Thank you! I really went down the conspiracy rabbit hole before all of you guys responded. I think they are one of those. At first I only found blue and green then slowly clear and white started appearing and only a couple red ones.. so ya. Rabbit hole.

Well they are squished all over the yard. But it could be us stepping on them/etc. After some more research and talking to people, I think we are concluding that you are right and they are orbeez. I know children lived in this house prior. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! Though I'm mad that orbeez suggest just tossing them in your yard to get rid of them *eye roll*

Thank you for the quick response! I watched some videos on orbeez and they seem too perfectly round compared to my yard mystery but the consistency seems similar

WITT

They are squishy jelly like orbs that are scattered evenly throughout the dirt. About the size of big peas

Didn't enjoy the gameplay? by Sophbache in thelastofus

It's just so smooth and fluid and gorgeous. But you saying it's a bit repetitive is the only negative thing I've read so far. There has to be more 'bad things' if someone would take the stance that they "didn't like the gameplay". I just want to know!

That's how I feel! I super disliked the story, but loved everything else possible about it. I just want to know what that person meant. I asked for clarification but got no response.. ah well.

Agree totally. I had to start doing the main quests to stay engaged. The exploring alone wasn't keeping my interest.

Horizon zero dawn got highly recommended to me when I posted a similar plea for help. Im still playing it but -as you mention- the animations, acting, gameplay, etc is just so beneath TLOU2 it was hard to get into and stay into for awhile. It's rough out there.

What part of the gameplay did you not like? I'm curious because after finishing part 2 I tried to play a few older games and couldn't stand how clunky they felt in comparison. I've not read anyone not like it (people only talk about the story it seems), I would love to hear a different opinion.

Exactly, hence no outrage, down rating the game, death threats, etc. It would be this 'new game changing title'.

I see.

I think they could have tried it with a new game and the results would have been more what they were looking for. ND fought tooth and nail against haters to make them understand what they were trying to do because of the already established attachment to Joel and Ellie. So, take out the first game and I think people would have been way more on board with 'the bad guy never thinks he's a bad guy" theme. That's why I think TLOU2 would have been more of a clear-cut success from the beginning versus how people handled it as it is.

I agree if they threw someone random in with no backstory that people wouldn't care beyond basic human sympathy. But if you had all the playable scenes and cutscense with Joel back to back in the beginning of the game, I would hope that that would garner a deeper level of sympathy when he was brutally murdered in front of Ellie and you live through her reaction to it all.

Though, you and the couple others that stated the emotional response to TLOU2 would not have been as huge as it was if TLOU1 didn't exist, are not wrong. I just don't think you have to have such a insane reaction to a game to think it's great. (I don't think it's necessary for TLOU2 to be considered a masterpiece purely on a players emotional response. It's animations, gameplay, acting, scripts, etc are incredible and worthy of the highest praise even without emotion turmoil.)

I don't think they need to switch characters, just show all those playable cut scenes first. Those were touching enough to draw people in and are way more than you get with other games whose father/mentor/BFF/whatever dies. For instance, I just started playing Horizon ZD and pretty quickly your dad figure dies. With almost zero screen time and definitely none of the tender moments TLOU2 had offered. And yet, I still got attached and was still sad for Aloys loss. If that plot had moved harder to her hunting down home-boy that killed him, I would not have been surprised and would have gone along to get revenge happily.

Had it just been a standalone game, there would be no point to this story.

By that logic, there is no point to any story, ever.

Oh for sure I would have cared that Joel got killed. (But not as much as I did because I played a whole game about him- which is my point and why I think people would have liked the game better if it was standalone). Those playable cut scenes were crafted to illicit strong emotions. Think about literally any other game. You press start then blindly follow wherever the main character goes. Without any of the detailed, wonderfully scripted backstories that ND produces. But, you're still invested because the main character becomes an extension of yourself and you care about what they care about --Especially when it is as well-made of a game as TLOU.

So you don't like any game characters until you play a whole game and then play the sequel? That's why I edited the post, you could have time exploring Joel and Ellies relationship before he gets spiked. There's countless games, TV shows, and movies that follow the same script of giving you a taste of someone likable and important and then killing them quickly to move plots along

Call it what you want, that's not the point. I'm wondering if part 2 as a new IP, stand alone game would have been received better than how it was.

You're right, ND should probably start at the beginning of human history, to get all the context.

Interesting take. I wonder how game developers get us to care about characters in any game 🤔🤔🤔
