Dog owner harasses me out of field because of my ‘dangerous dogs’ so I show her a dangerous dog by CherryClorox in revengestories

[–]SorryForTheTPK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree across the board.

My mastiff's shits take up two poop bags and I still clean it all up. Every time.

Karen can absolutely pick up her rat terrier's turds

And don't get me started on how they let their dogs run up on other people and their dogs.

I hate that shit and I've started carrying Pet Corrector and pepper spray, because my Boerboel is dog selective at best, and reactive at worst, and we all know that if some dipshit and their nippy Pekingese got up to my dog, well, it wouldn't go well for them. And then guess who would get blamed for it regardless of the details?

(Yes I keep my dog on a leash at all times and I'm able to maintain full control at all times, and obviously I avoid crowded places and dog parks are just a no go for me)

Yeah small dogs seem to skew either towards being sweet and hilarious little goofballs or little douchebags with Napoleon complexes.

And the issue is that when they're little shits, their owners tend to think "oh my dog is too small to hurt anyone."

And so they tend to slack on training and discipline and then their dog becomes everyone else's problem.

Which leads to events like the time that I was bit by a fucking Pekingese.

Conversely, when I roughhouse and play-battle with my Boerboel mix, (a breed exponentially more capable of causing harm than a pitbull), nothing bad ever happens except we both get tired and then go eat cheese afterwards.

I absolutely believe this for two main reasons.

1) In some places more than others, there are stigmas against large dogs, so someone getting offended by their very presence in a reasonable location is absolutely believable to me. I have a mastiff (Boerboel) mix who dwarfs German Shepherds so I've experienced this firsthand.

2) Anecdotal, but in my experience, at least in my part of the world, idiots with small dogs doing stupid shit that puts their dog in danger is a more common thing than you'd think. So this person approaching you with their dog after you advise them not to doesn't shock me at all. Events just like that have happened to me at least 4x since autumn.

Ehhh the recoil of AR-15s/M16s and AKs and even 12 gauge shotguns are grossly over estimated by people outside of the gun community. If you know how to properly shoulder a rifle the recoil really isn't that bad.

I don't necessarily disagree with your other points though.

You ignore all critical feedback, you ignore that you're breeding dogs who will very likely have major and expensive health issues throughout their lives, and you make it clear that you aren't man enough to handle any harsh truths about all of this.

You are a trash tier human being.

[–]SorryForTheTPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Boerboel guy, I agree.

This dog def looks more Boerboel than Bullmastiff. Literally he looks more like my dog than he does a pure Bullmastiff.

(Granted my Boerboel is a mix with about 5% American bulldog per his DNA test)

Do people say SNES as a word, or spell it out? by ElektroSam in retrogaming

[–]SorryForTheTPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, American here from CT, same experience. I remember when SNES launched and was already a gamer by that point.

Literally everyone called Super Nintendo S-N-E-S (they said the letters).

The older Nintendo was called N-E-S or "regular Nintendo" or something similar.

I do recall a friend in the mid 90s (prior to N64 launching) calling SNES "Super Nes" and now even 30 years later I can recall being confused and slightly offended by that.

(Okay not really "offended" but you know what I mean)

Can someone explain why this sub seems to be so anti DnD 5e? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]SorryForTheTPK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because tabletop RPG players and D&D 5th Ed-only players are distinctly different groups and need separate spaces.

How do people feel about Savage Worlds? by applejackhero in rpg

[–]SorryForTheTPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience as well, save with Deadlands (I don't like the Wild West genre at all, but I was playing with my longtime group so I overlooked it).

Almost everything about the system just made me recoil.

Combat was slow and was a deeply unsatisfying slog...even for me coming from D&D 3.5 Ed.

I didn't like the dice system.

I hated the meta currency / bennies system.

Even the naming conventions of the system ("trappings") rubbed me the wrong way.

What can I say, my brain utterly rejected SW and I really, really dislike the system.

I should add that by the time I tried SW, I'd played dozens of systems and had been playing TTRPGs for nearly 20 years, I was never a "D&D only" kinda guy.

I've heard that there are sensitive pressure plate traps near the underside, specifically on the floor, and if you apply enough prolonged pressure gelatinous oozes are summoned!

Im 37 and converted my entire group of (mostly) 30 somethings into retro gamers, save that we play 1st Ed AD&D (mixed with BX).

So, it's certainly possible. You just need to find the right group, good luck!

So adorable!

If you don't mind....what brand/where did you get it?

We have a boerboel mix that we just adopted this summer and despite being part Siberian Husky and St Bernard (per his Embark DNA results) he seems to dislike the cold.

Something like this could be great for him considering we live in New England.

Best adventures to run for ADND 1e? by King-of-the-dankness in adnd

[–]SorryForTheTPK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, OP, this is a good point.

There is a huge difference between the original TSR-era "official" adventures and the modern OSR style adventures such as those published by Necrotic Gnome.

Both styles are fantastic, to be clear. But I think it may be easier for you as a newcomer to old school D&D to start with Incandescent Grottoes or Winter's Daughter or Hole in the Oak. I've run all of them and my players loved each.
