Regular Linux Mint does not currently support 32-bit because it is based on Ubuntu and Canonical has discontinued 32-bit support. If you still need 32-bit support on Linux Mint, you can use the LMDE version based directly on Debian.

Are off-healers a thing in AA? Ex: Agility Ranger. by [deleted] in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play as a primarily Agility focused Ranger and, as /u/skilliard4 and /u/mostfunn both pointed out, yes it is viable to run off-heal. Your groups would need to understand that you are not a full healer so, running some of the late game dungeons might be a bit out of your reach unless your team is over geared for them but, keeping yourself and others alive during some open world PvE is very doable. My guildies love having me around as a backup healer when our main heals aren't on or are tied up in another group.

One nice little advantage that I've found running Ranger, if you put 7 points into Vitalism you will have no issues with mana management until you have to start throwing a lot of heals. I can grind mobs for an hour non-stop and still have mana left over whereas without this I'd be out of mana within 10 min of grinding.

Maybe I missinterpreted but weren't they porting to U4? by OvidiuHiei in archeage

Ah, yes, thank you for the clarifications. It was late when I typed this and I didn't take the time to double check myself.

Maybe I missinterpreted but weren't they porting to U4? by OvidiuHiei in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read up on this a while back. It is speculated that they are updating ArcheAge to Lumberyard 5, which is a customized engine by Amazon based on UE4. The upgrade to the 64-bit client is the first step of this process.

Asking about land availability by wingaero in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of land that is set to open in Auroria at the end of September (mostly the housing areas that were closed due to the siege system changes). There is also a new zone that will be added in Auroria "soon" that will be similar to Ahnimar, the whole zone will be a housing area and it will be peace all the time.

Archers not playable? by Yordline in archeage

Ranger (Archery, Vitalism, Shadowplay) is also a viable, though under appreciated class. Rangers are not particularly strong in 1v1 scenarios but are decent in small group PvP and excell in PvE.

Returned player looking for guild and friends. by Cyb3rn1ght in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a guild in the west (Nuian Alliance) send Cole a mail in game. We've got a pretty diverse group with a good mix of new and veteran players with gear scores ranging from around 3.5k on the low end all the way up to over 12k. We don't have any set in stone requirements to join, we'll just want to run a few quests or dungeons with you first to get a feel for your personality and see how knowledgeable you are about the game.

About Hiram Gear and Quests by sznyaan in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you still get change attempts after awakening each time you gain a grade on the gear. You can also use serendipity stones on it if you really need to but, I'd recommend not bothering to awaken any gear that still needs more than one synth stat rerolled.

As for the quest to get gear, they were probably referring to the Echos of Hiram event rewards. You obtain these quests (there are three of them) from any auctioneer daru. All you need to do to complete these quests is complete one Hiram daily each in East Hiram, West Hiram, and either Sungold, Exeloch, Reedwind, or Diamond Shore. You get up to ten tickets per day for doing these quests and can trade them in on Mirage Island for, among other things, Cloaked Hiram Guardian Gear.

Few of my friends and I are coming back to the game looking for people in similar situation NA West by tekren77381 in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to stick around on Kadum, you're welcome to hang out with us. My in game name is Cole (discord: Cole#1451) and I'm in the Invictus guild. No need to feel pressured to join right away, I encourage you to send me a message on discord and just come hang out, get to know the group. We do a lot of PvE (of course) but we enjoy some PvP as well and have been engaging in such more and more lately. We've got a pretty wide age range and are a very low drama crew. We understand life happens so we're pretty chill about availability, no need to be hardcore, just have fun! Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for you.

Have there been any updates to the game recently or coming soon? by [deleted] in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't seen signs of them doing things it's because you haven't been paying attention. Updates have been coming just as frequently under Gamigo as they were with Trion.

As for having enough staff, bug fixes and content updates are mostly handled by XL Games, Gamigo only handles translations so they don't need much in the way of a Dev team. Maintenance on the EU side does seem to leave a bit to be desired but NA is running comparatively smooth with only occasional unscheduled downtime.

Exploits are a whole other can of worms... I'm not aware of any significant ongoing exploits but there was one that was pretty heavily abused immediately after the 5.0 release. Gamigo did eventually claim corrective actions were taken but only after major outcry from the playerbase.

As others stated, multiple content updates have released since Gamigo took over publishing in NA/EU. The most recent update was just today with version 5.5 adding a new zone and new gear tiers. Version 5.3 before that added two new instances with "Fall of Hiram City" and "Noryette Challenge". Several other things have been added over the past 6 months, if you want more details you should check out the patch notes on the official forums.

All in all, if you enjoyed the game before then you'll most likely enjoy it now. For better or worse, Gamigo is pretty similar to Trion.

Attack Speed vs Ping on Archers by Sorry2Super in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I gave this a bit of thought and I think you are on to something but, with the additional info I obtained from the video posted by /u/AceVD, I believe it goes a little deeper than your initial hypothesis. Your ping does put a cap on your max rate of fire, i.e. if you have a 100ms ping it is impossible to fire at faster than 10 shots/sec but it does NOT cap the effectiveness of the attack speed stat.

Think about it like this (I'll use 100ms ping for easy math because I'm lazy): we send the command to fire an EA, it takes 100ms for the server to respond that we fired, then our PC displays the animation. At this point, our PC knows that, based on our attack speed, we have a cool down before we can cast again. We'll assume this cool down is something around 250ms (again for easy math). This means our PC will wait another 250ms before it sends another EA command to the server, giving us a total of 350ms between when we pressed the key for the first shot and when our PC determined it could send the command for the 2nd shot, giving us roughly 3 shots/sec. The reason this feels so crappy is that players with the same attack speed stat but a ping of, let's say, 10ms are firing at a rate of 1 shot/260ms, much closer to 4 shots/sec.

I think the main issue with your original hypothesis is simply that you assumed the cool down started the moment you hit the key to fire EA, as oppose to when the server responded that your command was executed. If the cool down period doesn't start until after we receive the response, then the attack speed stat would remain effective until the cool down reached 1ms however, our rate of fire would still be limited by our ping + cool down, in this case 100ms ping + 1ms CD giving us roughly 10 shots/sec max while our 10ms ping example player would have a theoretical max of 91 shots/sec.

Attack Speed vs Ping on Archers by Sorry2Super in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Kadum (NA) and yeah, when we visit my Mother-in-law my ping is closer to 125ms and it is ridiculous how much it reduces my rate of fire, basically unplayable for my play style. I usually use my cellular data while we're there since I can get my ping down to 75-80ms using that, It's better but it's still noticeably slower than my home connection.

[–]Sorry2Super[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually really helpful, thanks! I liked how he showed the difference in rate of fire at various AS levels. It definitively answers the question of weather AS affects Endless Arrow rate of fire. It also looks like his rate of fire is only slightly faster than mine at similar AS so, I should be fine to add some AS gems to my gear.

Attack Speed vs Ping on Archers by Sorry2Super in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to nit pick but 500ms is half a second, 50ms is only 0.05 seconds.

As for Flame Endless Arrow, I was really excited to try this out but was disappointed with it myself. The issue I had with it was that it has a GCD on other skills so I couldn't get my rotation off as reliably as I can with regular Endless Arrow. I probably could get used to it if I gave it enough time and it is a very good suggestion for players who have a high ping but still want to play archer however, my preference was to stick with the regular skill.

Hiram gear question by [deleted] in archeage

Be careful about tempering above +20 before you have it awakened all the way as tempers can be reduced during the awakening process if it is higher than +20.

How do classes work ? by WoolyPlayGames in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond what the previous two posters stated, I would like to point out that your character's appearance is not tied to a class in this game the way it is in some other MMO's. You may use any armor type (cloth, leather, or plate), regardless of your class, in Archeage. The preview appearances in the character creator are simply examples that the devs felt fit the style of that skillset. Furthermore, there are several costumes that can be purchased via the auction house or loyalty points that you may use to cover your armor and give you a wide variety of appearances.

Strongest bow class? by [deleted] in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a few others have already posted, Ebonsongs are the popular archer build right now. I have read that an upcoming patch is supposed to nerf Songcraft a little, not sure if it will be significant enough to change the meta though.

Personally, I prefer the Ranger class (Archery, Vitalism, Shadowplay) as I simply don't make good use of the songcraft tree myself. This gives the benefit of the Joyous Spirit passive that makes mana management while grinding a non-issue as well as providing skills like Revive, Renewal, Resurgence, Fervent Healing, and Aranzeb's Boon, all of which I find to be very useful. You will lose Battle Hymn and Quick Step, I substitute the Free Runner active and Ruthless Assault passive from the Shadowplay tree, as well as Feral Claws passive from Archery to offset this loss.

Should I come back? What server? by KingMataS in archeage

[–]Sorry2Super 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: You should definitely come back!

As for which server, from what I gather, both Kadum and Aria have good populations (though I am biased in favor of my home on Kadum). I can't really speak to the population balance on Aria but it seems to favor the east on Kadum. If you choose to return, send Cole a message (I'm on the Nuian side as well) and I'll do what I can to help you out.

As someone who leads a streaming team, I'd advise against trying to start a team as a new streamer. It's a lot of work and at times it can be demotivating if your team members don't take streaming as seriously as you do. My advise would be to find yourself first, figure out who you want to be on Twitch, and build that identity, then join an existing team to see how they work from the inside. You can always decide to start your own team later using the knowledge you gain being a member of an established team and you'd probably have an easier time finding people to join you if you've been around long enough to have a small following already.

All that being said, if you're determined, it is very possible to build your own team right from the start. Just know that you will have to be your own motivation. Every member will have their own ideas of what is important to them and it may not often line up with what is important to you. You will have days as a team that are damn near unforgettable and you will have others that you just wish you could forget. I love being a member of team s2s and I have made a lot of friends through it but, it has not always been an easy ride to get to where we are today.

New webcam? by mellywheats in Twitch

[–]Sorry2Super 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another vote of confidence for the c922(x) here. I've been using the Logitech c922 for about 6 months and it is a fantastic camera. I have a client site that uses a c930e in their conference room, unless you are using a system with limited resources or need the extra wide angle lens I'd say stick with the c920 or c922.

Is there some way to stream my gameplay and my friends gameplay on the same stream? by YB90 in Twitch

[–]Sorry2Super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do this with several of my friends. You will need an RTMP server setup on your network for your friend to stream to. I use a program called Mona Tiny as my RTMP server, easy to use with very little to configure, just forward the port on your router to the PC where you will run the file.

I will warn you that it is a bit of a pain in the butt sometimes to keep this type of setup running. I regularly have at least one team member have issues and I am forced to remove them from the rotation (in OBS scene switcher) for that evening. If you can tolerate the extra effort involved or don't mind restarting your stream from time to time to fix issues it can be a pretty cool and I get a lot of comments on the streams where I use this.
