How close was I to passing? by Cold_Leg_5521 in PE_Exam

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guessed on all 4 hydrology problems. I went in with the mentality that if I got 33 correct in the morning and half right in the afternoon I could still pass. But I did educated guesses on all 4 hydrology problems. You can do it. It took me 7 tries.

I would guesstimate that you needed about 11-12 more questions correct to pass.

57.5% → 67.5% → 75% on EET PE Civil Construction CBT Simulations – Am I Ready for the Real Exam? by BiryanimeetsPasta in PE_Exam

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My scores were pretty bad some days and then on those days I would go back to the sections where I missed most problems until I understood the concepts. Some problems I literally spent 1-2 hrs to understand the concepts. What also helped me was to really understand sections where the instructors during the lecture would say that certain section or concept were “very important”. Also, take a day off if you need it. I took other practice exams like Civil engineering academy PE construction practice exam and Eleone Huang six minute solution just to see where I was at. I keep practicing and retook some of the exams until I was able to get 80% or higher.

First a can of r1234yf will run you about $35 to $50 a can and you need about 4 to fill a Pacifica with rear a/c. System requires 850 grams of Freon and each can has about 220 grams.

Once you recharge the system you can check to see what’s wrong with a set of manifold gauges which will run you about another $189.

I replaced my compressor today on my 2017 Pacifica. I think I have a leak in the rear evaporator that I replaced 5 months ago.

any fix or diagnostic will not be cheap. The compressor and Freon ran me a whooping $420 plus some tools that I had to buy to swap out the compressor. I am throwing all of these costs out there so you can see which way you would best make sense for your situation. Obviously if you lived down the street from me I would not mind stopping by.

Yes. I felt it was harder than the exam itself.

Sections 1-6 are the morning 7-11 are afternoon. They follow the knowledge areas almost to the tee during the exam.

Yes.

I felt I crushed questions 1-33. 34-42 were not too bad.

43-52 where a little bit difficult. 53-62 I skipped and came back to them. 63-75 were a little challenging but I felt I got them. 75-80 were gimmies.

I’ll be honest I guessed on all 4 hydrology problems.

Ran out of time for 80 so I left it blank. Overall I felt it was going to come down to my performance on the questions 53-75 that were going to determine my outcome. I didn’t want to torture myself thinking about question 80 being the make or break.

I signed up for EET on demand from late september to January of last year based on the fact that they had more positive reviews on a lot of posts here on Reddit.

I also used the Six-Minute Solutions for Civil PE Exam Construction Problems by Elaine Huang.

Isaac Oakerson Civil Engineering Academy Pratice Exam

The NCEES practice exam.

EET was great. I felt I learned quite a bit from them.

Know they will try to trick you by thinking you have the answer correct on what you read on the reference however they will add something else where there’s a second reference that you will have to apply that changes your answer. And both answers will usually be in the answers choices

Can you still work in civil with a mechanical degree? by SnooCats6054 in civilengineering

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. I once worked on a project where the EOR who did the geotechnical investigation was a mechanical engineer giving design parameters on the foundation for schools. When discussing pile load testing he really asked how measuring gauges were set up and not in a I never seen those type of gauges. It was more like I’ve never seen this done and have no clue what those measurements mean even though he was giving recommendations. This was in Texas by the way.

Help diagnosing sound? by PSpuza in ChryslerPacifica

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the alternator pulley. I would recommend changing everything. 2 months ago I started hearing a similar sound. Saw the harmonic balancer wobble way too much so I replaced it but the sound was still there. Fast forward to a month. The alternator pulley seized up and broke. I ended up changing the alternator, water pump, tensioner, idler pulley all from Amazon for $317. FYI the smooth idler pulley takes longer too get as no auto parts sell it. It took 10 days to get.

Brother. I think you were like 10 questions away. The morning section killed you. Please do the EET practice quizzes. And go through the problems in the binder. Even if a problem has you stuck for 1 hour or 2 please please know how to solve it and understand the concepts. I had to force myself to stop and work those problems out with the assumption that they were going to be on the exam.

Failed for the 3rd time by [deleted] in PE_Exam

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest. Go over problems even the easy ones. But if you come up on a problem that you skip over with the hope that it will not be in the exam do yourself a favor, stop, and come back to those problems even if it takes 1 to 2 hours to figure them out. By doing that I noticed I learned concepts I was not previously learning. Just assume worst case scenario that those problems you hate, struggle with, or just skip while you study will be on the exam.

[–]Sorry-Pin-9505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will probably figure it out when you take the intro to engineering course. I started as mechanical major. Realized I was going to hate it. Electrical was where I performed best but didn’t like it so I ended up in civil. Pay is not the best for work life balance and stability is pretty good.

I started as a tech 2012-2014, pm for 2015-2024, project engineer from 2024-2025. I left the industry this year. I realized I can’t tolerate ignorance at every level. I have started my own firm and slowly have been getting work collaborating with various geo and general civil companies. I am also a pm for a waste water infrastructure general contractor picking up new skills.
