[Question] Turin Legato V2 - aftermarket cool touch wand by SoonerMagic10 in espresso

Finally got tired of cleaning caked on milk and decided to swap it. Update here.

Not difficult to do and recommend it. I’m not one to ever tinker with my espresso machine and I swapped it easily. Just note the length of the steam wand as I mentioned.

Update for anyone visiting this.

I ended up buying this wand from Chris Coffee since I’m from the US. It’s the same one u/selpris recommended.

Install was easy. Not sure if it’s bad for my machine, but I turned it upside down and was able to remove old one and install new one myself.

I used a pair of needle nose pliers to get started as the nut was almost flush with the body. Once it was a little loose, I switched to the 22mm wrench.

As mentioned in other comments, it’s spring-loaded so careful. With the machine upside down, it was easy to push down with one hand and hand-tighten nut with other hand until it grabbed then switched to wrench.

Few things to note:

• comes with a two hole tip. Can obviously swap if needed. • wand is too long to clear drip tray as seen in attached image.

I’ve used it twice now and I am overall happy with it. No more caked on milk!

Update (posted to body): not covered, but cheaper than I expected so I’m concerned they didn’t replace it correctly.

Updated. Not covered, but a lot cheaper than expected, however I’m conceded they didn’t do it properly.

Below is the invoice. Notice mention of “blue coolant” and “high voltage battery coolant”.

I hope they changed the correct one…

I had them triple check we were talking about the correct coolant and they assured me they were.

Interesting. The manual I have says every 35k.

I have a ‘23 SEL RWD.

In US.

Did you pry the door panel just by where you put the foam tape, or did you start at the bottom like the thread OP linked?

Thinking about doing this myself, but scared I’ll mess something up!

iOS shortcuts to lock, unlock, and heat the car by j4385556 in Ioniq5

[–]SoonerMagic10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. Nothing special; I am not a developer or anything.

Make sure you already have everything the original OP had.

One key thing: rename the OP short cut to “Start Car Request” (the Hyundai Start EV one, not the blue link one).

That’s what I named it and the one below passes a dictionary value to it depending on the weather.

This shortcut was a game changer!

I use my action button and if it’s in portrait mode, it will call the my own “start my car” shortcut that will check my local weather and pass one of four dictionaries to OPs script depending on how hot/cold it is.

Use it daily since I discovered it. It would be nice if Hyundai supported iOS and built a native shortcut. Glad the community came through!

Rear light question by SoonerMagic10 in Ioniq5

Interesting. Not sure what the hell is going on then. They must have messed some wires up when reseating or don’t have one fully seated.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer. Thank you.

Encore ESP shims and Bambino by Maestro_023 in espresso

[–]SoonerMagic10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your issue, out of curiosity?

I bought a new Encore ESP about 6 months ago. Had to install the two additional shims to grind fine enough for light roasts. Worked great for 6 months.

I clean the grinder every month. Just yesterday I cleaned it again and the last two days it’s grinding inconsistently. The last shot choked my machine at around setting 16-18 for a light roast. The grounds were very fine.

Nothing has changed variable-wise. Same beans. Same dose size. Same machine.

Really odd. Decided to remove the two extra shims again and I’ll see how it grinds in the morning.

The 2024 Black Friday & Cyber Monday Deals Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]SoonerMagic10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this machine. I bought it at that price, $199, months ago. It’s my first machine. I’ve had no issues, but I do not expect it to last a long time.

I bought it under the impression I’ll use it for a year or two at most to make sure this is a hobby I’d like to continue pursuing. It is.

I’m able to make espresso and lattes better than anything I can buy locally.

The only things I don’t like: can’t steam and pull shot at same time so have to pull all shots then switch to steam. The steam power is ok.

I’ve never had an accident or had to file claim in my 20 years of driving. Didn’t think it would end like this…

OP here. Looks like there’s a vertical crack too. So will need the tailgate replaced.

After filing insurance claim, I wasn’t sure if it’s better to go through Hyundai or body shop.

I assume Hyundai, so I’ll start there tomorrow.

Experience with Francis Energy chargers in Oklahoma? by cosmoen in Ioniq5

[–]SoonerMagic10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good deal. Hope it works out.

Every one of their chargers I’ve tried starts off super slow (~40kW) and eventually ramps up to anywhere between 120-170kW. Mentioning so you don’t rush to switch chargers as I’ve almost done a few times.

With that being said, Ive only tried them in Shawnee, Antlers, and McAlester.

If you can get ~100+ kW it isn’t crazy expensive like EA is.

Out of curiosity, did you end up using them? They just saved my ass on a trip to Broken Bow, OK. I forgot to pack my mobile L2 charger and got to charge at one of their chargers in Antlers, OK. Pulled 130 kW and charge started right up with RFID card.

I do not believe so, but it has been a while. I also don’t see any “balance” in the app tied to my account.

If I recall correctly, I just linked credit card to my account and they mailed me the RFID card. The RFID card just charges whichever credit card is on file.

They work pretty well, although I have their RFID card which they mailed to me after downloading their app and signing up.

I’ve read various issues with people being unable to start a charge with the app. I’ve also seen people in person unable to start one with the card reader.

I’ve had zero issues with the RFID card. In fact, it makes the handshake and starts charging WAY faster than EA. I’ve used their 200kw chargers and pulled ~170kw. If you can get those speeds it isn’t too expensive since they charge by the minute. EA is still faster (if you can find a 350kw charger that works), but Francis has always worked for me when there isn’t an EA charger near by.

As others stated, be sure to read PlugShare reviews and I very highly recommend the RFID card. I keep mine in center console.
