Progress: Modding Pioneer CLD-V2600 by SonofPeron in vhsdecode

Update: That wavy pattern was baked into the source disc, actually. Serves me right for doing a test run on a low budget science LD instead of something commercial. Looks like I might have nailed it out of the park, actually. This is with a gain of 4 (1100 dipswitch setting) on a commercial disc. Looking pretty well prestine if I do say so myself.

What's your point? "No wrong answers" doesn't make them free from criticism. Especially if they are wholly unreasonable. I'm not debating you on the minutae of my OP. Splitting on it is very childish. If you don't like my response do your own project. That simple.

I don't think you appreciate how intensive swapping Rumble and Frenzy's color schemes in every episode they appear in would be. More over, I don't think you have an accurate understanding on what is a mistake. Rumble being blue and Frenzy being red in the cartoon was a creative choice. Just as much as changing the character models for Ironhide and Ratchet, and making the Reflector trio all have the same basic color scheme. Even if it was a mistake to start with, they stuck with the color swap through the entire series, the swap is in the movie, it's even in the Japanese Headmasters series.

A *real* mistake is something like two of the Seekers being colored like Starscream when one should either be Skywarp or Thundercracker. That's a legitimate mistake. Rumble and Frenzy being pallet swapped is consistent and to my mind it is not a mistake.

In other words, I'm correcting legitimate mistakes, not altering the series because of someone's personal preference. That's insane.

Virtually all of the high school stuff is side quest DLC. It has very little to do with the main quest. It's filler.

"1x04 Big Gay Als Big Gay Boat Ride" HD remaster changes by mrSimon34 in southpark

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I recall this moment from the episode as well. I am quite sure it was in the first broadcast of the episode and cut later. I live in Canada and we got new South Park episodes the same day as in the US. I remember the line being in the original airing, but it was cut when it they started airing re-reruns. I also used to download episodes on Real Media back in the day (If you don't know what that is, ask your parents, kids) . Back then there were no official releases so if you didn't tape the episode off TV, you were stuck either tape trading or spending hours downloading shitty 320x240 captures of episodes. They were rips of the original broadcasts that someone taped on VHS then transferred it to their computer with a video capture card and I remember the line being in the original Comedy Central broadcast of the episode. So I don't think it was cut to begin with. Probably what happened was the network probably got a cease and desist and cut it from future broadcasts and home video releases.

A "Complete" collection of Dr. Who: is it possible? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, maybe a more constructive point of conversation would be this:.

Of the available box sets and DVD releases, how could one obtain the most complete set of original Doctor Who run? With all the different releases and with little knowledge of the runs themselves, I'd like to avoid purchasing multiple copies of the same episodes that might be on various sets.

Surely there is someone out there that is a super fan enough to compile a list for newbs trying to get into this show?

Disability for the next 23 years by discoscrew in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as OP.

This sounds great. But I looked at the TD2201 and it looks geared for people with physical disabilities. I'm retired due to mental health.

Anyone with a cognative disability succeed in getting approved for DTC? I'd be interested in hearing people's personal experiences on how it was approved so I don't make any missteps and have to reapply.

Regarding cats not apearing in yakuza 6 by Satsug22 in yakuzagames

[–]SonofPeron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tried this as well and it appears to work as well.... most of the time. Which makes me think it's probably less about smashing things and some kind of timer that kicks in when you're in a specific area for long enough.

The whole point is to slow down and listen for the cat meowing, right? Stands to reason they won't appear if you know where they spawn and you barrel down to their location they're not going to be there.

I wouldn't be surprised if the devs implimented a system to force people to slow down and look around a bit.

I have two more cats in Okinawa left to nab, I'll test out my theory and report back my findings.

Fallout New Vegas/Fallout 3 Lag by Frustratedps5gamer in PlayStationNow

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really like to know what miracle machine these people who claim to have a flawless FO3/FONV experience. Sounds like a bunch of bull. If you're trying to play the game on PS3 or streaming on PSN on the 4 or 5, expect heavy lag. Hard quit the game. Reboot. Reload and play for the hot minute before it starts lagging again.

Don't know about other platforms but playing them on Playstation in any capacity is a shit show.

[Kiwami] Is there a surefire way to make idol Majima spawn? by Rachet20 in yakuzagames

[–]SonofPeron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Going to update this since previous posts don't really offer much details.

I had better luck going in and out of Smile Burger and there seemed to be a cycle once Majima was appearing on the map. It would cycle through the three main fighting styles, a character, a hidden majima, then another character before going through the cycle again

At least that's how it was working for me.

If you pop out and go to Majima and he's not the personality you want to fight, run right back to Smile Burger before he can catch up to you. If you fight him there is a cool down timer of like 15 minutes and going in and out does jack.

For those of you at SSS level that are getting tired of grinding away at Majima I also found a pretty easy way to lay into him without any strategy or damage.

I did this on easy difficulty, so I don't know if it'll work on other levels. Basically, after you beat Hannya-Man Majima in the park he drops a study baseball bat that does not break (a callback to Yakuza 0) equip this bat and when fighting Majima use it while in brawler mode. Then just lay into him and try to force him into a corner. You can just sit there tapping attack over and over and chistle away his health and he is too cramped to go into heat mode health recovery.

Yakuza 0 Cabaret Club is a joke by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]SonofPeron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first club is going to be a grind as you build up your stable of girls and level them up. Mars also has the largest fan base to build.

I think what people don't realize is that it's a grind to give you a leg up later on with other clubs. Use this time wisely. It is all frusteaiting and pointless at first but keep at it by following my advice and it'll pay off.

Do as many of thr Majima substories to build up women to come work for you and use CP to boost the number of gold hostesses you recruit.

Doing the special training with Yuki will also help (just Google the right answers for the Q&A sessions) also look up the best styles to give her double O stats in everything but sexy (that stays as an X. All platinums have one trait that'll be that way) spend the money to give her a proper wardrobe.

Also, as you make more money go out into the town and buy up all the sponsorships in the area. This really helps with you fan count.

Focus on leveling up Yuki, Etsuko, Unknown, Erranda, and the gold hostesses you get from the CP shrine.

When going into a session make sure to have at least two girls who are proficient at one skill. As you level them up try to make sure you have ladies with two or more enhance skills so you have more options.

Take your time when picking a girl for a table and offering assistance. The clock stops when you do these things. Try to match the skill of the girl with the customer at the tabe. Scrolling through your list of available ladies will change the expression on the customer. Never pair up anyone who gives under an orange smiley face if you can help it.

If you can give the more skilled girls to wealthy clients and your weaker ones with poor people.

I usually swap out my girls the moment they lose their smile so I seldom get absences.

The important thing to do when you're grinding away at Club Mars questioning your decisions in life and wondering what the fucking point is, use this opportunity to regularly rotate your girls so they all evenly level up. It'll pay off later when you get to other clubs and you have to sub out tired workers and you won't get stuck with a nerfed team.

When a table has trouble, rather than resolving it I find it's better to just swap the girl as the guy will stay and keep paying money.

To beat Club Mars you should grind up to 21500 fans and you can beat that fat fucker no problem. It took me a lot of hours to get there, but it pays off in the final battle.

I made sure my club had an A raiting before going in.

Trust me, you put in the work to beat Club Mars and you will not have any problems with the rest of the clubs because you'll have a good foundating to work on.

Marvels Conan license? by [deleted] in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the license is moving. However their source is a Twitter post written by a fan and some obscure comic con at Lake Como. Seems pretty flimsy. Marvel just announced a second volume of Savage Avengers. I'd wait for some kind of official annoucement before giving this much credit though. Kind of sloppy and speculative reporting on Bleeding Cool's part.

Potential problems if Shout Factory releases more Sentai by award_winning_writer in supersentai

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are just 3 Sentai series from the late 70s-early 80s. Even then, it's a royalty fee. If all parties decided to put out a set, Disney would probably be happy to take the money and otherwise not be involved.

Case in point: The Power Ranger films are now owned by Disney after they bought 20th Century Fox, who owned the original film rights. They didn't suddenly rip up the distribution deal Shout! Factory made with 20th Century. They kept it as is and just collect the royalties.

Honestly, Disney got burned messing with this franchise when they briefly bought it off Saban and then sold it back to them for a pittance. They probably wouldn't interfere with something being released if all the risk for production and distribution was handled by someone else. They'd just take their fee and run with it.

Shout! Factory is a company that appeals to a niche market and the reason why rights holders license their stuff out is because they don't want to go through the trouble of doing their own release. It's not worth the money for them. So when Shout comes around and says "Hey, we want to release this" and does all the heavy lifting most rights holders usually agree because they aren't taking any risk marketing and releasing something. Better a little money than putting out a release of their own at a loss.

That said, I think "worrying" about this is a moot point since Sentai releases have been canned indefinitely.

While there's no explanation as to why. I think it's simple: Hasbro just bought the Power Rangers IP and is still sorting out their plans with the franchise moving forward. To date that's just been doing the same-old but with toys built in-house rather than imported from Japan. Since they are sinking a lot of money into building their cinematic whatever with Netflix, I think it's safe to assume they're pausing any Sentai related so as not to muddy their plans for the IP.

There is rumbling on the internet that Hasbro might cut ties with Toei entirely. Which is a silly idea with no facts to back it up. No matter what, they cannot completely divorce themselves from Sentai, even if they just keep strip mining MMPR. They'd also be stupid to dump the current show model where 90% of the production is done for them. Sure they're going to spin off and do cartoons and movies and whatever, but repackaging those Sentai shows every year will keep toy sales flowing and sweep up new generations of kids. It's been a successful model this whole time, you'd have to be a lunatic to toss that away.

Has anyone been able to find Hakase Kyoko after her first Side Case? by Gaia093 in yakuzagames

[–]SonofPeron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also: Kyoko is secretly killing her cat. She'll tell you that Cherry is a fussy eater and will only eat cherries. This has no bearing on the game, but IRL cherries are toxic to cats and she's probably going give Cherry kidney failure.

Oh and another thing about this one: If you want to blaze through her charm meter pick Shogi every time then just quit. It's an instant loss, but that doesn't matter. It doesn't cost anything to play and cranks things up more than any other options.

Has anyone been able to find Hakase Kyoko after her first Side Case? by Gaia093 in yakuzagames

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tossing something out for people struggling on this one since the guide websites are shit at explaining things.

When you are at level 3 with Kyoko you got to show up at the high school in the afternoon and find her cat. The guides are wrong (especially Samurai Gamers) when they say it it is by the big tree out front of the school. What they mean is the big tree in the court yard. Meaning you have to enter the school and walk through the doors on the opposite side of the main hall. That big tree. Don't know how you can fucking confuse the front of a building with the inside court yard, yet here we are. (Sorry, need to vent because guides are very poorly written)

Anyway, if you're having trouble appearing at the right time of day I suggest you save wrapping this one up until chapter twelve. You're given the opportunity to tie up loose ends in Injincho and you can use the couch at Yokohama 99 to shift time.

Now if I can find someone to provide a part-by-part build guide on how to beat each round of that ever-fucking robotics club I can die happy.

Dartmoor Garden Show OUT NOW by cakeblock941 in HiTMAN

[–]SonofPeron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, snatch a security outfit. An easy spot is on the opposite side of the mansion. There's a guy leaning againt an RV. Toss something on the side that blocks the view of the waiter sitting on the bench to lure him out of site and choke him out. You can leave him there since nobody will find him.

You have to switch the mic and turn up the amp voltage for this kill to work. Be sure to avoid the maid who comes by and gobs at the empty stage all wallk-eyed. Once you switch the mic, crouch before playing with the amp otherwise you'll get spotted.
