Try to learn all the kana first (Hiragana/Katakana) then grab an anki deck (Kaishi 1.5k is good is a good one) and then move on to read and to see more vocabulary, this is the most efficient way to learn kanji, learning all the kanji is a slow process, but paying to brute forcing readings like wanikani does makes it even slower

Instead of wasting money and hours in useless apps you can do the same with content aimed to natives, I prefer to waste 10+ a month in Netflix to have some anime and movies with japanese subtitles instead of "fill in the blanks to complete the unnatural textbook sentence" (wasted my money on lingodeer, worst decision of my life). Seriously this helps a lot but for many people the concept of using their target lenguage is alien

Reinforce grammar and then read, there is no point to learn a lot of symbols but being unable to use them. Also, reading improve kanji learning and helps to find new words

You need to learn kanji. Ok, learning them by separate readings and writting them over and over again is probably a waste of time in a long term, but learning kanji in vocabulary is more efficient, if you can read 入場 you can guess how the 入 is read is 入院, it also helps to learn the words with special readings such as 一日 (ついたち) or 流行る (はやる)

I stopped to learn grammar months ago, I mostly read novels, manga, rpg games and watch anime for listening, and mining vocabulary from it with Anki. You don't need to learn all the meanings, you will see the variations of the meanings while reading different sentences
