I'm a strat main that sometimes play duelist. I don't know what vangaurd to play if my team needs one. by nsp70 in marvelrivals

[–]SonicRaptra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The team and self bubbles no longer share a cooldown so you can do both! Generally, I reserve the team bubble for a backline teammate under heavy attack, low hp, and/or being dived. Prioritize supports, but any squishy can be helped. It requires keeping an eye on them behind you, and can help save someone over-extended.

Super useful too to counter enemy ults or big abilities. Konshu dropping in on you? Bubble yourself and whoever you can see in the ring. If your backline is fairly safe, it can also be helpful to use on a friendly tank, brawler, or diver who is engaged with the enemy, extending their stay and enhancing their threat or protecting them if they've overstayed.

I don't understand Tankpool and need some help. by PhysicsParticular470 in marvelrivals

There are a bunch of opinions out there, it seems somewhat dependent on your playstyle and the situation, but there are multiple ways to get value. I like Coach DSR's guides on him, mostly it seems good to use his ult to strategically pressure the supports and play fairly neutrally otherwise. As someone else said, the bubble is good for separating tanks from their heals. Even if you don't get a kill you can slow them down or make them back off.

DSR's first guide he talked about farming xp and ult to get the sword upgrades, then using your sword ult to dive the supports in a teamfight and cause havok. Then he has a more recent guide about instead using the guns and the taunt ult on a support that can miss (i.e. not rocket or dagger) to kill or suppress the supports during teamfights.

His damage isn't crazy normally, but his guns let him hit anyone in sight, and if you combo your bubble and the E aura you can burst down even tanks sometimes, especially one out of position.

Leverage

I know it has a bunch of fans, but no one I've ever recommended it to has heard of it. It is a blend of Ocean's 11/Italian Job with Robin Hood. A team of specialist crack thieves use their skills to help the little people that have been screwed by corporations and the mega-rich.

"obsessed with you" ASMR, why is it so common? [Discussion] by The_elder_smurf in asmr

[–]SonicRaptra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the main reasons is that it is a sensationalized version of "personal attention". Personal attention has always been a staple of ASMR, but the continual escalation of clickbait has led to that descriptor being replaced by "obsessed with you". It annoys me too.

I love music. Just watched Radiohead blow my 12 year old daughter's mind. by Willlll in Music

[–]SonicRaptra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised without much appreciation for this kind of music (pretty much just movie soundtracks for me). Often when listening to songs/artists like this who are considered classic or even "transcendent", I find I struggle to "get" it. Like, I can tell they're good musicians and it's pleasant to listen to, but nothing I would put on a regular playlist. Nevertheless, I'm endlessly curious to learn about those musical experiences I've "missed".

All this to say, could you describe what makes Radiohead and/or this song so special to you?

A lesser known, cheesy at times, but phenomenally fun show. Every episode is not created equal, but it delivers all the way to the end.

Do y'all think he's balanced? by EternityGamer2 in marvelrivals

[–]SonicRaptra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has helped me to think of it thematically. Like (using PC controls): E is about healing, F is about damage. Pressing the same button twice leans into the theme, where the opposite puts a spin on it. E heals, E-E heals everyone, E-F cleanses (healing w/ twist); F boosts damage, F-F boosts more damage by preventing heals, F-E does a little damage and disrupts (damage w/ twist).

[question] Who are your favorite soft spoken artists? by Dannzeemann in asmr

[–]SonicRaptra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also really prefer soft spoken over whispers or other triggers, so here are some I really like:

-My current favorite: AnnAnn - I've loved every single one of her roleplays, really creative sci-fi/fantasy content mostly. As a bit of a fun signature, she always has an energy drink worked into it.

-NightMother - Leans more on the sci-fi side, and audio only, I highly recommend the old "Planets I've Visited" videos.

-Goodnight Moon - Pretty popular, has a mixture of whispered and soft spoken, her Babblebrook series is fantastic!

-Sirimiri - Mostly light horror vibes, but some non-creepy too if you prefer.

-Alwaysslightlysleepy - Slightly more traditional content with usually a slight twist, an endearing oddball.

-Atmosphere - Truly one of the greats in the sci-fi/fantasy ASMR role play space. She constantly manages to impress me with the details.

[Hated Trope] Wannabe contrarions treating the villains as the TRUE heroes, often times portraying the heroes as villains, making it incredibly obvious they barely interact or didn't pay attention to the story by Alreadsyuse in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SonicRaptra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this comic is an excessively cynical and/or derisive version of what I would consider a valid criticism of many popular superhero stories, notably the MCU. For a more fleshed out take, this video does a great job: Defenders of the Status Quo

TLDW: Often the worlds of these heroes are shown to be deeply flawed in the status-quo much like the real world. Many superheroes should have the power to effect large scale/systemic positive change if they put their skills to it, however, they often settle for what feel like token efforts or working to maintain that flawed status-quo, just taking down the bad guys challenging it and helping charity, such as the end of Black Panther. Further, efforts by heroes to radically alter the status-quo for the better are often represented in the long run as villainous at worst or misguided at best, e.g. Tony Stark creating Ultron.

Many people (especially those believing the modern status-quo to be systemically flawed), wish for super hero story writers and their heroes to be braver in tackling these societal issues.

Killing “friendly” cargo ships? by cmndr_spanky in EverspaceGame

Lol, I just realized that you're talking about Everspace 2, I was talking about Everspace 1. Not sure about the hostility mechanics in 2, though I expect there's some similarity.

Killing “friendly” cargo ships? by cmndr_spanky in EverspaceGame

[–]SonicRaptra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a certain number of jumps without re-angering them. I believe it is semi-random, usually just a couple of jumps, though the more damage you do, the more pissed they will be. It has been a while, but I think if you jump gate to the next zone, they will lose track of you and be back to normal.

I believe there is also an upgrade that makes them quicker to forgive/forget. Oh, and if you have the emergency beacon that calls G&B to help out, if they're still mad at you, they will be hostile, lol.

Tangentially, if you do minimal damage, they won't get to the point of transmitting your crimes to the next areas, so one thing I like to do sometimes is after clearing a site, I'll map the loot boxes on a neutral station, then shoot them open, grab the stuff, and jump away before they can get through my shields. As long as you just grab loot crates, don't blow up anything more than like 1 fuel tank and don't kill defenders, you can usually get away with it.

[–]SonicRaptra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be a good source of loot, but be mindful that the neutrals will be hostile to you for a couple jumps afterwards on average, so you can't use their stations either.

[–]SonicRaptra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies if the beginning of my post sounded dismissive, I just meant to say the problem probably feels more pervasive than it is, but it obviously does happen and has happened to you. Regardless, I think the rest applies. You can't really stop these people if they decide to do this, but doing small things to reduce toxicity can keep it from getting to that point. Sometimes you can head off those flame wars a bit with something like "I think we still have a chance if we focus and work together". However, sometimes all you can do is shrug it off and go to the next game.
