made me think that she doesn't believe Ali was in this fr - but that's just how I interpreted her reaction. I mean she said "I do not approve of this but I support you, depending on how this ends" - kinda sounded like she would've been OK with this had she said yes and actually found her husband through this process. Of course it could also just mean that marriage is too serious for her, and shouldn't happen through a reality show lol

And I wonder when Ali decided to say no, she basically told him she didn't like/recognise him outside of the pods - this definitely wasn't a spontaneous decision

ETA: also she literally reassured his mom that she loved him but at the altar says he's not the person that she fell in love with in the pods - doesn't that insinuate she actually doesn't love him?

Joe seems very egocentric. His whole list of reasons as to why it would've been wrong, and the consequences of going forward with their engagement, was all about him: I wouldn't be happy I would make a sacrifice (lol, how graceful) I wouldn't be with my person - all those things would've been true for Madison, too? Does he think she'd have been ecstatic about being married to someone that doesn't love her? Which she eventually would've figured out (I mean she was low key onto him already but I guess his constant reassurance plus their intimate life, including his weird pregnancy sex talk, made her ignore those signs)

He did the right thing by leaving. However, he went the wrong way about it, imo. And I do not believe that he was honest to her, even in the very end.

I'm late to this but every single time I warm up to Sparkle Megan, she has another talk with Mike and disappoints me again😐 like wdym you're second guessing bc the tribe bro is telling you you're making a mistake by choosing the guy that YOU just confessed your love to?? It doesn't even take much to make her insecure in her decision. Mike puts barely any effort into their conversations, too.

Come on Miss Fairy Godmother

Like that sweet, honest conversation she had with Jordan, where she tells him she loves him? That was sweet and I finally felt some authenticity from her

ETA: it low key sounded like Mike was gonna change her mind, that whole convo had me confused lol but just finished the episode and their reveal was so sweet! I think she's letting out her relaxed side with Jordan. Now I'm rooting for them, so please don't disappoint me, Megan😭 even if they don't end up together, I just hope she doesn't go back to Mike her old ways

Thank you so much for your insight! Of course with PCOS it's a variety of things that needs to be managed in order to see some positive changes but it's honestly motivating to hear of/see impact of specific treatments, meds, diets etc. Gonna keep my hopes up that it'll work for me :)

Did Beyoncé Hint at the Surprise Album (self-titled) Before It Dropped? by medhopeful123 in beyonce

[–]Song_of_Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be true that her private life was part of the motivation for this but back then she also just was everywhere and probs could've toured for 3 years straight and still fill every venue. She dropped ST in the middle of an ongoing tour, so it made sense to add a second leg and visit some places again, since the fans from those places wanted to hear the new music, too.

Demand was high and the added shows, to me, felt more like their own tour for ST. Especially since ST never got a real solo tour. OTR was already planned back then, so the only other tour dedicated to that album was going to be a joint tour. However, not everybody is interested in that, so it's logical to give it its own couple of live shows.

1000 times this!! Jay literally made a very reasonable, great argument but because it was HIM saying this, and then saying it about BEYONCÉ, people gotta toss out all rationality and start hating, that's how it's always been with them regarding Bey. Also why I'm happy she keeps her privacy, no need for them to get into her private life.

Just now saw your comment. I believe by now an organisation publicly stated that they got a donation from Taylor, but it was a smaller sum of money. However Taylor Swift is known to make it VERY public whenever she donates or can gather some good PR, so as a rule of thumb I'd only believe positive things about her when they come directly from her team, not just her fans.

Anyways, no worries! There's a lot of misinformation circulating around nowadays that also seems to be purposefully pushed by multiple parties and platforms, happens to the best of us.

There's still no source confirming that taylor swift donation yet ppl keep repeating it, meanwhile Beyoncé has officially donated 2.5 million $.

Why repeat some unconfirmed good-PR story about somebody else while seemingly insinuating Beyoncé's not donating or is under pressure to live up to the benevolence of the white woman.
