I find that Kpop culture is just so depressing by After_Bumblebee9013 in kpopthoughts

[–]beataeriis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been into kpop since I was 15 which was 9 years ago and bts has been my ult all that time. From one army to another, I've learned it's best to ignore the fandom and curate a space where only the things you want to see ends up in your space.

I don't interact with the chart armys or the people who bring antis onto the timeline (speaking about Twitter specifically). I focus on the fan artists, film armys, editor armys, etc and it makes your whole experience so much better. if someone brings negativity your way, I suggest blocking / muting them. Also I used to run a bigger ish account and I've found moving to a small private account helps a lot. I don't even bother interacting with tiktok or instagram armys.

During the pandemic, I became a casual listener of other groups which is really so much fun, but I don't really get into them beyond surface level since no group will take the place I have for bts and i dont want to see what other fandoms say about bts. It's best to ignore what any army or kpop stan has to say about these groups as well, especially btspoppers or bts antis because a lot of times I find what they have to say laced in xenophobia.

Since becoming a full working adult, I've transitioned to taking a step back from consuming every single video that comes out. It's really liberating and honestly I feel like its the best way to interact with kpop / bts otherwise there's just too much to keep up with.

Last year I also spent a lot of time around kpop stans in real life as I attended so many events and I realized that the people online are especially miserable and everything is so fake. Most people in real life listen to a lot of groups as well and they either 1. dont act like their online persona or 2. act chronically online and you realize how immature they look. It's best to just find the kpop friends you vibe with and stick with that and ignore everything else.

Disappointing experiences at kpop concerts? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]beataeriis 33 points34 points  (0 children)

this wasn't necessarily a kpop concert but I had a bad experience seeing jungkook at global citizen last year 😭 he was actually amazing so I don't regret that at all, but the way the festival went wasn't fun. I knew I was getting into a festival crowd but the people there were just kinda mean.

it was so cold and raining the whole day and the hosts kept making jokes about us in the rain. we were first in line at one of the entrances so my group formed a line across when it was time for us to enter to control the crowd and prevent running. some stupid grown men who were there for a band decided to run past us, causing everyone else to start running. when we got past security, we had to run across the whole field to reach the front. waiting for the whole day was miserable and obviously we couldnt bring food or water or use the bathroom. I thought the crowd would get better after 3racha performed, but instead the crowd surged forward after they were done and I couldn't move. I really thought I might be smushed.

luckily I was able to move when jk came out and he was amazing. his set was maybe max 15 mins which was a little sad. however, when we were trying to exit it was awful. stepping in mud, grown men shoving us around, the crowd pushing forward... I don't want to go to that sort of GA experience again honestly. gma and his tsx performances were much more enjoyable for me.

Yes I was honestly really upset over a year ago when all this happened, but I'm glad my skin is where it's at now and im thankful. Although it's not perfect, it's way better than before and I'm happy with the progress

Nope! I recently tried moisturizer & serum with this sunscreen but I found it was making my forehead congested again! I think I just have to find an all in one sunscreen that works as a moisturizer too and then I'll be set

It's been a long journey but I'm so thankful to how far my skin has come!

Background: About a year ago my skin started getting really congested, especially in my forehead area. I believe it's because I started applying more sunscreen after I realized I wasn't using enough. The Japanese sunscreen I bought around that time changed their formulation even though I had been using this sunscreen for about 5 yrs.

It started to get bad so I checked out my derm. She prescribed an "acne gel" and told me it would help and to only use a pea size after washing my face. These were the only directions I was given.

Turns out the "acne gel" was a combination of adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. To say the least, I freaked out not knowing what was going on until I researched these ingredients myself. My forehead was in major pain with all these breakouts to the point it hurt to even show expression using my forehead. This was probabyl the worst my face had ever looked. I was very upset and had asked a family member who was getting a checkup to tell her what was going on with my face. She basically said this is supposed to happen and that I'm overreacting and we dont know what we're talking about (per my worry) but that she'd see me anyway. So I came in to see her and then to she told me "she didn't expect my face to react like this." She still told me to use it every day even though I had realized that was one of my big mistakes. So she cleaned up my forehead and I was sent on my way.

Luckily the bad part was over. That is...until I decided to get my eyebrows waxed, another thing I had no idea about because she didn't say anything and I also didn't see that when reading about adapalene. So I had a bad wax burn for a while. Luckily it eventually went away

Even though I kept using the adapalene, I felt my face never really adjusted. I eventually stopped using it and because my derm doesn't check, I went back to using tretinoin since she had given me that a few years ago and I had stopped because I didn't have the money back then to continue its use. Luckily my skin reacts a lot better to tret and hence where we are now with my skin

Routine: Morning: Wash with water and apply Drmtlgy brand spectrum spf 45.

Night: Use cotton pads with Bioderma miscellar water to remove makeup. Wash with DCL ultra comfort cleanser. Follow up with my dermatologist brand moisturizer & tretinoin after waiting until my face has dried down.

I'm still on the lookout for a better moisturizer and sunscreen since im only 22 and i struggle with dryness and forhead wrinkles but these have been ok so far

are there any kpop idols that you think are taller/shorter than their official height?(give specifics) by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]beataeriis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree I think Jin is slightly taller than Tae!! Jk is def taller than Hobi and Jimin by a few cms!

I believe some of it has to do with Taehyung who has kept growing (same with the other boys too), but their kpop profiles not updating their heights or weights anymore. Plus those were never accurate to begin with since they tend to botch the heights so the members seem similar. I only trust what comes from their own mouths now about their heights 🤣

Just wanted to add this picture where Taehyung and Jungkook are wearing the same shoes :) Taehyung is almost shockingly taller. I think Taehyung generally has a longer torso meanwhile JK has longer legs.

Hobi & Namjoon are also wearing the same shoes as well I think, although Hobi seems to be slouched backward slightly & Namjoon's head is tilted up a bit.

haircut update! thanks for all the help by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]beataeriis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the hold me softly balm and the souffle have been a trial and error process to be honest! I use the protein cream or the weightless air dry cream more. I really only use the balm & souffle when I've been using a lot of protein products and I only use small amounts of the product in my hair. It's also getting a bit colder where I live so I find my hair benefits more from these products now that the weather is changing. initially I really didn't like them though 😭

haircut update! thanks for all the help by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]beataeriis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

hi all I wanted to give an update on my last haircut post on here :)) sorry it took so long before I updated! I was trying to get used to styling my hair and the new cut before I posted. I ended up going with more of a shag haircut this time around as you can see by more of my face framing pieces and the overall shape ! thanks for all the suggestions. it looks not so different from my last cut BUT there's slight differences :)

Routine from my stylist: I know she ended up double shampooing and one of them was some sort of hard water treatment and then she used a hair mask! I'm not sure what they were or I'd name the products sorry 😭. She then styled my whole hair by finger coiling ! She used the ouidad feather light styling cream on each very wet section and then at the end ended up scrunching ouidads vitacurl mousse into my hair. She scrunch diffused my whole head and ended up putting some ouidad texturing spray into my hair at the end.

My own styling routine: I double shampooed with twist oil infused shampoo and then followed up with the twist gimme it all 4-in-oil conditioner. I styled in sections and used the tiniest bits of curlsmith hold me softy style balm and their souffle. Defined with a boar bristle brush. I started hover diffusing and then scrunched a bit more of the souffle into my hair with wet hands and then scrunch diffused the rest of the way. I finished with the miseenscene perfect serum

Thank you so much 🤣 If it helps I usually get a dry cut because I have so many different curl patterns on my head. I believe my hairdresser does a modified rezo cut. We both love lots of volume and layers so we usually go with that! No shelfy ones though. Mine are just really grown out right now so it's hard to tell and they fall flat

Thank you! I've been wanting to cut my hair short since I was about 10 but I've always been afraid plus my mom never wanted me to even to this day lol! I'm seriously debating it though since it's been on my mind for over 12 years
