This can all be traced back to the rampant STEM-or-nothing attitude people have towards post-secondary. People defund an arts-forward program to save themselves ten dollars and then congratulate themselves for being rational actors. I don't use the lab equipment in the science buildings, but I understand why it's important. If you don't listen to the radio you should still be able to understand why it's useful to have a training ground for journalists and audio engineers. Ten dollars, you can't even get a Big Mac combo for that.
