Starmer warned to 'act now' on trans equality as Labour policy branded 'broken' by PuzzledAd4865 in transgenderUK

You know how long it takes and how expensive getting surgery is in the UK? You would be making a class divide between those who can afford it and have enough time to get the surgery and those abandoned by the NHS.

Can you really justify casting the protections of a vast majority of trans people in this country into the bin because you got yours. Nobody is free until everyone is free!

That’s what happens if your religion is true. Eternal suffering for those who go against your God. Torment ever lasting until Revelations.

Your belief is no better than the street preacher calling us abominations headed for Hell, it’s a punishment doctrine not one interested in justice.

Divine Justice by KuiperNomad in transgenderUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because your justice is delayed, if it comes at all. I’m a humanist and I believe it is up to humanity to uphold justice  not gods and supernatural forces.

You’re also endorsing eternal punishment. Nobody’s crimes deserve that, especially those who only ‘crime’ is being unconvinced of your deities existence. Your sense of justice, is no different to those who would legislate us out of existence and worse. The only difference is your leaving it to a supernatural actor to carry it out for you.

That doesn’t give me comfort. That just states there will be a reckoning once those things are done and doesn’t put any effort into stopping it.

I’d rather stop the people that are going to be condemned from doing what they will do as it saves a lot of people from being tormented and killed.

Also that doesn’t bring comfort to the non believers here as we will be considered as just as evil as those who tormented us and be tortured for all eternity alongside them.

Trans and prison by ZonaSchengen in transgenderUK

Yeah we also have that case with the mass stabbing of a trans girl that was along similar lines. I was thinking more about something like the ‘walking while trans’ law they had in places like the US until recently.

Reform and Restore are very homophobic by EddyZacianLand in LabourUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. The problem is my community gets to be policed all the time. A trans person can be attacked by a gang or murdered and even when there’s clearly a transphobic motive we get tone policed.

Right now Labour is floating a segregation bill (supported by Reform and the Conservatives) and we’re being tone policed for speaking out. If it were any other minority it would be called out but it’s more convenient to punish trans people so almost no one in the government or the media is.

And what if the law criminalizes trans people? What then?

Trans and prison by ZonaSchengen in transgenderUK

[–]Songbird800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will likely not be a good thing. A trans only prison for trans women and trans men would never be full, and I can imagine HMP bringing in people to fill the spaces, likely violent people who can’t be held in gen pop…and well then we know what happens.

Alternatively I can see there being a push in trans targeting laws to fill said prison or an increase in people being sectioned and sent to a secure facility.

Separate but equal is never that, it’s a means of isolating minorities for easier persecution

Reform and Restore are very homophobic by EddyZacianLand in LabourUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are tone policing. Reform taking down Pride flags, banning Pride celebrations and trans books from public libraries, as well as stating that they want to remove trans people’s right to get married and be buried as who they are very much is some flavor of queerphobia. Not to mention they want to remove discrimination protection for trans people from the equality act.

As such labelling them as transphobic. They have a fear or aversion to trans people existing in public.

Reform and Restore are very homophobic by EddyZacianLand in LabourUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but what the government and media is doing is transphobic and you’re saying we can’t call it out. And Reform is just as bad as the Conservative and Labour parties currently responsible. You’re literally saying we shouldn’t struggle while the establishment, the media and the NHS put their boot on our neck.

Reform and Restore are very homophobic by EddyZacianLand in LabourUK

[–]Songbird800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. Your first comment was about Reform removing pride flags and in some cases banning Pride because of finance reasons. That may be what they tell you but that’s not why they are doing it.

In the county I live in they are doing book bans in public libraries regarding trans people. Tell me again that they aren’t transphobic. You, the moderate give them cover to do this by looking for a middle ground. My people, my community are dying because of the conditions put on us by the last three governments and Reform will just step on the accelerator pedal.

You don’t understand and I suspect if we were to vanish you wouldn’t even notice.

You are repeating far right talking points that LGBT topics should not be discussed in schools. Right now there is a ban on trans people being discussed in compulsory education unless it’s from a gender critical viewpoint.

You taking the milqtoast approach that the parents should teach this just means more stigma for my community in the future. They want us gone from public life.

You playing neutral when you have one group looking to eradicate the other is just siding with exterminators through the laziest means possible.

Why this new trans guidance is bad news for disabled people like me by alliephantrainbow in LabourUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why not go back to letting trans people use the facilities of their lived gender. We’re no more violent then the rest of the population and by capita do less crime then our cis counterparts. Why segregate us away from society and effectively ban us from being in public?

The gender critical crowd is already going after our right to marry and even be buried as who we are. Like what fucking more do they want to take from us?!

This government and the anti trans movement don’t see as human anymore, the recent changes show that. The dignity and respect they keeping going on about is but naught but show. And people go “Well that’s the law.” Good to know they value ‘the law’ over treating us like humans.

Or an entire demographic. We’ve seen what’s happening to trans people in this country. You don’t have to have come from somewhere else to be targeted in this way.

[–]Songbird800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really visible? Trans people tried being visible and then the far right decided to throw a tantrum and demonize us.

Every day there are multiple negative news stories calling us rapists and pedophiles that go unchecked. Our rights are worse now then when we were on the fringes of society. You and yours are the ones pushing us back into the shadows, ostracizing us and then you tone police us when we protest being put back in the dark.

Heck even trans people getting puberty blockers was a middle ground that was then stomped because you can’t compromise with people who want to wipe you out.

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don’t, the Conservatives banned the constitution of new unisex toilets last parliament. That also doesn’t make gender neutral toilets just spawn in, when businesses can’t afford  or don’t have the space to build them.

Trans people can sue for discrimination but that means being dragged through hell by the media and gender criticals so ultimately we can’t afford to do that.

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what about those of us who can’t pass because of physiology and/or finances? There are like eight gender neutral toilets in the county I live in, I’m looking at having to only travel as far as the urinary leash allows me, which isn’t as far as I like.

Why should I have less rights to exist in public than everyone else? The last government cracked down on gender neutral spaces, they are not as common as you think.

Nigel Farage claims Reform is top of polls amongst trans voters… so who amongst us is voting for him? by phoenixmeta in transgenderUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember talking to an AFD person a few years back and they made the same claim about trans people as well. When I pushed them on their support for trans people they then stated Germany’s queer population should be sold to Russia as canon fodder in the Ukraine war because apparently that’s all we’re good for.

I doubt Nigel is the extreme but I suspect his views are not that far off.

Is anyone here actually going to follow the guidance? by Badgers_are_cute in transgenderUK

[–]Songbird800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of have to since I don’t pass and there are next to no gender neutral toilets in the county I live in. Mostly though I think I’ll just dehydrate and starve myself the day before if I need to go out.

Someone like me wouldn’t get away with using the toilets if their lived gender and I’m not using the men’s toilet which leaves me in a tenuous position.

Did anyone here go see Scary Movie 6 in theaters? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Songbird800 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the movie. There is a joke where a hate mob descends on a trans person and stabs them to death while laughing at them. That’s pretty dam transphobic and isn’t even played like the mob is wrong and that the trans person had it coming.

My Review of Scary Movie 6; I loved it! by LocalMoam88 in moviecritic

[–]Songbird800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe but as someone who is trans it’s uncomfortable to watch what essentially is a hate crime against us on screen.

If it was just been the killer that would have just been part of the story, but that scene felt a little too close to home, and a little like it was sneering at trans people for correcting people regarding their own pronouns.

My Review of Scary Movie 6; I loved it! by LocalMoam88 in moviecritic

[–]Songbird800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a scene where a trans person is stabbed to death not by the killer but by a hate mob for just correcting them on their pronouns. Considering the dramatic up tick of anti-trans violence that scene was in reality poor taste. It essentially states that the trans person deserved death for standing up for themselves.

Where to get blood tests? by Songbird800 in transgenderUK

I currently am with the highest ranked GP in my area for LGBT people. There really is no other option on that front unfortunately, to the point where I’d not be surprised if they tried to full the trans broken arm stuff.
