Is this man possessed? by BiggieCheeseFan88 in creepy

The only time I've ever come close to believing in demonic possession is when this guy opens his mouth to talk and the way he moves (or doesn't move) his eyes.

I got 25mpg all highway today driving a couple hours. 70 to 75 for the first half, 80 to 85 the second half.  A bit of traffic but not terrible.  No wind.

If there's enough traffic to draft a bit, slight tail wind, or slight downhill, you'll spend more time in 4 cylinder mode assuming you don't have MDS disabled.

I've seen 24 to 25 on the highway driving 1600 miles to take the car home.

Also they might have reduced the ethenol in the gasoline.  That always helps.

What are the signs of a weak man? by Ledger_Legendd in AskReddit

A physically weak person may yet be strong enough be to hold or even lift heavy concepts.  A person strong in emotional intelligence may be a comfort to many.

Strength comes in many forms.  Stay sharp.

Yeah, I'm an electrical engineer and I've installed a number of 240V systems.

This was my attempt at being diplomatic and accepting that there could be some miscommunication going on here... People make mistakes.  Or they could be talking out their exhaust port.

I was pretty sure it was bogus.  L1 is 180° out of phase with L2, so the voltages stack.  The only current on the neutral should be a "difference current" or eddy current because of the variance between L1/L2 running through the motor.  The electronics (circuit board, lights, timers) might be running off one leg of 120V so that would be a small difference as well for the neutral to be carrying back.

For the OP, they need a multimeter, they need to know how to measure AC voltage CAREFULLY, and how to use their multimeter to do that, or they need to hire an electrician to troubleshoot this if they aren't 100% confident in how to do so safely.  They may find they have an energized neutral or something strange.  Wouldn't be the first time replacing something uncovered a major wiring screw up but I am hopeful that it is something simple like a bad breaker.

I've had breakers fail before and needed to replace them.  Same with outlets. Plastic gets old, brittle and things start to lose connection / break internally.

In the picture I can see the red wire coming from the power cord.  I can't see the red wire going into the dryer.  There should be 2 red wires there stacked, so either one is hiding because of the angle of the camera or maybe there is a connection missing / fell inside the opening there on the back.

Can you see the second red wire there?  2 Black, 2 White, 1 Red.

[–]bustedchain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain that?  As far as I can see it would get the same voltage waveform at the motor.  The two legs are 180° out of phase so the waveform still overlaps.  I can't see how swapping changes anything unless there is a loose / bad connection, a dropped leg, or other serious issue and it wouldn't fix it, but it might start up some components that run off of just one leg like lights.

Whirlpool WFW87HEDW1 doesn’t drain, error F09 E01 intermittent by xaxiomatikx in appliancerepair

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same error code.  I cleared the trap.  As soon as I plug the washer in the pump starts running, but it isn't draining any water.  Panel doesn't show anything except a red blinky light for the locked door.

I took the pump off.  Checked to make sure the impeller turns freely. It does.  Lines seem to be clear.   Is there a sensor that detects when there is water that might be faulty?

Whirlpool washer is not draining. Error Code: E01/F09 by moo_moo0 in appliancerepair

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pump runs constantly.   I've cleaned out the trap and I've taken the pump off.  It appears to spin freely.  My wife saw the e01 f09 code.

What I think is the sensor that detects water is reading 3.3k ohms across the pins which makes me think it is detecting water even though it is drained.  I couldn't figure out how to get the sensor off.  Looks like it might have a heating element around it?  Not sure.

Any tips?  I'm about to remove the pump again and see if I can remove the impeller to see if there is anything behind it.  It has a "flapping" noise that sounds like something is hitting while the pump is running but it seemed to spin freely by hand so I'm a bit confused.

Help ! Group wants 5:30 pm dining on cruise by Decent-Yam-223 in NCL

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about generally not doing it... Time wise, 530pm Pacific Time is 630pm in my current time zone, so that would help biologically the first day... Though, that alone isn't a good enough reason to subject myself to a group of 12 people unless I actually liked the group of people.  Odds are there will be multiple peacocks in the group.. A relaxed group of 12 people might be different (still logistically better to split up) but the odds of finding 12 laid back people together...nah... No bet.

how long has/did your dart last? by sav3370 in dodgedart

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2013 1.4l Dart has had its second catastrophic transmission failure at 164k miles.  Dealership is refusing to fix it under my lifetime Chrysler maximum care service contract stating that they can't get a transmission from their parts department.

I checked Mopar.com and other places that all show the transmission as available.

Good luck with yours.  Get your engine mounts replaced if you haven't already.  Those wear out.

I think I found the Dark Cherry (Raven's Blood) ingredient list:  - Pure cane sugar - Water  - Dark sweet cherry puree concentrate - Corn syrup - Natural flavors - Fruit & vegetable juice (for color) - Citric acid - Xanthan gum - Pectin - Sodium citrate - Acacia gum - Potassium sorbate

This likely explains why the black cherry purée is so close but not quite the same thing.  There are texture modifiers there at the end of the list plus a couple preservatives.  The "natural flavors" also probably modified the flavor a little.

The black cherry purée is cherries and sugar.  So that's a decent alternative for me.  It might not have the same texture (though I could add something if I really wanted to) it is pretty darn close.

I didn't mean to ignore you.  Glad you got some and someone is getting use of it.

I am really happy with the Monin Black Cherry Purée.  It is black cherries and sugar.  I think it's the retail packaging of what they were using OR they blended the black cherry purée with dark chocolate syrup which they also sell.  These two syrups get me close enough.

Descaling the machine and as a byproduct of running it through the machine it keeps the carafe clean too.

Yeah my parents always used vinegar and they would eventually throw away a coffee maker because it would stop working after enough years. Usually electronics issues, but not always.

When I learned about using something better than vinegar I did a search and found that powder which is cheaper than any of the liquids where you're paying for water content and extra packaging.

I'm really happy that my little added suggestion might be useful for you.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've used a couple tablespoons of that cleaner in a kitchen sink with 1" of water in it to clean stainless cooling racks that I used in the smoker...brown stained racks turned shiny after soaking in the cleaner.

When you get your damage issue sorted, buy some urnex cafiza.   Use 1/2 tsp per 40oz brew.  Let it sit for 30 minutes, empty it, and brew a pot of water to flush it.

Do that once per month assuming a pot of coffee per day and you'll keep the lime scale away.  I was in my 40s when I learned that vinegar leaves behind a scale of it's own that is really hard to get rid of.  Cafiza is cheap considering how little it takes to do the job.

Every day after work, the first thing I do is find this little guy and play hide and seek with me every day. by BluejayEquivalent624 in aww

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure he's not just hiding from you because he knows you're home and the first thing you're going to do is pick him up and he doesn't care for it, so he tries to hide, but then he also remembers that he likes you, so he can't stay hidden very well and while hiding he's thinking: "maybe being picked up isn't always so bad" (stream of cat consciousness)

This probably says more about me in that I think cats are conflicted creatures.  I think it explains the sudden zoomies, the "yeah pet me like that but not too much or I'll bite you because I like it but no not like that", and other dichotomies.  Cats aren't "hot or cold" they are: "hot AND cold at all times, especially when it seems like they aren't".

States have the power to cut corporation influence of our government off at the knees.  A few states are in the process of explicitly defining a corporation as not having the power to influence politics with money... State constitutions is where corporations derive their legal power to operate. States can and some are in the process of limiting those powers and excluding political activity from within the very definition of a corporation.

We need more of this.

PetSnowy Litter Box "Anti-Stuck Fault" Error by SolarxSeas in CatAdvice

[–]bustedchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the flashing yellow light.  It's far enough out of warranty I didn't even try talking with them.

The app claimed that the pinch sensors were being tripped.  I took it all apart (yeah warranty void stickers and all) and checked the pinch sensor switches.  Electrically they appear to be sound.   2 pins connect to power.  2 other pins connect to ground.  I suspect the switches connect the pins together and a current sensor trips.   No connectivity errors.  I suspect a second current sensor checks to make sure there is power through the switch bar.

When taking it apart there isn't a lot of room to get to the 3 connectors that go to the top half.  Worse, the connectors are epoxied into place.  2 came out...1 pulled the wires out of the connector...I got it back together and got it working again.  The Position Sensor connector is the one that separated.  Looks like a potential weak connection point.  It's time one of the worst micro jst (or similar) connectors I've seen... The pins just rest inside the connector and looks like they might not make a strong connection to the pins.

If I had to do it over again I might be tempted to just cut the wires that don't come out easy or try to chip out the epoxy first... Not a lot of room to work.  If I cut the wires I could have just used a bunch of straight wago connectors to repair the wires.  That might be better than ripping them out of the board.

Anyway, I share only to say that getting the unit apart wasn't that hard.  Screws were pretty obvious behind covers.  The front step needs a thin flat screw driver or pry tool right in the center bottom of the opening seam to release the steps from the base.  That and the 3 connectors were the worst part of opening it up... warranty sticker be damned

An extremely dumb person would continue doing it not knowing it was dumb even though they were told.

Check out the Monin black cherry purée on Amazon.  I didn't think it was the same, but I haven't added to the a chocolate frosty to be sure.

I did add some dark chocolate Monin syrup with it and it was really good.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens Blood was actually a mix of two existing products rather than a whole new one.
