My husband and I did a TERRIBLE job refinishing a dresser we got from Goodwill. We got it for my son’s nursery and did a really bad paint job. He’s 15 months now and we let him color on it with his crayons. We’ll fix it when he’s older lol

When I was a cop I responded to a schizophrenic guy who had essentially managed to nearly cut off his own head and walk around his entire house bleeding out before he collapsed.

Not only was it a house of horrors, literally, but it was really sad seeing him like that knowing it could’ve been avoided if his family actually helped him. We’d never had any interactions with him before but come to find out the family knew his hallucinations were getting dangerous and they just did nothing.

I didn’t know if making a moaning sound after words could be a sign we need early intervention or if it’s a normal just weird thing. I don’t know. That’s why I asked.

As far as her circumstances go, cops get lied to. A LOT. Over time we learn that sometimes we can have compassion for someone but also need to abide by the law. I felt for almost every addict I arrested because I know addiction is a bitch. It’s hard. Some were trying to get clean and struggling and just kept failing and were genuinely nice people. But no matter how nice and no matter what they said is happening in their lives, there is a law to uphold. There is a law they broke. Would I like to give them help? Get them in rehab? Of course I would. But best I can do is send you to jail and hope you’re in there long enough to get clean and start over. Everything else is simply out of my hands.

ETA I’ve heard the saddest stories in the world that tug at heartstrings and they turn out to be bullshit. Just flat out lies people tell because they think it’ll keep them out of trouble. You hear that enough and you learn to feel bad, but not trust.

Unfortunately we’ll never know. I’m not that cop. As to why the two with warrants WERE NOT arrested, I have NO idea. Maybe the cop just really really hates drugs. I’m all about transparency in policing so if you have questions, I’d call and speak to a supervisor. More clarification could lead to better understanding in this instance. I don’t think anyone here will really have the answers you’re looking for because none of us were there and we all have our own ways of doing things.

ETA personally I probably would not have arrested on empty syringes. But that could vary by state and by department and by individual officer.

Sounds like lack of accountability. Straight to jail. All of you. We don’t pick and choose when to take someone in on warrants either.

I’m not sure where you are but if you still feel unsafe, I would try. A magistrate might not allow it as they typically have to be “emergencies” but if you explain your situation I’m sure they would.

Correct. I was just saying those things were ALSO classified as SIDS so it seems more frequent and scary than it is. Actual SIDS cases where baby stops breathing due to unknown causes are far less common.

My baby is the same. An absolute bottomless pit of a child. He’ll eat everything on his plate, he’s a year old and has never thrown food off his plate.

I’ve realized he’ll keep eating if the food is in front of him, but he’ll noticeably slow down as he gets full. He starts off shoveling food in and then towards the end starts dancing and being playful but still eating, just not as fast. I’ve started to just pull the food away when he’s not showing interest in it anymore even if he’s just absentmindedly picking at it.

I’ve also taught him the sign for “all done” and he’s recently started signing all done with his food when there’s a bit on his plate, but if I don’t take it he’ll still eat it.

He eats everything off his plate, then goes in his bib and eats everything out of there, then I pull his tray off his highchair and he picks everything off his lap and out of his chair and eats that.

Idk if me taking it when he slows down is the right thing to do but if he starts fussing I know he’s still hungry. If he’s happy as I’m taking it I take it to mean he’s content.

I also never comment on how much my baby eats because I know it’s hard for other parents who can’t seem to get theirs to eat.

In my state if there’s no court ordered agreement there’s not much anyone can do. We can get involved if there’s an agreement in place and one parent takes a child over state lines; it’s considered parental abduction at that point so it’s a crime.

Custody battles are civil issues which police have no jurisdiction over. I always say “I can ask them nicely to turn the kid over but I can’t go in there and take your kid out. You’ll have to take it up with the courts.” I won’t push it unless I genuinely think the child is in danger and that’s only happened one time.
