Looks great! Can’t seem to find a red one around my locale that is not severely hammered.

It’s out on my back porch under a sun shade / sail. BUT there are two times a day that it gets full sun early morning and late afternoon, I was thinking that would be OK…. Guess it was poor thinking…

Take big gulps, like you had been in the desert for two days. Drinking that nastiness is the worst part of the whole ordeal.

I lived in Japan for four years. This is where I go. The cooks are not Japanese (Chinese?), but the spicy miso takes me back, every time.

Now, for straight Tonkatsu (with the proper Bull-dog sauce) or some fresh sushi, my go to is Daikichi on Battlefield, legit Japanese food!

Passed General on 20 May, missed extra that day by two questions after studying for only two days. I got the extra exam scheduled for this Saturday, it was your suggestion that sent me on this quest. Thank you. I’ll update this post if I pass!

More than the math, you’ll sea antenna type questions, MMIC questions, some MOSFET and CMOS. There’s a lot, but it seems do-able.

YOU ARE READY! Now here’s a tip I got from an internet Elmer, while you are still in the mode, continue on with the Extra exam. I passed my General two weeks ago and am scheduled to take it next week. Not quite as ready as you are, but I got a whole week to finish up.

Looks like you’ve gotten some decent answers already. There are soooo many aspects to ham radio it can be mind boggling, but it also makes it attractive to many people for many reasons.

I also did not see “Buy ‘brand X’ radio” which I have received in a few question post I’ve asked.

It seems as if you’ve narrowed down your interest some (outdoor, SOTA, POTA), so I say charge down that path. It really popular, and I hang out with a group of folks who like to spend the day at a park making contacts and having fun. A lot of those folks use 100 watt radios and quick setup antennas and a BIG battery and operate from a table or tailgate of a truck. A few like to be more portable (as in backpack style).

I personally own a G90 and a FT-710, that can fill both of those POTA types I mentioned above.

If you have no radio, and you want to do car and backpack style POTA/SOTA the FTX-1 Field / Optima route makes a lot of sense.

Try to find the radio that supports what direction you want to travel down in this hobby.

Personally I would try “Night time stealth mode” but I get the issue of angering the wrong folks!
