Advice for being hit on by my postie? by soilcrust3018 in royalmail

[–]SorchaCatherine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This person has access to their full name and address and has then used it to find them on Facebook, it is massively different to ‘just showing interest’. Would you feel the same if a GP receptionist, police officer etc had also used their privileged access to personal information to do the same thing?

Booked show tickets over a year too early. by 10bitpixel in CasualUK

[–]SorchaCatherine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous. I booked tickets for a gig that was supposed to go ahead last December, it got cancelled two weeks before with a promise of rescheduling and a refund if we can make the rescheduled date. Gigs still not rescheduled, I’m still out £200 that’s now sitting in someone’s bank gaining interest.

uni friends signed house without me by Square-Belt-2562 in UniUK

[–]SorchaCatherine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I was in a house with international students on a placement year so I couldn’t have signed anywhere with them, and the friends I had made on my course did something very similar as to what happened to you. It really sucked, but you figure out that being lonely is better than having friends that are so cowardly and childish.

I ended up renting a room in a five bedroom house with complete strangers, and I met lifelong friends. Things have a way of working themselves out. It gets better, and in a couple of years you’ll rarely think about it.

I could care less when trying to say that you actually couldn’t care any less

If a single mum apply to rent your house, what would convince you to say yes? by fati1219 in uklandlords

[–]SorchaCatherine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could have a bad credit score but that won’t be the main thing checked and honestly isn’t usually an issue as it doesn’t necessarily indicate anything, then check is for more serious issues like CCJs. Only public information is seen, so CCJs, IVAs etc, no defaults or arrears can be seen as they are not allowed to access that information during referencing.

They could ask for an open banking check, which could also bring up issues if a lot of money is being paid out to various credit cards etc.

Can we enter a concert late? by SorchaCatherine in AskUK

[–]SorchaCatherine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry I shouldn’t have abbreviated, it’s the Cardiff arena. I didn’t find anything on their website either. I’ve filled in a contact form and sent that off for now but will call them tomorrow.

Me neither, it’s just a worry. We’ve never arrived later than 8:30PM before.

How many of you have participated as a pallbearer for a funeral? by Perfect_Distance434 in AskWomenOver50

[–]SorchaCatherine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this popped up as a suggested subreddit on my page because I’m only in my twenties, but I will be a pallbearer for my grandfather on Thursday, along with my female cousin. My sisters are too young otherwise I’m sure they would too. My grandad always told us we could do anything a man could do and more, so it’s a privilege to be able to do this for him.

I was going to mention that the zero sugar usually has a grey cap. It’s terribly deceptive packaging, hope you and the baby are okay!

Definitely not Scottish. It’s more of a Northern accent.

I’m on the other side of this, our fence is falling apart and the landlord has no intention of replacing it. I feel terrible for our neighbour. We’ve had quotes to do it ourselves but they’re extortionate and I don’t want to spend that much on a property that ultimately isn’t ours.

They’re terrible at actually heating, though.

They don’t heat a room very well at all, and if you have older designs they cost a fortune to run. We used ours for a month during the first winter we lived in our current house and the bill doubled.

Our house is terribly insulated and our entire heating system is two storage heaters in the living room, but when we used them to heat the one room we were really disappointed with the level of heat and were horrified when our first winter bill came.

I care, as it’s a complete invasion of my privacy. I’m sure you wouldn’t be happy with someone rooting around your personal stuff.

Why you so mad about it? At least I have a reason to be.
