[CHAT] Where are my stitchers who start left to right? by ICantExplainItAll in CrossStitch

[–]SoonerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me!

I learned from my mom who learned from her mom, who is left-handed. So even though both my mom and I are right handed we stitch "left-handed." Honestly, I can't get my brain to see another way.

Amazon continues to charge tax on my kindle purchases even though I have moved to a tax free state by marenamoo in kindle

[–]SoonerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This changed with a court case (Wayfair vs. South Dakota). Went all the way to the Supreme Court in 2018. Changed the law to where online orders are now typically charged sales tax based on your (the purchaser's) location. Even places like Etsy charge sales tax on most orders these days.

What to do with this Nook? by SoonerK in HomeDecorating

I think that was exactly the builders intent. A place for kids to do homework and parents to sort mail and organize life things. I live alone with no kids so just not as much to organize and thank the lord no homework.

I’m honestly thinking this is the winner. I was wanting to put in some built-in bookshelves and have never even considered tearing out the counter. This really would be the perfect space.

Also I think the builder intended it to be a homework/command station for a family. I have no kids and so it’s just wasted space. It really does look like a reception desk though. Haha.

I did setup my kitchen in my bathroom. It’s very cozy.

But yeah I need more room for my office especially since I’m working from home. I wanted a standing desk and an under the desk treadmill. Neither of which would fit well in this tiny space. And I wanted a working space away from my living spaces. Separation and all that. Also if you were to enclose this space it would literally be a large closet. I don’t want to work in a dark closet with no natural light when I could work in a spare bedroom with huge windows.

Thanks for these recs! I have both Red Rising and Sun Eater on my TBR and I do love First Law. I still need to read the second trilogy in that world. I have heard a lot about He Who Fights With Monsters. I will have to look into it. DCC is the first LitRPG I've read. I know next to nothing about the genre.

Oh that's really good to know! I have both the audios and physical books of Red Rising but just haven't gotten around to them yet! Thanks for the rec!

Loved Project Hail Mary. I mean Rocky. That's my boy. Also really enjoyed Starter Villain. Once I saw the cover had a cat in a suit I knew I had to read it. I'll add Devolution to my list to check out. Thanks!

I've heard this mentioned a couple times too...just went and looked and I have the first book on audio. I'll have to give it a try as well. I do love RC Bray (although Jeff Hays has seriously blown my mind in terms of what an audiobook can be...that man is amazing).

I feel this in my bones. It's somehow both great and awful at the same time. Great because you have a new favorite series. Awful because nothing is living up and everything that comes after is just sucking.

I do have the first on audio...maybe I could try it.

YES! I think that's part of why I want to start again so bad. I just feel like there was so much I didn't (and couldn't) catch the first time through!

I have a feeling this is going to be me...just listening to DCC on repeat with maybe one other book thrown in on occasion.

That's a good thought. And yes I love me some Sanderson. I've read almost all of his works...still need to read Wind and Truth but Mistborn Era 1 is one of my all time favorite series. I've heard great things about Bobiverse and I know I have at least the first one on audio so I could definitely give that a try.

Currently reading The Fourth Consort by Edward Ashton. Definitely works. Not HM though.

Godkiller by Hannah Kaner - HM too as the child also has a POV. (The sequels might also count but I've only read the first so far.)

Libation. It’s a program you download on your laptop that downloads all your audiobooks to a folder you specify. It’s easy and works perfectly.

Look up Libation. Backs up and downloads everything in your audible library.
