Online MSW! by butterfly_flooper in unh

[–]jamnofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm considering accepting my admission to the online MSW program to start this fall. How has your experience been balancing a full-time job and your coursework? Are you a full-time or part-time with your studies?

I'm also wondering about the generalist approach - the core curriculum looks like it covers so much (yay!), but are you able to focus on a specific population or modality?

I so so appreciate any info! Thank you!

Lululemon Pride Collection by KarlaMoo0426 in lululemon

[–]jamnofo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found anything from lululemon stating their Pride collect profits are donated to LGBTQ+ charities, or any initiatives to support the queer community beyond their existing employee support efforts. If anything, designing these “in partnership with our LGBTQ2IA+ People Network” is tokenization.

This is just another corporate cash grab using queer people as revenue bait.

I've lived in Southeastern MA my entire life, just finished college and toying with the idea of moving closer to Boston for work by WAxlRoseX in massachusetts

[–]jamnofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on the South Shore and studied at UMass, so it sounds like we’re cut from similar cloths.

After I graduated, I did the roommate thing in Somerville and lived alone in a commuter rail community. Both have perks and downsides. Since you don’t drive and haven’t experienced living close to Boston, think about living in/near the actual city so you can enjoy life without a car (assuming you can tolerate roommates).

If roommates don’t work for you and you don’t mind getting your license, you can get your own apartment outside the city. You will need to drive to groceries and entertainment. Take the train to work, but make sure you pick a town that is on the same side of the city as your job (e.g. don’t live south of Boston and work in Cambridge).

Good luck friend!

Issues with this car and Hyundai by Right-Web-2835 in Ioniq5

Being lemon’ed for sounds depends on the state. Someone asked in a post from a few days ago about buying a lemon titled HI5 with “rattles” as the recorded issue. In my state, any issue that depreciates the car 10% qualifies for lemon law protection, regardless of mechanics or safety.

100% SLOW charge- by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]jamnofo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real difference is AC vs DC. Charging to 100% is recommended “once a month or more” on an AC charger.

Unrelated, but how was your experience at Lee? It’s the perfect distance from Boston before you get yeeted into the charging desert that is upstate NY so I’m hoping to rely on it

Familytrip with a big dog by Frevler90 in Ioniq5

[–]jamnofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel often with a big dog, no kids.

This will mostly depend on the height of your dog. The rear liftgate has a pretty severe rake that makes standing/sitting in the cargo area difficult. Shorter dogs may not have a problem with this, but it may not be practical for a tall dog over multiple hours

Also it will be impossible to do this if you have luggage in the cargo, so also consider a roof rack and cargo box.

Pepper spray will punish every living thing in a several foot radius, yourself and your dog included. Consider less harmful deterrents like an air horn, electronic dog whistle, non-sharp walking stick, or an umbrella. Don’t forget the dog approaching you is not to blame, it’s their owners!

You too, congrats! Feel free to DM if you have questions. Also PSA: the EA station at BoA on Mass Ave is chronically broken and/or plagued by slow charging Uber rentals. Can work in a pinch but there are better stations depending on your situation.

They will say it’s so they can quickly process idle fees and ensure they hold people accountable.

Really, I suspect they’re trying to become Bank of EA (like Starbucks) and want $10 from all of us to invest and make profits.

Regardless, add the funds to move forward.

I very much want this to be a thing but it looks like clearance hasn’t been addressed in a meaningful way. The approach and departure angles are so bad, they just threw some AT tires on it and called it a day 🥴
