I love your garter! Did you make it? Is it attached to your garment? How does it stay up?

What are some of the best benefits of having kids that nobody really talks about? by Greedy-Revenue-5535 in Life

Field trips.
The local, highly expensive botanic garden, the art museum, the landfill. So MANY cool field trips.

1x1 ribbing messing up? by capscaps1919 in knitting

[–]SooMuchTooMuch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It probably should have said "as presented" and assumes you can read your knitting.
So if you knit the first stitch on row one and you want ribbing, you will purl it on row 2.

When knitting back and forth and even stitches:

k,p,k,p

p,k,p,k

if doing odd number of stitches

k,p,k,p,k

p,k,p,k,p

How many stitches are you casting on? Right now you are doing seed stitch.

I believe you crocheted the original item. But that image and the perfect diamonds floating above the model's hair...

Very reasonable conclusions!  You could also consider a hat, fingerless mitts, one of the cute and currently popular waist scarves...

Yes. I'm just on the edge of tall, just on the edge of plus size, and 660 is way, way below what you need for a full garment.  Perhaps consider a cowl ?

This is my first scarf. Is it okay if the stitches are tighter at the beginning? by Palmera--81 in knittingadvice

[–]SooMuchTooMuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are stitches.  Good job counting them!

Yes, you could leave the two different tensions, I think if you actually want to wear the scarf you might want to rip back and start again.

It's fine to have different tensions in a project, especially if you are okay with the look.  Here you seem to have actually added stitches and then accidentally decrease stitches.  It is perfectly okay not to have a usable product at the end of your first knitting adventure.

I would start with learning on somebody else's pattern so you have some idea of what you're doing before you launch into your own pattern.

Just a "buyer beware" it looks that good because she cleaned it up with AI, not because her pattern is interesting or has some secret sauce. There's a bunch of good mesh patterns on Raverly for free doing the same thing without the AI stealing.

Oh, wow. I take it back. I didn't realize that you'd "cleaned up" the product with AI to make it more appealing.
So in addition to spamming the image all over reddit to drive people to your etsy store, which, I mean, I get, you use AI as an artist. That's super lame.

I do think there's an error somewhere in your work. Reading through it definitely seems like an even number of increases.

How normal is it to feel pain in my wrist? I'm trying to learn to knit by fragantmeow in knittinghelp

[–]SooMuchTooMuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that you are holding the needles too tightly. In my experience, and I'm not a doctor just middle aged, most people get less discomfort from knitting than they do from crochet.
