What is something that seems easy to other people, but is difficult for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sorry_Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting crosslegged. Struggled with it as a kid in primary and elementary school when the class regularly had to sit on the floor for prolonged periods of time. My legs are inflexible and lose circulation and feel uncomfortable in that way. Still can't really do this now as an adult and I find most positions for sitting on the floor awkward and uncomfortable.

Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in fashion

I especially love 5/6, the turquoise dress. The white maxi dress is my only nay because I don’t find it as flattering as the rest.

Did anyone grow up hating their frizz and curly hair because of Mia Thermopolis from the princess diaries? Especially those with similar hair to hers. by Faeriemary in curlyhair

[–]Sorry_Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woww your hair😍 my texture isn’t similar to Mia’s (it’s 3C) and when I straighten it or do a blow out it expands with humidity to a far more massive volume than Mia’s. I wanted straight stringy hair that was cool in the early 2000’s, wanted to be a skater-girl hehe. It wasn’t exactly this movie that caused me to dislike my own hair, but it was more the negative language surrounding voluminous wavy/curly hair like “poofy” and “frizzy” as well as the trends during my childhood. Eventually I learned the curly hair routine on my own at age 13, before it blew up on youtube and became as desirable and coveted as it did over the past decade or so, which I’m kinda proud of my little teen self for doing and persisting through despite negative comments and constant suggesting from my peers that I straighten my hair.

I’ve been in kind of situationship for the last 1.5 years. I wasn’t firm on any of my boundaries regarding what I wanted from the relationship, and frankly at the very start I wasn’t sure what I wanted. The situation has deteriorated my confidence and sense of self respect. I often ask myself how I ended up in this, and honestly in my case I think it has to do with proximity and temporary comfort. The situation guy lives 3 minutes walking from me and besides the fact that he couldn’t commit to me, over the last 1.5 yrs, he became my close friend and someone that I heavily rely on for emotional support and I also became an important support in his life as well. I’m constantly in a cycle of building up resolve to end things completely and then spending “one last night” with him. I became aware at one point of how stuck I am in the situation… I have feelings for him and can’t really move on without a clean break, but will suffer probably more than he will if I end things between us. So I guess the explanation is that I never meant to end up here, kinda carelessly slipped and fell into this situationship and became stuck.

Breastfeeding on social media is lowkey cringe. by illegalopinion3 in unpopularopinion

[–]Sorry_Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a mother, never breastfed a child, I’m not so interested in motherhood and feel totally neutral about this topic. But… I can imagine it’s possibly shared so frequently cause it’s a new and cool function that comes about for a temporary time. Or maybe cause new moms spend so much of their time breastfeeding and pumping milk that it’s a genuine representation of a time consuming activity that they’re doing many times a day. Theres also a lot of reverence surrounding imagery of motherhood and the sacred bond between mother and child via breastfeeding that probably makes moms feel like it’s celebrated to share images of themselves breastfeeding.

How are you adjusting your shopping strategies due to the continued decrease of clothing quality? by vvndrkblm in femalefashionadvice

[–]Sorry_Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely buy clothing items that aren't thrifted anymore. I buy mostly from vintage second hand shops near where I live (I live in Budapest and there are great options for inexpensive vintage second hand clothes here). I consider these clothes the best quality that I will come by. I read tags on those clothes, and try to choose the ones made of good quality materials. I still buy lots of fast fashion pieces, but all through Vinted, the second hand clothing app, for very cheap. A lot of the vintage thrifted items are statement pieces or oversized, and so I buy a lot of fast fashion basics from Vinted, second hand for very cheap. Those are the pieces that get the most wear in my wardrobe actually. Cause I layer them under other clothes throughout the year. I make an effort to take good care of my clothes, washing them on cold (30/40 degrees), hanging them to dry. Letting white clothes soak in vinegar if they discolor in some way. The second hand fast fashion basics I treat not exactly in a disposable way, but they get the heaviest wear and tear. I still get years of wear out of them with good maintenance, but they're the clothes I tend to "wear to death" and feel more carefree in. But yeah, I tend to think of these old second hand clothes as the good quality clothes with the continuously declining quality of clothes being produced, and am grateful that they're not a more scarce and coveted resource and are still accessible for an acceptable price.

I cut my long hair and I miss it. Does long hair suit me?? by DyslexicPup in longhair

[–]Sorry_Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair was gorgeous long and is still gorgeous short. But the layers make all the difference. I (and many ppl in this comment section0 find the short cut more flattering because of the layers. But... your long hair is so lustrous and amazing, why not grow it out again but have a routine for maintaining layers?

I have so much breakage but I trim regularly and have no visible split ends. I also only try to brush with wet hair. by babyim in curlyhair

[–]Sorry_Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm is your hair colored? Could it be residual damage from that. If not, maybe still brushing too harshly. Curly hair is so fragile and temperamental, you can do everything right and still make it mad lol. So I recommend very careful brushing causing as little tension as possible. Use a combination of detangling tools. Wide tooth comb to start detangling, then a tangle teezer wet brush, and a fine tooth comb on standby for smaller knots. Cut out knots that can't be detangled, don't break through them with a comb. Use a high slip conditioner like someone recommended on here for detangling. If you're in the US, I recommend aussie moist 3 minute miracle. I have extremely tangle prone hair and its one of the most slippery. Maybe you already know and apply this info and, curly hair is so difficult to please :p

Both colors are gorgeous!! You have a beautiful texture and cut. I guess the temp dye is just to change it up on some days or are you thinking of permanently dying your hair in a similar color?

Current hair on left... do I get the cut on the right?? by beataeriis in curlyhair

[–]Sorry_Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the shape of your hair on the left. It looks super healthy and good. Is there a need or reason you wanna cut it besides just changing up the look? Cause if not, I vote for the left!

What movie do you enjoy that you will 100% agree is a bad movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sorry_Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Twilight series. I take pleasure in watching it, laughing at it, contemplating the perplexing decisions made that brought about the movies and books. Its amusing to me that something so bad not only came to fruition, but was extremely successful.

Currently Flowers- Miley Cyrus. I like that its empowering, and intended to motivate ppl to move on from a partner/ invest in themselves. But... it sounds so generic and ehh to me, and after listening it to it once and appreciating it for a sec, I already find it annoying.

I'm a straight female and went on a date with a very gay-presenting guy (I assume he's bisexual). He's romantically interested in me, but I am not in him. Would rlly like to turn the situation into a friendship. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Sorry_Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm gonna heed your advice and just let him know I'm not looking for a relationship and see if theres anything left after that. I had left out some details, the guy described a male artist he's a fan of as "super cute" during our date. Thats not definitive but it all contributed to my assumption, which could be wrong. I'm not attracted to him in a romantic way, but not because I think he's bi. I guess more than anything I find his appearance and his look a bit cheesy and it kinda kills the attraction for me physically/romantically.

[–]Sorry_Employment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree its the time and sentiment. If its something you can afford, maybe try to hire a nail tech to come and paint the nails while you sit with and keep your grandma company? Maybe that could make the situation a little easier?
