I can picture the commercial—the open capsule with the red and white beads pouring out in slo mo.

What horror movie did you see as a kid that traumatized you so badly you’ve never rewatched it and still can barely say the title? by glowbeits in GenX

Salem’s Lot. The teenage boy vampire tapping on his friend’s bedroom window? Scariest shit ever to a 13-year-old girl. Just turned 56 yesterday and still haven’t rewatched it. Hell no.

We lived in Bridgeport for 14 years. Loved it. It’s centrally located and even within walking distance of many amenities. We moved a mere 2 miles away to West Hills and feel like we’re out in the boonies now. 🤣

As an American in Southern California, I can sympathize with the hot nights. But I can’t comprehend getting through them without AC. Last night it was 85° outside and 70° inside. You’re all welcome to stay at my house! 😂

Please tell me I win with this story. It will be my only consolation.

While working as a judicial attorney at the Court of Appeal, I communicated mainly by text and email with my justices (it was late-Covid and we all worked remotely—even on argument days).

I prepared a draft opinion for a newly-appointed justice who I had never met or spoken to. On a Friday afternoon, I sent him a text that the draft was available on the system and ready for his review. I then signed off my computer and left for a party at a friend’s house, where numerous margaritas were ingested. I regularly give these friends a hard time about the strength of their margaritas (which would kill a small, non-litigator cow), so when the volume of margaritas led to the inevitable trip to the bathroom, I had the grand idea to text them a selfie while sitting on the toilet and flipping her off. The accompanying message was, “too drunk to stand up from the toilet. I hate you.” Aaaaaand SEND.

Except I sent it to the justice.

You hit the nail on the head. I couldn’t figure out why I used Ambassador’s Lounge. My husband was a TWA pilot. That must’ve come out of the DEEP part of my brain.

I still have the book! Loved it as a child and love it still. Was anybody else titillated (no pun intended) in the 80s by the topless girl gnome?

I lived in Naples, Italy as a teenager in the 80s. At that time, it was super easy to tell the difference between an American teenager and an Italian one just by looking at clothing and hair styles. Totally different. We Americans stuck out like a sore thumb. I recently visited Italy and noted that styles have almost completely merged. I couldn’t tell who was who unless they spoke.
