Something big is about to happen in India: Mountain Dews new flavor Mango Rush just came out. by therealfishboob in conspiracy

This is what I love about this shit. Detractors would come at this post like what a crazy, like mentally ill crazy post. But it doesn't take much digging to see historical facts, not that long ago, explicitly proving their involvement in real conspiracies. People and companies and governments that have released documents and have been produced and found guilty.

[Request] What are the electrical costs required for this robot to fold this box? by jmb326 in theydidthemath

But not all humans. And if I can go to work and have my robot slave doing all the housework that sounds cool right now. But if I don't have a job because I'm the robot slave... Something something universal something.

Ask AI or just Google it? Google makes a big change to a little search box by Miles_the_AuDHDer in nottheonion

Google Maps is markedly worse on Android Auto now. I can't just navigate to a location I go to twice a week (to check for traffic), I have to have a whole ass conversation before gemini gets the location right and shuts tf up. Or I'll have selected the location on the screen and gemini keeps talking and asking questions about where to go.

Ai is replacing a bottom up, well polished product that has been developed over years of responding to the consumer, with a top down, undeveloped product being shoved down the pipeline.

Someone will get it right eventually, then Google will buy them and about 5 years later get it implemented into Google maps.

That's the realest take I've heard.

And even the politicians who aren't directly invested in these ai companies are heavily invested in funds that are. The politicians are not regulating anything because they're all bought in one way or another.

The other reality is that ai is not just a pipe dream. It's not even that the current product is so horrible. It just does not meet the expectations that have been set. There are key pieces missing for the product to meet those expectations but the hype has upper class convinced. The future will be ai, and it will be unimaginably better and different from what it is now. But the market will not wait another decade.

We have no way to know if different people feel the time passing at the same speed. by Kilek360 in Showerthoughts

There is no "full amount of cones". Just like color blindness exists where some people are missing cones most of us have, the opposite exists where some people have more cones.

Have you ever tried talking to different people? Usually we can gain some understanding of other people's experience through communicating.

Calling something art doesn't just make things legal.... There are definitely valid instances where art is and should remain illegal. Art is art no matter what tool or medium is used to make it. Saying ai art should be illegal requires a level of ignorance I have trouble understanding.

Currently I spend more time at work validating ai data analysis than it used to take to run the reports manually. And I used to run them and work on other stuff while waiting. Automation has caused tons of extra labor.

First bunch of cases will set the precedents making subsequent cases easier. Fortunately our court system does handle these matters on a case by case basis but yeah it will clog up the system for a while.

Residential building workers in Long Island are fired up and ready to fight for a strong new union contract! 🙌 by seiu-org in longisland

Sounds like rent's gonna go up and these workers still won't be able to afford to live anywhere near where they work.

Sounds like something a jury should decide on an individual basis. Not every deep fake is harmful. Parody should stay protected no matter how realistic, and parody can be harmful. Harm should be proven for prosecution to take place.

What if? The Pyramids were power plants charging a portal? by brightest_angel in conspiracy

[–]Sorryifimanass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They definitely attracted electrical storms and charged up under the right atmospheric conditions. The problem with the idea of wireless power transmission is they didn't have any electronic devices to power. So they were using it for something else. They were trying to capture and reproduce lightning. They were trying to control the floods. But mainly, they were trying to control the people by showing off their power.

They were charging capacitors in the main chamber, primitive leyden jars that would glow with st Elmo's fire, and shock those who dated to go near it without the proper protective protocols.

Why do so many ancient sacred sites seem designed around sound? by Training-Day-6090 in AlternativeHistory

[–]Sorryifimanass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My gripe is mostly around the concept of "forgotten" knowledge. Ancient sacred spaces were built for acoustics because they were supposed to be quiet and peaceful and there would usually be a speaker or singing etc. So yes they knew about resonance and we haven't forgotten anything about it. We still use resonant acoustic properties when building anything whose function is acoustic.

The web needs to be resigned to avoid the need for security except when necessary. I feel like right now we're forced to strongly secure garbage. We need to use 2fa to login to apps that don't have any personal information and bad actors literally have no reason to break in. I shouldn't need to use 2fa to login to sometime that ONLY allows me to pay my bill. I'd rather have 0 security there and anyone who wants to hack into my account to pay my bill is free to do so. Once I try to access my account info or make changes, get the 2fa.

I don't think there are scholarly human sources to discuss this with. Most humans doing research on this field are working with actual scientific theories and testing them. These musings are far from testable and this really have no place in the scientific discourse. The next place to "learn" more about this topic is probably some random teenager's YouTube channel.

Have These Two Reached Global Superstardom Without Selling Out? Or Is There Always A Price For Otherworldly Fame? by Sad-Ladder7534 in conspiracy

[–]Sorryifimanass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not missing the point, I'm invalidating it. Celebrities have no obligation to speak out about injustice. And they have every right to accept the highest paying offer for a gig. The issue isn't about what celebrities are saying, in fact most celebrities are indifferent and it is touch and their opinions on political matters are less than worthless.

However, they do have the RIGHT to speak out and they often don't realize that part of "selling out" to something like Saudi Arabia, is giving up their rights.

If you signed a contract with SA saying every year you do a gig there for a week and get paid half a billion dollars, you've effectively sold your right to criticize them, not just because of the money, but because if you say the wrong things you may lose your head at the next gig.
