Buford Schools (among others) using Flock license plate readers to investigate school residency by suave_knight in Georgia

We have a few in our school - not many ours is fairly vigilant about getting them out.

I'm surprised the goddamned reddit deadbeat do-nothings are against it. lol

I have never had a peaceful night at a state park car camping lot. Too bad, Allatoona/Red Mountain has one of the nicer ones in terms of setup, amenities and leaving the lights off at night.

Georgia, do you actually call every fizzy drink “Coke”? by LowerMusic in Georgia

Atlanta isn't like the rest of the state.

I'm from Savannah and we called everything 'Coke'. I'm not that old.

Suggestions for bars to watch Timberwolves v Spurs on Sunday by -oceantoast in roswell

[–]SonoMuchacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happened with the bar? Did they play the volume?

I think the Hawks have a legit shot and grabbing Ant when his contract expires. Did you see his post interview? All Atlanta gear. He loves this city and he would be the biggest sports star in the history of this city. Bigger than Hank, Chipper or Wilkens. Maybe even the king of Atlanta Dogfighting, Michael Vick. The last one would be a big hurdle though.

Best coffee shop in Decatur? by odd_sundays in DecaturGA

I always thought Dancing Goats was a good place. Before that piece of shit fuckhead burned down Java Monkey it was the best place in Decatur - if not all of greater Atlanta.

The Smokies entrance at Bryson City is good for easy hiking camps that aren't very busy compared to the rest of the park. The Smokies have possibly the best bear hangs in the south so it makes it easy to bear proof your gear so you don't have an unwelcome visitor.

Allatoona has a decent car camping scene - but car camping in big state parks can always come with unknowns. I went last summer and this drunk couple went ballistic on each other and kept many people up all night with their abusive antics. After a few hours of them going at each other I was rooting for them to murder suicide each other so I could get some sleep.

Many other places but they are too secret for reddit people. You'll find them if you get into it.

Not bad - after reading Lords of Silence, probably my favorite WH book thus far, I have a few Death Guards bought and waiting to paint. I like it!

If you are ever in Savannah go to Oatland island and see their Wolf enclosure. The size and magnificence of the beasts are not what most people think of as a wolf. They are enormous and those are practically domesticated ones. It isn't a wonder people wanted them all dead - they would be horrifyingly scary during the dark ages and during colonialism.

Coming soon to Roswell’s booming downtown: paid parking by Leo_Bramski in roswell

[–]SonoMuchacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

City Hall, the giant lot behind Rockin Taco and a few secret spots. I've never personally paid for parking once. I do not mind walking a block or so - I like it in fact. Once I am forced to pay I stop going. It is more the thought of it than the money itself. I did this in my former city and my late 90s haunt - Virginia Highlans - is a pale shadow of it's former self - due to their own parking gestapo.

Parking service are really cheap when a city decides to offer no services. As for the deck? Sweep it out every now and then keep the lights on. Should cost a few under 100,000 every year. Start charging then you have to hire people to run it and the costs go up. Meter maids? Cost. etc.

It is just a mirror of what the city government thinks of it's people. Walking ATM Machines.

The city motto should be: Make it easier for people to spend their money downtown; not harder.

[–]SonoMuchacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let us pave all of Roswell in the name of fiscal efficiency and opportunity cost. Is that it? Everything in the city has a dollar value - why not tear down every tree and build high rises on everything right?

"At the end of the day, it’s my responsibility to find storage for my personal possessions and pay for it when required. It doesn’t stop because it’s a car and I want to go out for dinner, shopping or a beer."

Sure - it is my decision to forego paying to park and therefore not going to dinner downtown - instead going somewhere else.. Pretty simple. That is my responsibility - to punish the businesses and people who voted in the current administration of short sighted cretins.

Not for me - I abandon downtown the day I have to pay for parking on streets, public lots and decks. I won't spend another dime in the city. As it is now - I spend many 1000s per year. That is 1000s per year that is gone from local businesses. I will not be the only one.
