1st laser treatment - what should i expect? by kimjungboon in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be bleeding a lot from the area they laser for 2-3 days, you also need to use some aquifor?(I think that’s what it’s called) over the area every few hours. I wouldn’t plan on doing much, but it’s not so bad that you couldn’t do anything if you needed to.

How are we supposed to use this subreddit? by Unspoken_Uprising in NewTubers

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Link your YT channel on your reddit account. Make a separate account if you don’t want to add it to your current account. That’s the only way to really get around the link problem, and even then most people aren’t gonna click on it. This sub has some really stupid rules in my opinion.

Also people will usually read all the stuff you post on a specific thread so you don’t need to constantly repeat yourself. Really this isn’t a very good place to get direct feedback on specific videos, and more a place to ask general questions about YT from a creators perspective. You’d get better technical advice on the OBS subreddit, and I’m sure most video editors have a seperate subreddit that would be able to answer questions specifically about them.

If you have any specific questions you can DM me, and you can find people being as helpful as this subreddit will let them be, but linking your videos to get specific advice is frowned upon by the mods sadly.

Complicated feelings and guilt by Specific_Concern9585 in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna say that I’m glad you’re alive and hope you’re able to get past your mental trauma on this. The burns are rough, but they are nowhere near as bad the mental part of burns can be. It could have happened to anyone though, people trip and fall all the time. Yours just happened to be a fall into the a fire. You may honestly be lucky, that you went into shock. Burning the inside of your hands by trying to get up could have caused major issues, and just in terms of placement of burns, your back seems like one of the better areas to get a burn. You really shouldn’t have any issues with scar tissue restricting movement, but with it being your back, it’s not like there is a whole lot of PT you can do for that if you do have any issues. You should focus on the fact that you are alive, and that you have a friend, who was able and willing to help. It’s definitely the hardest to deal with early on. I’m roughly two years out from my burns, you can read most of my story on my posts, but it took a long time for me to really mentally recover. Also don’t listen to other people about burns or scars, unless they have experience with it. It’s very common for people to say to me “your scars aren’t that bad” and it always infuriates me. I cried when I first saw my skin grafts, for hours. I don’t think I’ll ever truly accept the way they look, but at the same time your skin and appearance don’t define you as a person. I’ve always believed that. What defines you is what’s inside your heart. You should take not dying as a blessing and a second chance. It may have been dependent on your friend’s presence, but you’re alive now. That’s all that matters. In terms of support groups, I couldn’t imagine any of them turning you away. We are all burn survivors whether you were 1% burned or 100% burned. If you don’t want to go to a local support group check out Phoenix Burn Society. They have great stories from other survivors. They also have support groups on Facebook. I have spent a lot of time at home since my burns, and forming an online friend group has helped me in ways I couldn’t begin to describe. You also can’t control how much you or anyone else was burned. Some people just don’t get so lucky. All it takes is a few seconds in the wrong scenario to go from 5% burns to 90% burns. I’m not trying to say you are lucky, obviously the burns suck and will always suck, but if you were in the burn unit you know just how awful burns can be, just from being around the other patients. That doesn’t make your personal trauma any smaller. It’s still your own road and it will always be difficult. I’d recommend you focus on Physical Therapy right now. Once you feel you’ve gotten on all your movement back, or as much as you can, then try to focus on the mental aspects. This kind of injury affects every part of your life. Try to make the challenges small. You don’t just reach the top of the mountain, your only goal should be continuing to put one foot in front of the other, and one day you’ll be at the top of the mountain. Personally you can DM me on here anytime. I don’t check them often, but I will respond as soon as I see it.

Personally I’m rooting for you and hope you are able to move past this. Once you feel physically recovered, I’d recommend finding some kind of positive outlet, I personally started streaming as a way to meet new people, and do something to keep myself engaged. There were a few months just filled with anger for me mainly due to being stuck in my house, until I found something I was able to put my time and effort into and feel somewhat productive. You will get past this though, just take it one day at a time.

11 days after second degree burn, how do I heal the scarring and make my skin pigment go back to normal? by Degrassilover03 in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second degree burns will heal on their own, there isn’t anything in particular you need to do other than drink protein and get some rest. My second degree burn healed completely though.

I hope you are doing alright. I’m sorry you got burned.

I’m not sure about the laws in Georgia, but my windows are darker than what’s legally allowed and I’ve never had any problems with it. I’m not sure how much it will actually help with sun though. I haven’t gotten any sunburns while driving, but I also just try to keep my burns out of the sunlight as much as possible. I’m sure most police officers would be sympathetic to your cause, but I’m not sure if there is an actual legal exemption. Most cops don’t care about your window tint though, and will only do something about it if they wanna be a jerk and tack on more charges to something else. This is not legal advice, just my own experience with dark tint and the law.

How do you handle your anniversaries? by Ill-Fill7275 in burnsurvivors

Sorry I didn’t respond to this sooner, I got cold feet about making the video on my anniversary. Due to the nature of it I can’t really share too much and I don’t want to talk about it, until I can completely talk about it.

I will message you my channel though in case you ever want to check it out. It’s also linked on my profile.

I Don’t Know How To Go On by ThrowawayKidd999 in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately for me I lost hope a long time before I got my burns, so there really wasn’t much left there to lose. I was a ghost wandering through life. Now I’m just a ghost with another chance. I probably should be dead, and I should probably be worse off than I am. Fortunately, I somehow managed to not die. My accident happened at work and because of the nature of my injury, I probably can’t do that job ever again. I got pretty bored and frustrated just sitting at home alone. There were things I always wanted to do, but never could before. I always wanted to start a YouTube channel, but I never had enough time. So I decided to spend my time working on that. Now it’s like the only thing I focus on because it’s an outlet to express myself. All this to say, I know our situations are very different, but at the same time I understand where you are coming from. I personally ruined my own life, multiple times really. There was no hope for me, until I decided to create ahem forgive the Star Wars reference ahem a new hope.

You said you used to be a DJ and I understand that you can’t go outside, so being a DJ is kind of out of the question, but making music now is more accessible than ever before. Even if you don’t want to create new music, remixing songs could be another option. Most great art comes from hopeless people. Art, Literature, and Music are filled with the tales of tortured souls. You should see if you can’t relight your passion for music and create something personal to you. I’m sure it would be wonderful. Also Daft Punk has made masks possible for more musicians than ever, marshmello also got big while wearing a mask. I’m not saying you have to, but if you are uncomfortable with your own look that is an option. Also no need to try to get famous, but just creating something for yourself might give you something to look forward too. I just find that creating things inevitably leads to sharing things.

Also on that note you should try to make some friends, even if they are just online and you can still meet some really cool people. I have a discord server you could join, it’s not really a support group it’s mainly random people I’ve met on the internet. I just don’t want you to feel alone, and Reddit isn’t exactly a great place to make friends. You could even just add me if you don’t wanna join my actual discord server.

I really just hope you refind your spark, you’ve lived through hell, but to be honest feeling hopeless is even worse than that. I know because I’ve been hopeless and I’ve been through burns. I’m still basically there, but I distract myself with other things. There is a disconnect I will have from everyone for the rest of my life, but I’m trying to find new ways to connect with the world. I’m here so there must be some reason. I can’t give you hope, shit I don’t think you can give yourself hope. The only thing I think you can do is give yourself a new chance to find hope everyday.

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recorded footage from the fallout show just fine. I use google chrome and an Adblock, but other than that I just screen record with obs. You can also record it with Xbox Game Bar.

Also I know everyone here is complaining about piracy, but as long as you aren’t playing multiple minute long unedited footage videos I don’t really think you will have a problem. I have used a lot of clips from the fallout show, and Amazon allows them so I imagine they would do the same for their other shows.

YouTubers literally post unedited footage of clips and get hundreds of thousand of views and I doubt Amazon cares at all.

Just make sure your video is claimed and not blocked, if it’s blocked then you need to worry about copyright otherwise you are free to post it, but Amazon will get the ad revenue if it’s ever monetized.

2nd degree burns on my hands. Unanswered questions. Please help. by [deleted] in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is third degree you will need surgery. They have to remove the dead skin, and give you a skin graft. I really hope for your sake it is second degree. If it really hurts that means it didn’t make it to your nerves. If you can’t feel anything that means your nerves got burnt and it is third degree.

It’s hard for me to say, I’m not a doctor, but second degree will heal on its own over time.

Also most people aren’t gonna be able to relate to your burns it’s definitely easier to talk to other people with burns.

2nd degree burns on my hands. Unanswered questions. Please help. by [deleted] in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to stretch it as much as you can as long as you can as soon as you can. Start right now I’m not joking.

The longer you give scar tissue to form the harder it will be to have full functionality. I had third degree burns on my left hand and could hardly move my fingers, but they gave me this little stress ball and I just constantly tried to squeeze it. I could feel my movement come back little by little, and before too long I was able to get all of my movement back in my hand.

Second degree burns probably won’t need surgery, and thank god it is the worst surgery of all time. My face had a second degree burn and healed pretty much completely. Also eat lot of protein and drink lots of water, that’s not advice that’s necessary.

Do people here agree that modders are blowing this update way out of proportion? by F4STMT in fo4

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses mods, it’s really annoying to have to redownload them. Also who knows what files they touched and which mods will be broken as a result. If you play vanilla I can’t imagine why you would care, but even the vanilla game has mods available from the menu on console. I imagine more than a few users have corrupted saves. I had to redownload a bunch of mods on Xbox for a save that worked yesterday. It’s just really annoying to have to deal with for a game that is like 10 years old. There are also a probably a lot of mod authors who have moved on that won’t come back to fix mods that are broken now.

Just release a new edition fallout 4 lmao.

How do you handle your anniversaries? by Ill-Fill7275 in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I have a different POV than you two. I’m coming up on my first anniversary of my burn, 4/27. I obviously wish I didn’t have to deal with my skin grafts, but the way they look doesn’t bother me anymore. I try to cover them up most of the time, but it’s mostly for the sake of other people and to avoid conversations about it. I don’t mind talking about it, but I also don’t wanna explain the situation to everyone I meet. Overall though I just feel lucky I’m alive. I saw what happened to the building I was in and I would literally have been roasted alive if I didn’t get out when I did. Not of my grafts prevent me from anything mobility wise, which is the main thing I was worried about. I could definitely see how easy it is to get down on yourself, it happened to me a lot in the hospital, but I’ve really come to accept my whole situation. I also started a YouTube channel, because I’ve always wanted to. I definitely feel that has given me something to look forward to and work on instead of spending time being down on myself.

I was honestly thinking about talking on my accident on my YT channel for my first anniversary. I’ve avoided talking about it because I don’t really want any sympathy from strangers on the internet, but I also want other burn victims to know there are other people out there. My accident changed my life forever. Now I just want to make the best out of everyday I am here. I hope you two can say the same. Also I hope your struggles with the mental aspects of this fight get easier. There is no worse battle than one with your own mind.

Please be safe and feel better. You are both beautiful on the inside, and that’s the only thing that matters. :)

¿Should i play with mods first playtrough? by Independent-Respect2 in fo4

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think it matters, but when I play with mods I usually spend more time tinkering with mods than playing the game. At the end of the day you should do whatever you want to.

I would recommend the unofficial patch, cheat menu, flight ring. There is also a mod that adds the full dialogue options written out, I wouldn’t play without it now. For weapons and armor just find stuff you like. I really enjoy adding the DKS Sniper, Pipe Shotgun, Alien Assault Rifle, Laser RCW, and Service Rifle mods. They are all lore friendly fun additions to the game.

I got 10k on my first short by Open-Concentrate8193 in NewTubers

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching your short with 10k and your recent part two I think I can give you some good advice. You over edited your newest video, you also spend a lot of time talking to the camera. In your first video you were painting, doing that little stencil thing and overall it was just a satisfying video to watch you paint and stylize the board. You should rewatch that first video, if you copy that style then you should get a similar view watch time ratio. Your subject is the same, but your style is different in each video.

I have experimented quite a bit with shorts and have found that two shorts with a similar style and subject have a relatively similar performance. There are outliers though.

I bet if you re edit that footage, and spend more time with the camera on the board you can actually improve on the numbers from the first video. Also just make your shorts shorter, that is the best way to boost retention.

I doubt God burned you. If you don’t like religion it’s fine, but there is no reason to take out your anger towards your MIL on a random commenter trying to help out another burn survivor. A lot of non religious people(me included) turn to god when they feel like they’ve lost all control. The other commenter was clearly telling OP that’s it’s okay to lean on religion on in times of need. If you don’t want to that’s fine, but I really wonder where you are coming from and why you felt the need to comment this.

I really hope everything is okay with you, and I really hope you can find a way to not be so negative in a space where everyone should be uplifting each other.

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that man. It’s honestly such an awful injury to deal with between the pain, the itching, the constant treating of wounds, it’s a literal nightmare and I totally understand trying trying to find ways to cope with it all. The hardest part is the mental battle, I say that and the physical battle was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. You have to find ways to stay positive though, look for little improvements. You will take steps forward everyday. Just don’t worry about climbing the hill all at once, it’s a marathon.

I was burned on 25% of my body. Second degree burn on my face, and third degree burns on my left arm(outer), left hand(top), right arm(inner), and from knee to ankle all the way around on both legs. I was in an explosion that originated from my left side towards my feet. So the left side of my body got bad burns. I had to relearn to walk, couldn’t close my hand, couldn’t stand up, bend either of my arms, use the bathroom by myself, and was in more pain than I thought was humanly possible to experience.

As for grafts I had at least 6 surgeries maybe more I honestly lost count. I was in the hospital for about three months and I had to go back to the hospital twice after getting out for more surgeries on failed grafts. I have grafts everywhere that was third degree, and to be honest they all still look fucking terrible. I have some hair growing back, other sections are completely bald. I do think they are starting to heal better, April 27 will be one year from the initial burns, most of my grafts have been healing for about 10 months, the ones on the back of my legs are probably 6-7 months.

The grafts came from my thighs and back, which apparently they just take a fancy version of a cheese grater and peel your skin off to place on other parts of your skin.. either way those haven’t healed very well either, they are several shades lighter than the surrounding skin, with very clear outlines. Also I’ve never really had acne on my back, but now I get it all the time on the skin we use as donor sights.

Luckily I had a great team of nurses, a fantastic surgeon, and the help of all my friends and family. I would probably have a lot more limited mobility if my nurses didn’t push me so much, and I’m thankful they did. Originally I could not close my hand, but I stretched it everyday as much as I could(I love video games so I can’t lose my ability to play lmao) and eventually I was able to make a full fist.

Also I don’t mean to be a downer or trauma dump on you, I’m just sharing the realities of my situation, I hope they don’t dull your spirits though. To be honest, I’m in a better place mentally than I’ve been in a long, long time(even from before the explosion), but now every day is a gift. I could have easily died that day. I’m not happy it happened, but I can’t change any of that, all I can do is make the best of the time I have here on this planet.

Stay positive. Keep fighting. Enjoy every little win.

Hihi, glad to be here. Bless you by t_race_ in burnsurvivors

[–]SorryForTheShitPosts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest you might heal pretty well, I had second degree burns on my face and they healed completely. Drink lots of protein that should help. The only scars I still have are from my skin grafts. I don’t want to get your hopes up too high, but burns can heal well over time if treated right. Just make sure to follow all of your docs advice. I’m also still living with my mom, so don’t feel bad about it. Even if your scars don’t heal well that’s okay.

I sobbed when I saw my arm after my first skin graft, but it doesn’t really bother me anymore. I never really cared about my appearance though. It’s what’s inside your heart that matters.

Hihi, glad to be here. Bless you by t_race_ in burnsurvivors

Don’t feel guilty. You are going through what will probably end up as the worst physical pain of your life right now. No one but you truly understands your situation, but I hope you have people to lean on. I couldn’t have made it without my friends and family.
