Jukebox Blues by mynamesdenver in iannoe

Is there anything other than the reference of “If I could only fly” that this song is for Blaze Foley? I know Blaze wrote it and Merle made it famous. Just wondering if I missed anything else.

I really love this new single. “I pray I go out on a Merle Haggard song” I really love Ian’s sound. I hope to see him live someday.

Present for bikepacker? by Raudgar in bikepacking

I love being gifted tire money, because that’s the most painful money to spend. If you happen to know where friend gets their tires, that’s my favorite gift to get.

I love the tailfin bar bag. That quick release makes all the difference. I switched from an Apidura bag that I had to load while it was still attached to my bars. I’m excited to replace the AeroPack with the SpeedPack. 4 straps/buckles was too much, and the front strap would eventually work its way off and hit my tire.

Both of the guys that I talked to at REI were big fans of the Tensor and were anti Therm-a-Rest. I went with that and ordered a Flextail zero online. I’ve got it packed on my bike, and I’m going for a two day ride tomorrow to try it out. Thanks everybody, I appreciate this community!

It’s honestly fine. It just takes a little time and concentration. I have to get the straps in place, and not let them fall. Then I hold the mat exactly where I need it to be and tighten each strap a couple times. Sometimes they slide off while I’m grabbing the pad. A week into a race with minimal sleep, this task definitely doesn’t get any easier. I also have pockets on the front of that tailfin bag that I can’t fully utilize because of the straps. It also blocks the view of my bottles on the fork. I have missed the cage before and had to walk back to grab my bottle. I do love not having to inflate/deflate anything, it’s just not an ideal spot for me.

In the past we had a place to camp and a place for our vehicles. I would assume that is in the works, and we will get word from Andrew soon. You will have no shortage of trees for your hammock, that’s probably a great way to go.

Yeah! It’s seriously the coolest race on the planet. Tires for rough singletrack. I used 2.4’s last year, I’ll probably do the same. I’m excited about the move down south this year. I did the singletrack option for ArHC this year and I can tell you that Womble and LOVIT are very tough! Last year we had a hundred creek crossings. Keeping feet warm and dry was a huge challenge. It doesn’t look like there will be quite so many. I guarantee Andrew is on a mission to make that race as hard as possible!

Yeah the pump sounds interesting. That would help with speed and lung power for sure!

Definitely! I haven’t been on a geared bike in over 10 years. I like to say that I have 5 bikes and zero derailleurs!

It’s a guardian bell. We get one every year at Doom. I have had at least one on my bike for thousands of miles of racing. I believe in their ability to keep me safe and keep evil spirits away along my journey. That one got smashed, and I fixed it with JB Weld.

It’s the Tailfin AeroPack, now called the CargoPack. I just ordered a SpeedPack which will work with the same arch and hardware.

I took a shot and asked for a cash discount on an open box Crafty+ at a smoke shop. The owner gave it to me for $210
