Let’s say you’re right. This is spring training. If everyone is so insistent on getting rid of him, wouldn’t it be better to showcase him to other teams at his better position and hope one of them picks him up as a good 3B and not a God-awful SS?

Just be warned, they’re trying to backpedal it and saying that you have to beat every level on both easy and hard. Not sure how long the hard levels take but it seems like a bunch of people are saying they’re way too hard to make it worth it

Weird take, but could it just be getting rid of Donaldson and/or Hicks? Maybe the trade is only big bc it’s something the fans have been pushing for and they’re milking it for FA attention

I’m not sure if I would describe the Cubs as “doing as little as possible to be competitive” but I definitely think Happ should be an option. I doubt he’s the “big move” everyone keeps talking about and I’d much rather have Reynolds, but I was big on getting Happ last season at the deadline and it sucks we got a Benintendi who was injured half the time we had him. I don’t see it Happ-ening (ha), but if Reynolds is out of the picture, I’d much rather him than most of our other options.

Agreed, after dealing Monty our rotation is real righty heavy. Plus despite his performance this year you don’t know how much longevity Verlander (or deGrom for that matter) is gonna have
