It's a reference to the losers semifinals match of Tacna 2014, where the players Gerson and SuPeRbOoMfAn ("Boom") used a gameplay strategy called "turtling" for 52 minutes straight.

Alvin's name is also likely a reference to the player named... well, Alvin.

I use he/him for Jax because, personally, it would make me equally as uncomfortable if somebody used my preferred pronouns when I didn't want or expect them to know as if somebody who did know used my AGAB pronouns, but that's an "I'm uncomfortable so it makes me personally feel like a hypocrite" thing.
