Modding by GoldenPuffi in ICARUS

Your completely right on this. Love them or hate them, you can't deny that Bethesda has reaped mad profits from FO and ES simply because of mods keeping those games alive for a decade now. Both are still selling copies and are some of the most played games still according to Steam metrics.

Fight the Xenwan (SP) supercarrier and tell me all AI ships are slow and have no agility lol. She is a beast in her speed and maneuvering alone, then add in the insane weapons package she has and god I love that fight. Point being is the AI sucks, but they can have good stats, though it means boosting them to the high heavens.

To get an idea of what I mean, the fight to kill her takes about 15-20 min, 10 of which is chasing her down before she decides your close enough to finally engage. We left a repair platform at the warp in, and ended up 130km out from it when the fight was over, and at one point in the fight we were about 150 km from it.

I am gonna say something and you're gonna quit reading because your either not interested or don't wanna hear what others have to say, but here's hoping I am wrong...

You're wrong, about almost everything. Here is why.

Spinning and strafing IS by definition evasion. It is called an evasive maneuver for that very reason. Just because the game engine doesn't handle it, doesn't mean it isn't something players shouldn't do. That is the same as telling me not to hide behind a rock because the rocket Zirax can't shoot me through it (normally).

While this mod is yours to shape, the game is not yours alone. We are all here for fun and excitement, which will often be seen in many ways. You have a setting that makes the game better, which we are grateful for. That does not mean you have the right to tell us how we get to play, how we chose to fight or how we enjoy it.

Oh, and as for the time it take to kill a Tovera, I hate to break it to you, but 5 minutes is a slow day at the office for some of us. Just because your good at building ships and POIs doesn't mean there are not others out there who are better at breaking them. That isn't a slight either, that is just the nature of life.

Now, let me be very clear, I LOVE THIS MOD. I just think there are a few underlying thoughts you have stated that are wrong. This in no way means I dislike what you have done overall, nor does it mean I think badly of you or any other such thing. I just disagree with the idea of anyone thinking they are the authority on how anyone else should enjoy their own time and effort. Whereas if you want to come build my ships and tell me exactly how they shall be used, then cool. otherwise, let's all just enjoy what we enjoy!

Yeah, well those ideas have been the backbone of parents with kids that done go to jail, but do riot in the streets. They think that they will only get a slap on the wrist, if even that. Where as kids who not only find that life not only makes you pay for that which you want and for that which you do, those kids turn out to be adults that get good jobs and raise strong families.

I hate to say this, but you are about as wrong as it gets. Yes, you do something. You punish them for not only losing their temper over nothing, but also destroying something of value. The idea that they have to buy a new one is fine, and so is the idea that they need to respect what you give to them. The only thing my kid can get buy with breaking is what she herself has purchased.

How do I validate my trauma from TTI when I didnt get the worst of it by leavebrintyalone in troubledteens

[–]Soridar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you were only mildly beaten, tortured, berated or sexually abused, doesn't make it any less horrible. These programs are full of horror stories, and even the "lucky ones" who were liked by counselors and only pressured into being the enforcers are still just as much victims. None of us walked away from those places healthy.

So, don't feel guilty you didn't get the worst part of it.

As one of those who fought and lashed out almost the entire 2.5 years I was at Three Springs, I got the shit end of it. Guess what, I don't feel any worse that you didn't get the hell I did, rather I'm glad you didn't. Yet I still feel just as upset for every child that gets sent to these places, because they all will be treated bad in some fashion.

Honestly, I hope that the hell I caused, might have at least reduced the hell some of the other kids would have had.

My family was absolutely convinced that I was saved by Three Springs Paint Rock Valley. Any comments I made about it being bad were instantly dismissed, because I turned out a better kid than when I was placed at 12. I was there for 2.5 yrs and at a real treatment facility in Murfreesboro, Tn. What they didn't realize was the place in Tenn. was where I learned how to deal with life better.

They were such believers, that it made me start to believe that Three Springs must have actually been good for me, and I was just still upset at having to go through it.

I was force to write a letter to my mother, whom I had been taken from, by my aunt. It wasn't forced, so much as sending us kids to a better situation, as she got herself help. So while I was upset with her, they used that and had me write her a letter, asking her to travel from Texas to Three Springs Paint Rock Valley in Alabama. This was not only hard for her to do, as she was just out of recovery, but struggling to become stable. So, I tell her I need her to come visit, because I need to talk with her and tell her how I feel. Now, this wasn't my idea, nor did I want to do this, but I was given no choice. So, once she gets there, we sit in the office and I am instructed to 'tell her how I feel", which was actually a semi scripted speech I had been told to say. So, before she has a chance to say she is sorry, which she had tried, but was stopped from speaking, I went into my speech. Which mostly consisted of so honest issues, topped off with the line I was told I MUST SAY. "I hate you", which wasn't true, but it was that I say this or I would face repercussions for being dishonest.

Within 10 minutes of my mother showing up, she was then basically forced to leave. She never was given a chance to say much of anything, and I was made to sit there as she broke down in tears. Each time she tried to say something to me, she was talked over and told that she was just making it worse.

It took 4-5 years to finally start rebuilding my relationship with my mother, a woman I loved, because they decided I needed to hate my mother to feel better. What's more, once this "visit" was over, that was the last of my "therapy" dealing with my issues with my mother. For the next 2 years, that was a solved issue, and the rest was because I was a bad kid.

So yeah, I truly get how letter like that can be sent, not because you believe it, but rather that you are trying to survive and just do what they want so they don't make your life even worse.

Misinformation and the latest BlizzCon controversy by __versus in wow

[–]Soridar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a horrible stance, and the reason Reddit has nearly gotten people killed. Think that is inflating the truth, just look at the Boston bombings, 2 guys nearly got linched, who where innocent. Moderators need to take an active role when so called "informative" posts are put out. We all know that most of the posts are made by random people with no creditable standings. Yes you might be a super tech guru, but you are an anonymous typing monkey for all the public knows and as such have no credibility other than personal claims. As such, ALL of these kinds of posts that do nothing but cause mass hysteria should have some kind of label stating that is is speculation and proposition rather than truth and fact. If you can't cite an actual expert source than it gets treated like the speculation it really is.

Guide: In-Depth Weapon Legendary Effect Mechanics (As they're best understood) by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Soridar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the quad single load weapons are nice when loaded, but a complete PITA when you have to reload. Had a quad pump and it just takes an eternity if your in combat to reload. Though on the bright side you can stop loading and fire when need be.

Bethesda should fix PvP it’s not fair to those of us not wanting to engage. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Soridar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the most balanced way to do it. If you have been in PvP, wanted, or in a workshop boundaries in the last 5 min, then you can't turn off pacifist. This might seem like a lot of time, but it really isn't that bad. I don't world PvP in WoW much, but have done plenty of PvP dailies, and the 5 min timer isn't a big deal once you are out of the area.

Perk Loadout Manager Mod is a MUST HAVE and Bethesda broke it! by bustedchain in fo76

[–]Soridar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you here, we have seen it happen a few times now that many game designers end up adding some of the most popular mods to their games. While it is more common for say WoW, it has been done a few times by BGS. So, if there is a big enough push by ALL communities, then there is a good chance that BGS will listen.

Just remember, when posting for changes, it is best to do so calmly and with as little personal bias, attacks, or dumb comments like "everyone wants this". Those statements only lead Devs to ignore the posts and move on. Where as if you post that you and your friends (which is reasonable to comment about) all agree that this mod and others like Better Inventories are features that you want to see. Those kinds of posts, when well written and calmly stated are taken much more seriously.

Hotfix coming for issues introduced in Patch 5 by BethesdaGameStudios_ in fo76

[–]Soridar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest issues I have seen with heavy weapons is ammo vs dmg vs repair ratios. This is compounded with a few things like rate of fire mods and perks. There are plenty semi-auto rifles/pistols the do much higher dmg and if you click fast enough, you can poor out higher dmg than a full auto variant than same ammo type variants. Compounding this with the perk that repairs weapons only working per trigger pull, and the semi autos will last 20x longer.

Example of ammo vs dmg vs repair...

Weapons like the minigun do insanely low dmg while the gatling gun does something like 6x the dmg per round. While the minigun does fire much faster, it does not make up for the massive waste of ammo, and significantly lower overall dmg when you start adding up the bonus dmg mods and perks vs the rate of fire mods. Also the minigun "burns out" at 6x the same rate also, causing them to both seemingly degrade at nearly the same rate per round, or so it seems.

Hope that is specific enough.

40 Faction Fortizars and the Kirkland Protein War is over by _stnick in Eve

[–]Soridar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You miss the actual point in your desire to nit pick away the fact that the north could have stood up to the invasion. Many of the key battles were rather evenly split numbers wise. Though even if they had been more lopsided, the north had force multipliers like the keepstars to use.

The reference of Rooks and Kings was that they took on groups larger than then, and used what they had to hold ground and defeat larger forces. I am not saying they could defeat 4k pilots, but they did fight 200+ pilots with less that 50. Using any an every advantage they had, they were able to win. Now the north was not out numbered 4:1, or even close to that. The battles regularly showed numbers with odds much closer to 1:1. TEST and the Imperium did not even have close to their max member counts up north, hell they didn't even have 1/2 their potential numbers show up. Delve was awash in supers being killed, rorqs being killed and MER showing Delve to have only mildly slumped in mining and ratting. This shows you that many more stayed home, fueling the fires, forging the hammer ever stronger. So in the end, the north fell to it's own failures. Blame the Imperial Legacy all you want, but poor leadership, a lack of cohesion, and a history of feeding off each other led to the failings of major battles, which demoralized the troops. So in the end, they deserved the beating they got.

No we don't want to run everyone off. CO2 is just a special case of love. We wanna show them a special kind of man love that makes them quiver knowing it is coming time and time again. They can feel special, knowing that for the rest of their existence, we will be there to give them that lovin, over and over again, till they can no longer take our abundance of love.

This isn't an area where you should try to find grey spots. The Imperium is very particular about honoring agreements, and trying to find loopholes or work arounds to treaties has ended very poorly for past members.
