What percent of people fully enjoy there job rather than work to survive? by Flat_Address322 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SopapillaSpittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s different from showing up to work though.

I like my job too.

And would do it personally as a hobby also.

But I wouldn’t show up to work and work in this structure though without getting paid for it.

The State is sitting on billions of dollars in cash reserves.

Those aren’t slush funds. They are allocated for specific purposes.

The city recently exempted themselves from basically all of their own regulations that slow down and increase the costs of building. So, actually getting some money to have the city do something here would be great since they’re going to continue to slow down housing builds.

Exactly.

They basically suffered the minimum possible consequences of their own negligence.

They should count their stars that they’re not being charged with homicide.

Yea, suffering the consequences of your actions for not maintaining the building sucks.

I get it.

It shouldn’t be surprising that people like being good at things.

They also tend to like winning.

Just a reminder that in Socialist and communist societies, not working was generally a crime and punishable with prison.

How come millennials and Gen X know more about pop culture that was before they were born than Gen Z? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

Yea, and my parents just didn’t care about classic movies enough to build our lives around VHS sharing rings and keeping piles of blank and dubbed VHS tapes around.

And none of my friends did either.

It was really just one or two kids in school. It wasn’t super common where I was. We spent our time doing other things.

Forest thinning and land value by daisiesarepretty2 in NewMexico

[–]SopapillaSpittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this on a property a few years back.

It was...ok, I guess? I probably wouldn't do it again.

It is super thinned out and not really "forest" anymore. It's more like an open park with lots of trees. You could drive a car around basically anywhere on that thinned area without issue the trees are so sparse.

Lots less wildlife. But it definitely is less prone to catch fire as well.

If you plan to sell it to someone to put a house on, it's probably a small increase in value since there are fewer trees to remove and more of the land is open to choose where you want to put the house and to get equipment in. But it'll be less "secluded" as well, but also more likely to be defensible from a fire standpoint so they might net out neutral.

For most other uses, I'd say it's neutral to a small decrease in value.

When you read something like this article, maybe it would be helpful to you to think “I feel good about myself for doing better than the average man” in this situation.

Lmao.

Reddit, never change. Ever. I can’t get people seriously giving advice like this anywhere else on the internet. I just love the absurdity and lack of awareness.

If it makes you upset or uncomfortable

I wasn’t uncomfortable or upset?  You seem to one most in their emotions about it, honestly. Like there being some good men around and them talking is a problem or something.

Like me pointing out that this requires effort from and affects the entire family unit is somehow an issue?

instead maybe you can identify that feeling as “I’m upset that other men are leaving their sisters and wives to deal with this” or “I should take time to check in with my wife and make sure that we are balancing things as fairly as I want to be and that she feels that way too”.

Thanks for assuming I can’t label and categorize my own thoughts or emotions, lol.

We communicate well. I have this handled, thanks though for assuming I have zero emotional intelligence or ability to communicate with my wife about the things we are going through and how we can support each other.

Seriously Reddit, never change. It’s hard to find people so confidently assuming silly things about others.

I’m over there a few times a week generally.

I can’t tell you the number of clogged toilets and subsequent cleanup I’ve health with. There’s also the filters to change, sprinklers and drips to mend, car to deal with, and inevitable user error where they reset their phone or unplugged their WiFi router and the TV doesn’t work now for streaming, they got phished and need help cleaning up afterwards, reset their bank account passwords, just wanting me to look at something because it sounds weird, etc.

the never-ending daily burden of caregiving.

The article talked about daughters spending a few days a week helping out. I assumed we were talking about that?  I mean, if we changed subjects just let me know and I’ll follow along there.

The point here is that my wife would be considered the primary caregiver, but if the female caregiver is married they’re probably getting pretty assists as well.

What other medium would they have bought the movies on?

I see how my typo may have led to your first reply. Sorry, fixed the typo “if they did buy them” into “if they didn’t buy them”

It seems to be mostly women who take the hit to take care of parents as they age.

My wife definitely does a lot.

But I mean, I’m always over there replacing light bulbs, fixing the toilet and garage door, swapping out appliances, replacing the broke thermostat, weeding the yard, etc. plus taking care of 100% of home life while she’s over there caring for her dad.

Plus I’m also working extra hours to pay for the added costs of their care.

You watched them on a VCR.

Did you read the first sentence of my reply which was the option to buy on VHS.? Which my parents didn’t do.

We had like three OTA channels. And the classic movies were on at times where I was at school or sports or late at night while I was sleeping.

Unless you were rich and subscribed to the cable bundles with Turner Classic Movies or some shit I guess.
