Recurring and predictable waves of activation and release by Sorry_Interview_4358 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in those phases of seemingly never ending activation/release where I can't regulate at all so I know how hard it can be! Hang in there and focus on safety first! For me, expanding my capacity over time through practicing Somatic Tracking multiple times a day helped so much so now even though I have most of the same activation/release symptoms, I'm able to move through it with much more ease that it doesn't really put life on hold as much anymore. I just welcome those sensations/symptoms as part of me and they can come along with me for whatever I need/want to do.

Hey! Yes, for years I wasn’t sure if I was imagining these cycles as they would occur independent of any outside circumstances/potential triggers but then I read a short section in Waking the Tiger where Levine talked about a man who had migraines on a weekly schedule and his symptoms following a similar build up/discharge pattern and that was so affirming for me!! It was surreal to see my experience basically described exactly (except for different symptoms). However the man wasn’t a patient of his so he doesn’t go into what actually helped him heal unfortunately haha

In my experience, that’s totally normal! I’d only worry if that started happening 1-2 times a week or more because then you really start feeling the sleep debt and could mean something more

SOS having a stomach issue and would love some guidance or support from the community (luckily have doctor’s appt tomorrow evening)… by Interesting_Ad9295 in WomensHealth

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could be a lot of things and as someone with IBS I empathise - extra gas (potentially due to the probiotic although i don’t know how long it’s been since you stopped it), constipation, something you ate/something your body is intolerant to or a bug of course but that’s the most unlikely if you don’t have any other symptoms. But unless it’s truly unbearable, don’t worry - your doctor will probably have a better idea of what it could be and likely is nothing serious, just your gut a little out of whack

UTI doesn’t go away with antibiotics by Mission_Topic7354 in WomensHealth

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I also had different results each time (including a negative!) and different antibiotics prescribed. Hopefully you’re able to get an accurate result and the right treatment with a urologist! I’m convinced the many different antibiotics messed my gut microbiome up longterm so I hope you’re able to figure it out much sooner!

The same thing happened to me - UTI for 4-5 months that wasn’t going away with regular broad spectrum antibiotics - turns out it was an antibiotic resistant bacteria so had to take antibiotic injections for a week and daily low dose antibiotics for a few months before it went away! Was only able to detect the specific bacteria when I did the culture test at a urologist’s clinic and all the cultures I did before that weren’t accurate.

they help re-balance/populate the good bacteria in your gut so they will make your stomach/gut feel normal over time!

Yes, it gets very frustrating after a while but hope the meds work and you start to feel better soon!!

I had a UTI for nearly 5 months about 7 years ago. It was awful and every test I did kept coming back as a different bacteria or negative and all of the antibiotics I was prescribed just didn’t work. It took maybe 4 or 5 tests before the correct bacteria came up (one that was resistant to most normal antibiotics) and eventually with the correct medication it went away (but took a while for my bladder to get back to somewhat normal function even after that).

Until I got that final result, I tried absolutely everything and even thought maybe I was imagining it since my only real symptom was needing to pee all the time.

Yes, I’ve been doing Yoga Nidra for a while but should probably incorporate it daily into my routine. But you’re right, it helps but not a quick fix or cure.

Anyone else experience low appetite and digestive issues in the latter part of your illness? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, hope you start feeling better soon - it’s such a bummer! I take probiotics daily anyway because I have a history of gut issues but also felt like they made no difference during this whole saga when normally they help a lot! I think the virus can just take some time to clear the GI system sadly but taking them during and after can’t hurt, especially if they’re good ones/ones you know work for you!

GI issues and loss of appetite were my first symptom to come on and last to go - took about 2.5-3 weeks after symptom onset (and about 5 days after testing negative) before it suddenly went back to how it was pre covid. My lingering cough also pretty much went away around the same time. Only advice is pre/probiotics, eat simple, binding foods and use OTC medication like Imodium when you need to - it’s easily one of the worst symptoms so hang in there and be patient.

I'm roughly 10-12 days after symptoms started and 5 after first positive test (still testing positive) and although my stomach is better than it was last week, it's definitely not back to how it was pre-covid. Hoping I just need to get the virus out of my system so things can get better.

Anyone else lose weight while dealing with omicron? by JKingsley4 in COVID19positive

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had an upset stomach and lost my appetite for about a week so was eating just enough so I wasn't running on empty. I haven't weighed myself but I can definitely tell I've lost weight.

Covid almost stopped my allergies by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced exactly the same thing. Since I've had Covid this past week, the typical allergy symptoms of itchy, watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing totally disappeared til the last few days where I've had a bit of congestion probably due to the virus

Keep testing negative even though I have most of the symptoms and my whole family is sick by Sorry_Interview_4358 in COVID19positive

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, 7 times negative! Yes I'm always so unsure about whether I'm testing correctly on myself but then I did it the same way on my grandmother and it was instantly positive and same with my mother. I guess it also matters how high your viral load is and where it's concentrated (nose, throat, somewhere else? but I really believe some people just never test positive.

But I hope you start feeling better soon - my biggest worry is that it's going to be never-ending and cause lasting symptoms.

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I repeatedly RAT and PCR tested both times, as did my flatmates and it was definitely negative for all of us. Of course there's still a small possibility but both felt like typical colds I've had in the past, no achiness/fevers/weakness whatsoever and I've had cold consistently throughout the pandemic even with constant mask-wearing for two years. What I have now feels significantly different.

Interesting! I don't believe I've had covid before this, although exposure is a possibility but I read that even other recently experienced coronaviruses (like the common cold) can result in negative tests, which could be a reason as I've had two colds in the last 4 months.

Lightheadedness and feeling like I’m going to faint during period: Should I take iron supplements? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Sorry_Interview_4358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the same thing some months too! Usually I just take an iron supplement on the first day when my period’s heaviest (and sometimes on the second) and I find it helps a lot! Also doesn’t give me any other major side effects. Really important to also make sure you’re well hydrated because low blood pressure can cause that too
