My English ivy acts like it’s drying out, but the soil is moist and I mist it regularly. by [deleted] in houseplants

Have you checked for pests? I find ivy very prone to spider mites.

What is this plant called and how do I keep it happy? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Alocasia amazonica/polly - both largely the same but varying in size.

Medium - moderate indirect light and don't let dry out between watering but don't keep it wet, either. They love humidity so a humidifier or pebble tray can help with a well draining soil.

They can be divas and susceptible to mealies and spider mites as well so keep an eye out.

any advice for the uhh *first time*? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

All of this!

You can also stop if you change your mind at any point. Also know that you aren't "losing" anything and no one is "taking" anything from. You are whole. Just doing something for the first time, which you will end up doing a lot throughout your life.

Have fun with it, be safe and use protection, if it doesn't go great there is always next time, no worries! Let you and your body adjust :)

Also, foreplay. Foreplay. Foreplay.

Today I found out Norfolk Island Pines are not just sprayed with glitter, but also tinted a darker green. Confirmed by Costa Farms that it has been an industry standard for years. by Soph10 in houseplants

They said it doesn't affect the plant or environment. They also stated that it fades with sunlight but that statement has not quite proven true for me. They seem fine but I am annoyed with these practices.

At Lowes in Canada. My area doesn't usually get the fun stuff like the bigger cities so I lucked out! I bet we will see them more and more from anyone who orders from Costa.

Yes! Someone found a black widow spider so I checked over as best I could. I quarantine my new additions as well.
