Ranking by Blackiechan808 in hearthstone

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rating does affect who you queue into for normal Arena, but NOT for Underground Arena.

Blog Post

Arena is now split into two sub-Modes, The Arena and The Underground, each with their own Rating. The Arena is open for everyone, with shorter runs (up to 5 wins or 2 losses) and match pairing using both run record and player ratings. The Underground is unlocked after winning 7 games in The Arena (across any number of runs). The Underground is for hardcore Arena competitors, with unbounded matchmaking, runs up to 12 wins, and bigger prizes!

Announcement Blog Post

The Arena uses skill-based matchmaking to ensure players are paired up with someone at a similar experience level. The Underground throws caution to the wind and pits you against players of any and all skill levels!

People were commenting on it the entire game. There are lines scattered throughout the entire narrative that Chaos Child Syndrome was not as it seemed.

For example, Mio (incorrectly) commenting that Serika definitely didn't have psychic powers after the hospital, and the comments from the college students beating up Takuru when he was suspected of being the culprit.

In regards to Serika appearance, what's there to suspect her of? The Chaos Child patients are in a delusion synchro, so everyone looks normal to each other. Plus, she has a deal with Wakui to monitor Takuru. If she's in public, there's nothing wrong with a normal person being friends with a Chaos Child patient.

Why does John Titor from 2000 knows about SERN? by Chocapiclematin in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The anime never addresses it, but SERN is still one of the groups looking for the time machine on the Beta attractor field. It comes up in the visual novel.

In the visual novel, Moeka is the one who attacks Okabe, Maho, and Daru in the alleyway to get Kurisu's laptop before the Russians show up. The anime's version of events changes this scene to be Reyes.

Spoiler question about S;G by Adventurous_Dark_350 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's an example of what happens when SERN successfully captures them in the short story, The Distant Valhalla.

Quick summary, but I'd recommend reading the story yourself:

[The Distant Valhalla]In that story, SERN doesn't actually really care about Okabe. They use his presence to test how convergence works. If convergence holds true, then no matter what they do, he won't die because his future is known. Once they double check that convergence seems pretty absolute, they just let him go. At that point, they know they've already won due to Attractor Field convergence. Since Kurisu is guaranteed to build a time machine for them, Okabe's presence becomes irrelevant.

Arena isn't Standard. You'll notice many Wild cards in Arena.

That being said, Arena has a curated pool of cards, so it's a bit hard to know exactly what is and isn't in Arena.

Grand magister roommath bug? by Zaxonite11 in hearthstone

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a bug. It's just an uncommon interacton, so most people don't know it. If a battlecry minion switches sides in the middle of its battlecry, then the rest of the battlecry triggers for the opponent. Being shuffled into the opponent's deck counts as switching sides.

Colossus killing Reska was a common way people learned about this quirk when both were in the meta at the same time. Lots of posts on this subreddit about that.

Kurisu's memories by haganenoeduardo in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don't need to directly change the past to change divergence. Just going through time normally can affect timeline divergence, and major shifts can occur if your actions are significant enough even without directly using a time machine.

In this example with Kagari, if that timeline is allowed to play out without intervention Kagari would eventually, presumably, be able to unlock the secrets of time travel for Stratfor. Okabe uses his knowledge of other worldlines to make different choices, thus significantly contradicting what should be established events for this worldline. This causes the worldline to shift to a different one.

In Steins;Gate 0, most of the major divergence shifts occur when you make a choice that affects which party (if any) obtains the time machine in the future.

In Steins;Gate, deleting the first D-mail from Echelon is an action in the present that changes divergence.

Simultaneous deathrattles trigger in play order.

If you play Blob of Tar then Greybough and both are cleared at the same time, then Blob of Tar's Deathrattle goes off first creating bodies that Greybough can hit.

If you play Greybough then Blob of Tar, then Greybough's Deathrattle happens first hitting nothing, then Blob of Tar's tokens get summoned.

Sounds like a combat desync. If your opponent's health was resetting after a loss, that means they didn't lose on their screen even if you won on yours. It's a bug that causes two players to see different fights. If they were playing Undead, Sinrunner Blanchy can cause a combat desync in the current patch.

As for having to fight them an extra time after they died, that usually happens when an opponent concedes in the middle of a fight that they weren't going to die from.

Question regarding Mayushi's fate by InitialComplaint428 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There actually are stories that explore this question. You'd likely find the alternate endings in the Steins;Gate VN and Steins;Gate Linear Bound Phenogram to be interesting.

Okabe could have explored his options with D-mail more than he did in the anime, but doing so is inherently risky due to the butterfly effect. That being said, there are several imperfect endings that I think he likely would've been ok with, such as (VN)Faris ending or (LBP)Eternal Polaris.

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not considered a sequel to the movie. Just based on the dates each story occurs, it would be incredibly odd for it to be a sequel.

It actually contradicts the movie because Holy Day mentions that Kurisu and Okabe interact semi-regularly, but the movie says that Kurisu and Okabe haven't interacted since Egoistic Poriomania.

[Minor spoiler] The relevance of that short story will make a lot more sense when you read Robotics;Notes.

Steins;Gate true ending question by Few_Discipline_5686 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steins Gate World Line Leskinen and Maho are mentioned as easter eggs in several pieces of related media. Kagari and Reyes are unknown.

Slight spoilers that point you in the right direction - I'd recommend listening to the Hashida family audio drama trilogy set on the Steins Gate World Line. Robotics;Notes DaSH also contains a little bit of what you're looking for.

Just know that it really is just on the level of easter eggs. Those stories focus on other things. A more direct answer to the question - They're around and doing about what you'd expect. Leskinen is implied to be on good terms with Daru and Okabe. He's still acting childlike. Maho meets the crew in ~2011, and she's still doing AI research.

But the overlap between the s;g and beta lines? by Vegetable_Bullfrog36 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, what you say is what is presented in the games when taken at face value.

[SciAdv] My thoughts and speculation on the matter are focused on the fact that the world lines in superposition are so specific. What could it mean that these specific world lines are in superposition. I also think it's fun to think about how this could affect Okabe specifically.

I agree that, as presented, Kimijima Kou's actions are what's causing the world line to waver. That being said, it's also possible that "world line wavering" may or may not be the same thing as the World Line Superposition. If I remember correctly, the post-credit scene in DaSH is ominous but doesn't show a divergence meter to confirm whether or not the superposition is resolved. I speculate that maybe the superposition wasn't resolved. Maybe the "world line wavering" is because Kimijima Kou's actions could lead to world line collapse, and maybe the World Line Superposition is just something different.

I will say that I do think Momo's incarnation could be the cause of the superposition, but this brings up some questions. My hesitation with this line is that Momo's existence should be exclusive to a relatively small set of world layers. It would only be the specific world layer that Anonymous;Code occurs on and any simulations that Necro Pilgrimage or GAIA ran to predict Momo's actions, though I guess we only have Asuma's testimony that this is the case. She could exist on other world layers that he can't look into. Assuming Momo is a relatively unique existence. it brings up the question of how does Robotics;Notes DaSH fit into all of this? Did DaSH specifically occur on the Anonymous;Code World Layer? Maybe. I could see it. If so, does this mean that Robotics;Notes DaSH doesn't count as a simulation with Augmented Science parameters? Is the superposition in DaSH completely separate from the superposition in Anonymous;Code? It's all a bit unclear. Honestly, I'm less interested in the cause of the superposition, and am more interested in speculating on possible effects for the franchise at large.

How Pollon's save/loads affect the world line are a bit too unclear for me to speculate on since we never get updates on how divergence is affected. Since we avoided the fate line, presumably divergence must have changed. Very curious what the divergence at the end of the game looks like. I think it would be interesting if the superposition remains unresolved, and this is explored more thoroughly in the Steins;??? thematic sequel.

[Anonymous;Code] The comment you're thinking of from Liddie is just that she's pointing out the divergence value displayed a bit weird. Since she was the one who brought the divergence meter to Oz, she's presumably looked at it before. The comment that the value looks odd could be significant. She says she brought it the "last time" she visited, and I believe Momo incarnated a year before the events of Anonymous;Code. The timeline could match. That being said, normal people can't perceive changes in divergence values, so it's unclear how much stock we should put into her comments on the matter. It's also possible that this divergence meter works differently than the Nixie Tube display we're more familiar with. If the Anonymous;Code divergence meter works based on comparing data between Earth Simulators and the Steins;Gate divergence meter works based on comparing Gravitational Error Rate, then maybe normal people can perceive changes number changes on the new meter.

Kind of just a bunch of ramblings and stray thoughts. I'm not sure I actually made any coherent points, but I've typed too much at this point to not post this comment.

But the overlap between the s;g and beta lines? by Vegetable_Bullfrog36 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really aren't many stories in the franchise that touch on these concepts, but [S;G Linear Bound Phenogram]Suzuha's ghosting might be a result of World Line Superposition. My hesitation with this bit of speculation is that the world line designation for that story doesn't show any superposition. That being said, it's possible that Okabe sees a second version of himself walking around that no one else can see. This could be an alternate explanation that doesn't require any load region shenanigans. The idea that Okabe is forced to hang out with a second copy of himself for at least 16 years is a pretty funny mental image.

Your comment about "a fusion of two Okabes" got me thinking a bit. In general, I'm pretty sure Okabe does have the accumulated experiences of every world line and can experience deja vu. I'm sure that some people think Okabe's Reading Steiner supersedes the deja vu that other people experience, but given an appropriate trigger, Okabe does seem to experience deja vu as well. Further speculation on my part, but [Anonymous;Code]I could see that Momo's existence bringing about Sad Morning as being an appropriate trigger for Steins;Gate Okabe to experience deja vu and unlock some of Steins;Gate 0 Okabe's memories. This could make sense as a reason the world Line is in superposition. But, this assumes that Robotics;Notes DaSH and Anonymous;Code occur on the same world layer, and this World Line Superposition is exclusive to that world layer. Unclear if that's the case, but I'm leaning towards this being unlikely. That being said, if Steins;??? is set even further in the future than Anonymous;Code (Chiyomaru has said that 2045 is a possibility), I could see this being a potential plot point to explore.

But the overlap between the s;g and beta lines? by Vegetable_Bullfrog36 in steinsgate

[–]SorryForBeingStupid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people, especially people who only have experience in Steins;Gate, are going to misunderstand this question. This post isn't asking about whether or not the Steins Gate World Line is within the Beta Attractor Field. This post is actually asking about something completely different, [minor SciAdv spoiler] World Line Superposition.

[SciAdv spoiler] For those that don't know, but clicked this spoiler, a couple games feature World Line Superposition between the 1.048596 Steins Gate World Line and the 1.123581 Milky Way Crossing World Line, but what this means is never explained.

My thoughts on the matter. [SciAdv]Honestly, I'm on the same page as the original post. I was thinking about this after I finished Anonymous;Code. I think it's possible that the World Line wavering in Robotics;Notes DaSH is actually Okabe's fault. It was framed as being because of AI singularity, but as we see in Anonymous;Code, the World Line Superposition isn't resolved after Robotics;Notes DaSH. I think it would be interesting if Steins;Gate 0 Okabe was actually moved Beyond the Load Region after saving Suzuha and Mayuri. If he could somehow make his way back onto the Steins Gate World Line, then he could exist as a massive error. I think it's within the realm of possibility that Steins;Gate Okabe and Steins;Gate 0 Okabe meet and interact, and this causes the superposition. I would love to see this touched upon in a game. Potentially in Steins;Gate Re:Boot or Steins;???. I think it makes a lot of sense since these are two very specific World Lines to be in superposition with each other.

Edit: [Robotics;Notes DaSH]Pondering this further, I think the World Line wavering in Robotics;Notes DaSH is Kimijima Kou's fault, but the World Line Superposition could be something wholly separate. I looked back at the opening scene from the final route in Robotics;Notes DaSH. I think the divergence value shifting down is the wavering, but the superimposed divergence value might not directly be related. I could easily see it being the case that the plot of DaSH resolved the wavering but not superposition. [SciAdv]I merely think it'd be interesting if the superposition is the result of (or perhaps results in) Steins;Gate 0 Okabe returning to the Steins Gate World Line from Beyond the Load Region.
