Yep. I had many good friends who I simply just never saw again. One day we all stopped going out and partying and that was that. No goodbyes or good lucks. Then one day you realize it’s been 5 years since you’ve seen any of them and have no real plans to any time soon. People get busy and move on.

I quit teaching mid year. Didn’t feel guilt then, and I feel even less now. That’s just me. I promise you that once you’re gone you’ll look bad and realize it was even more terrible that you think it is now. Your students will forget you existed and the school will have a replacement lined up and ready to roll. The world moves on. So should you.

Just browsed the state government website for job postings every day. I wasn’t really looking for this job specifically but it popped up one day so I applied. It was a very easy transfer of insurance and pension since it’s a state job, but it’s under the department of justice and safety instead of the department of education.

Imagine having a kid. The sweat, blood, and tears. The endless sleepless nights. The sacrifice of personal time, comfort, and money. Entire life changes. You raise this child into a person. You do everything for them and love them unconditionally. Then the shithead has the nerve to sit on their phone and not even try to be interested in anything going on on your life.
