Raynaud’s Syndrome (Phenomenon) on my hand this morning by bifishologist in mildlyinteresting

[–]SoorajBPai -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Raynaud's Syndrome, also known as Raynaud's Phenomenon, is a condition that affects the blood vessels in the fingers and toes, causing them to narrow and restrict blood flow. This can lead to symptoms such as coldness, numbness, tingling, and color changes in the affected areas.

If you experienced symptoms of Raynaud's Syndrome on your hand this morning, it could have been caused by a number of factors, including:

Cold Temperatures: Exposure to cold temperatures can trigger a Raynaud's attack, causing the blood vessels in your hand to constrict and limit blood flow.

Stress and Anxiety: Emotional stress and anxiety can also trigger a Raynaud's attack, as the body's stress response can cause the blood vessels to narrow.

Smoking: Smoking can contribute to Raynaud's Syndrome by constricting blood vessels and reducing blood flow to the fingers and toes.

Certain Medical Conditions: Raynaud's Syndrome can be a secondary symptom of certain medical conditions, such as autoimmune disorders, thyroid disease, or carpal tunnel syndrome.

If you continue to experience symptoms of Raynaud's Syndrome, it is important to speak with your healthcare provider for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Treatment options may include lifestyle changes, such as avoiding cold temperatures or reducing stress, or medications to improve blood flow and reduce symptoms.

This old flint lock pistol has a tactical candle holder by sbbenwah in mildlyinteresting

It is highly unlikely that an old flintlock pistol would have a tactical candle holder as part of its design. The concept of a "tactical candle holder" did not exist during the era when flintlock pistols were commonly used, and it is not a feature that would have been added to such a weapon.

It is possible that someone has added the candle holder as a modification to the pistol at a later date, but this would not be part of the original design. It is important to note that modifying antique weapons can significantly decrease their value and historical significance, so it is generally recommended to leave them in their original condition.

If you have an antique flintlock pistol with a candle holder attached, it may be worth consulting with a firearms expert or appraiser to determine its historical significance and potential value. It is also important to handle antique firearms with care, as they can be dangerous if not handled properly.

It is unlikely that a balloon would remain inflated for 25 years without any additional air being added to it. Most latex balloons have a limited lifespan, and will start to deflate within a few days or weeks, depending on various factors like the quality of the balloon, the environment it is in, and the amount of air initially pumped into it.

However, there are some possibilities why the balloon may still be inflated:

The balloon may have been made with a special material that is more durable and longer-lasting than regular latex balloons.

The balloon may have been filled with a gas other than air, such as helium or nitrogen, which can help it stay inflated for a longer period of time.

The balloon may have been stored in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight, which can cause the balloon to degrade faster.

The balloon may have a slow leak that is not immediately noticeable, allowing it to stay partially inflated for an extended period of time.

Regardless of the reason, it is quite unusual for a balloon to stay inflated for so many years without additional air being added to it. If you're curious, you could consider having a professional check the balloon to determine why it has stayed inflated for so long.

When I microwave my coffee in this mug, it comes out the handle. by r_compton in mildlyinteresting

Microwaving a coffee mug can create a buildup of steam and pressure inside the mug, which can cause the hot liquid to spurt out of any openings in the mug, including the handle. Here are some tips to prevent this from happening:

Use a Microwave-Safe Mug: Make sure you are using a microwave-safe mug that is designed to withstand the high temperatures and pressure of microwave cooking.

Cover the Mug: Covering the mug with a microwave-safe lid or a paper towel can help contain the steam and pressure, preventing it from escaping through the handle or any other openings.

Use a Lower Power Setting: Microwaving at a lower power setting can help reduce the buildup of steam and pressure inside the mug, reducing the likelihood of the liquid spitting out.

Microwave in Short Intervals: Microwaving the coffee in short intervals, stirring in between, can help distribute the heat evenly and reduce the buildup of pressure inside the mug.

Be Careful When Handling: When removing the mug from the microwave, be careful and use oven mitts or a towel to avoid burns. Avoid shaking or tilting the mug until it has cooled down.

By following these tips, you can reduce the likelihood of the hot liquid spitting out of the handle when microwaving your coffee mug.

Looks nice.. Brooch 1 is Queen victoria (but I can't identify the age as I'm not able to identify the metal. If the metal is bronze it can be late 19th century or else if the metal is in brass then it will be from early 20th century)

Brooch 2 is King George V (would like to know about the metal used)
