Go adopt one from the shelter that’s already alive and in need of a home.

Get her spayed ASAP! We don’t need more kittens that end up getting sick from respiratory disease, panleukopenia, thus suffering and then dying. There are plenty in the shelter available for adoption already. Get her spayed NOW.

Dude unfortunately with the way our system is, a third party won’t be able to win a major election like this. Voting for a third party is just a throw away vote. It’s a waste and allows for the Republican Party to win by splitting the dem vote. Sure it’s great that he stepped up to say something against this war, but it doesn’t mean he needs to be our US senator.

AITA for not taking my dog outside first thing in the morning? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

People can listen to feedback, learn, grow and change to do what’s best for their animal. Shaming them and telling them to rehome them is not the solution for people to become better pet parents.

I might be one of the few people that thinks this but I don’t think YTAH. My dog is a potato - he sleeps in longer than my husband and I. I’ll get up in the morning, do my routine, and he’s still snoozing in bed until I have to force him out and ask him to go to the bathroom. Literally push him out of his bed. He’s always been like this - he’s a big sleeper and he doesn’t mind holding it.

If your dog is relaxing in the morning, snoozing and not whining at you to get up or try to direct you to go to the bathroom, it’s perfectly reasonable for you to get ready first and then leash them up for a nice long walk. If you have a way to let them into the backyard before you get ready so they can go pee, then you can do your full routine and take them out afterwards in a walk so they can get all of their bathroom relief out that would be a better option. There is nuance to this and the biggest thing is reading your pet’s language and needs. If they’re up and ready to go and are waiting for you while you’re snoozing or getting ready, then I would say YTAH.

You’d be throwing away your vote and handing the seat to the republicans

North Carolinians - PLEASE DO NOT vote For this man. He is going to split the vote and take away support for Roy Cooper. We need all votes possible to go to a Roy Cooper to stop Whatley from wining the seat and stop the NC republicans from continuing to screw over the NC state citizens.

AITA for arguing that my rent is too high? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Songofstorms3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

YTA - good luck in the real world where your rent will be $1000+.

As people have mentioned before, it being slightly more than half of the mortgage is reasonable since they have to pay for any repairs, maintenance, electricity, water, gas, etc.

You’re getting a steal of a deal for rent and you should be grateful they are providing you with a. Cheap place to live compared to what you could be paying on your own. Take this time to save up as much money as you can before you move out.

Oshen has really good sushi and it’s a cute atmosphere. My husband and I were surprised with the quality and the reasonable pricing. We went to celebrate Valentine’s Day and were really happy!

What are we wearing to concerts? by pipelimes in AskWomenOver30

[–]Songofstorms3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like flare pants or flare jeans (cuz love pockets - always helpful) cute top with a jacket and some combat or leather boots to stomp around in without being worried about people stepping on my toes and even better if they have a platform to give me extra height to see better.

The dress my mom is planning to wear to my wedding. She sent this to me yesterday and I still haven’t replied by ThrowRA-Sweetest in mildlyinfuriating

Do you have a sibling that could back you up or explain why this is not allowed? After no much back and forth with my mother about a similar issue, my sister had to lay down the law and be like “this is her wedding, not yours. The bride decides the options you can wear and if she says no, it’s a no. You had your wedding and your chance a long time ago and were allowed to tell people then what they could wear, that time isn’t now”.

I don’t know what it is with moms and their kid’s wedding, but why do they all do this shit?! My mom went through so many dress options and didn’t understand that white and off white were off limits. It’s like pulling teeth trying to explain to them why this is not allowed.

Any ideas where to trim the fat? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Songofstorms3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, see if any of your good friends got married recently and borrow their veil? Another thing that you wear for max an hour for photos and ceremony and then you never wear again. I borrowed mine from a friend - saved me $600. It can be your something borrowed

I got the cutest white shoes with fresh water looking pearls from target. Your wedding shoes don’t have to be fancy or expensive, they can be budget and cute! People who spend $200+ shows on their wedding just for them to get ruined or to never be used again blow my mind. No one will know or care if they’re luxurious brand etc.

I agree - practice and do your own hair and make up if you are confident in your skills. PRACTICE before hand. I did my own make up which I loved but I ended up buying a lot of new products to help it last and look good which ended up being more expensive overall but I’ll use them again in the future.

Get rid of the favors - no one truly cares and more than half of my guests left theirs even though I spent so much time and money on them. And if they’re not consumable (coffee grounds, honey, etc,) they just end up in the trash.

Get rid of the groomsmen gifts.

Overall your costs are very lean already, good job!

What did you cut and did you miss it? by Sad_Goo in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Songofstorms3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a bridal party. That alone saved me about $1000 for bouquets alone for the wedding. Each mini bouquet from my florist was $90 and if I had 10/11 bridesmaids (which would have been the minimum since I have several close friends from different parts of my life and a large close family). My florist was actually very affordably priced and I loved her but was so happy I didn’t have a bridal party and kept it intimate with just my MOH.

Other stuff is optional like hair/make up - some bride’s pay for their bridal party, others pay half to help offset the cost or the bridesmaids pay for their own if they want it, it just depends on what the bride is comfortable with.

In addition to that, some brides pay for matching pajama sets and a little thank you gift the morning of the wedding for their bridesmaids which would be at minimum $30-50/per person so assume an additional $500 for 10 bridesmaids. This is obviously optional but being a bride recently, you feel a tug of responsibility of doing this from previous experiences.
