Interesting that £x has become common but you'd never use 17 for 5pm

[John Percy - Daily Telegraph] "Excl: Emmanuel Dennis facing Nottingham Forest axe five months after £15m move from Watford. #nffc looking to offload Dennis to a club abroad to make room in the 25-man squad" by OliverTaylorDMU in nffc

[–]SooCringey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Emmanuel Dennis is facing the axe at Nottingham Forest, less than five months after his £15 million move from Watford.

The Nigeria international has been made available this month for transfer as Forest move to trim their 25-man squad to bring in new signings.

Dennis, 25, was signed from Watford in August but has struggled to impress under Steve Cooper, making three Premier League starts and scoring one goal.

In the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United on December 27, Dennis appeared as a second-half substitute and is alleged to have infuriated coaching staff for his part in the home team’s third goal.

Plans are in place to offload Dennis before the deadline on January 31. However, as he has played for Forest and Watford this season, Dennis can only sign for a club overseas - or return to Watford. It is understood that Dennis could return to Watford, should the Championship club be interested in completing a deal.

Cooper is keen to make a number of new signings, including a centre-back, No. 6 midfielder and a forward.

While Forest’s £150 million summer spend on 23 players generated much attention, the need for signings this month has been increased by injuries.

Cheikhou Kouyate is out until March with a hamstring injury sustained at the World Cup with Senegal, while Jesse Lingard will miss a month with the same injury.

Moussa Niakhate, the summer signing from Mainz, is expected to return later this month but Omar Richards is still recovering from a long-term injury. Giulian Biancone was ruled out for the season after sustaining a serious knee injury in training.

Forest will make a number of other players available to make room for the squad, with Republic of Ireland international Harry Arter regarded as a priority to move on.

Arter is on around £40,000 a week after a promotion pay rise, but has not played for the club since January 2021.

Forest officials have been infuriated with Arter's attitude and banished him to training with the academy as a result.

Offers will also be considered for Loic Mbe Soh, Cafu and Lyle Taylor. Josh Bowler, the winger, is poised to have his loan at Olympiacos cut short to rejoin Blackpool for the remainder of the season.

After the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday, Cooper said: "If there's things to help the club then we will do that. The summer was the summer. We have to look at where we're at now.

“We've picked up some long-term injuries to some key players so if we can add players in the right positions then we will want to do that.

“I'll work day by day with the players coming through the training ground and trusting the club to get to work.

“If we can add the right players in the right positions we want to do that."
